Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Lucatiel of Mirrah is a very frequent, important NPC who will aid the player several times throughout their journey, even in the DLC. However, as the player progresses, they'll witness Lucatiel slowly succumbing to the Undead curse. Which of the following does Lucatiel struggle with as the curse sets in?

Answer: Forgetfulness

Lucatiel will eventually even forget her name, in addition to her brother as well as the player. At the end of her questline, she will beg the player to remember her name for her because of this. If the player summons Lucatiel for three boss fights and keeps her alive until the fight is over, she will thank them for keeping her sane and will reward them with her cosmetic set, weapon and shield.
2. King Vendrick is well known for waging war with the Giants as they invaded Drangleic. Did he and his forces defeat them in the end?

Answer: Yes

As it happens, this is because the player goes back in time to visit the Memory of Jeigh. Here, the ruler and commander of the Giants, the Giant Lord, appears as a boss fight. Slaying him is essentially the catalyst that allowed Vendrick and his forces to prevail.
3. According to lore, King Vendrick had a right hand man who even followed him to the Undead Crypt when Vendrick fled Drangleic. His right hand man remained even after Vendrick went hollow. Who is Vendrick's right hand man?

Answer: Velstadt the Royal Aegis

Velstadt appears as a boss fight in the Undead Crypt, as he indeed remained in Vendrick's guard here. Velstadt is portrayed as prioritizing 'king' more than 'country', and his actions directly reflect that. His counterpart, Raime, was essentially Vendrick's 'left hand man' until he openly rebeled against Vendrick and Drangleic. Raime was more concerned with 'country' than 'king' and expressed major concern over Nashandra not being who she appeared to be.

A correct assertion, this was nevertheless disregarded by Vendrick until Raime viewed rebellion to save Drangleic as the only option.
4. The Prowling Magus and Congregation boss fight is quite odd initially, as it's just a small mob of hollows, two clerics and the Magus acting as a dollar store hexer of sorts. The lore behind it, however, is entirely surrounding the Prowling Magus' reason for being in Tseldora in the first place. The Prowling Magus was commissioned by Nashandra to come here and do what?

Answer: Steal the souls of the Congregation

The Congregation was originally a group of refugees who went to the Tseldora Chapel to hide from the onslaught of spiders brought forth by the Duke's Dear Freya. The Prowling Magus was sent here by Nashandra to extract their souls. It's never revealed why the Prowling Magus and Congregation fight in tandem. Perhaps the magus has achieved his goal and was just set to leave, explaining the mindlessness of the Congregation. Alternatively, given that the player must essentially break in to the chapel in order to access it, reacting with hostility towards an intruder could be the motivation.
5. The Covetous Demon is said to have fallen in love with Mytha, the Baneful Queen. In an effort to try and woo her, what did he do?

Answer: Gorged himself excessively

Unfortunately, the demon didn't get the best of advice, as when he is encountered, the form he has taken as a result of gorging himself is not likely to entice mostly anyone at all romantically.
6. Mytha the Baneful Queen once had a romantic interest in none other than King Vendrick. To try and make herself appealing to him, what did she do?

Answer: Endlessly poison herself

In a fairly amusing development of flirting gone horribly wrong, Mytha opted to poison herself to the point of transforming herself into what is essentially a headless Medusa-like monster. Whoever gave her and Covetous Demon dating advice owes them a serious apology.
7. When encountering the Old Iron King, he has all but lost the entirety of his humanity. He appears as a massive devil-like monster swimming in a massive pool of lava. It turns out that someone else is responsible for this, having essentially thrown the king in his human form in this lava. Who did it?

Answer: The Smelter Demon

In the lore, the king had the Smelter Demon constructed. A long time later, the demon eventually grew a mind of it's own and decided to overthrow the king, taking the castle for itself. To do this, it simply overpowered him and threw him in the lava.
8. Aldia, Scholar of the First Sin appears a few times throughout the game to give the player some insight, as well as question their morals. During one dialogue sequence, Aldia will express contempt and disdain towards the "Lord of Light" and seems outraged at that person. Who is the "Lord of Light"?

Answer: Gwyn, Lord of Cinder

Gwyn is the Lord of Cinder, and is referred to by other monikers, one of which being "Lord of Light." Aldia believes that Gwyn's motivations behind tending to the First Flame are selfish, being done only so Gwyn could secure power, and not done out of personal values or beliefs.
9. Aldia, Scholar of the First Sin is last met at the Throne of Want. Here, he demands that the player "give us your answer." What is the player deciding between here?

Answer: Age of Fire or Age of Dark

The Throne of Want is unique in that it isn't actually a conventional throne. The throne oversees the First Flame, a deific mechanism responsible for the world's natural light and heat source, as well as repellant against the Abyss. If it goes out, the Abyss will quickly consume the world as we know it and essentially enact the apocalypse.

As such, the player isn't being pressed to choose between taking the throne for power or not, they're being pressed to decide if they're willing to sacrifice their soul to maintain the First Flame or not.
10. Before arriving at the Throne of Want, the Emerald Herald will appear to warn the player that someone will come for their life if they proceed into the throne room. Who threatens the player in this way?

Answer: Nashandra

Up to this point, Nashandra has only appeared once, as a seemingly frail, beautiful woman who resided inside the lord's quarters when found. Here, she wears a facade of a genuinely benevolent person trying to help the player reach the throne. As it turns out, Nashandra had showed a fake projection to the player to mask her true self, an ugly abyssal apparition with a long, deadly scythe and vile hex powers. How the Emerald Herald knew this is unknown, but it serves as quite the powerful plot twist nonetheless.
