Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Whose death at the hands of Kratos is described as bringing on Fimbulwinter?

Answer: Baldur

The first chapter of "God of War Ragnarok" includes several flashbacks to the 2018 game "God of War". One of these depicts Kratos battling against Baldur and eventually snapping his neck seemingly killing him. This action brings upon Fimbulwinter, a harsh time that precedes Ragnarok.

In the "God of War" series, Baldur is the son of Odin and Freya and is described as the God of Light and Peace
2. While traveling home Kratos and Atreus are attacked by Freya. What animal does Freya morph into while pursuing Kratos and Atreus?

Answer: Falcon

"God of War Raganarok" begins with Kratos and Atreus heading home after spreading the ashes of Faye (the wife of Kratos and mother of Atreus) on the highest mountain in Jotunheim. Fimbulwinter has brought on prolonged cold temperatures so the two utilize their wolves to pull them on a sled through the snow. On their trip Freya uses her magical abilities to morph into a falcon to catch up to them.

She transforms into and out of her falcon form several times and attacks Kratos until she is neutralized by falling trees.
3. Tragically, upon their return home Kratos and Atreus find that their third wolf is dying. What was this wolf's name after whose death Atreus unintentionally casts a spell?

Answer: Fenrir

When they return home Atreus instantly runs to Fenrir seemingly knowing that his condition may have deteriorated. Fenrir is described as being older than the other two wolves (Svanna and Speki) and he is adored by Atreus. Atreus tries to feed Fenrir but he does not eat and Kratos tells Atreus that it is time.

When Fenrir dies sparks are shown implying that Atreus has cast some type of spell.
4. Atreus runs away from home after burying his deceased wolf. His grief and anger transform him into a massive bear that will eventually fight his father Kratos. Derived from the Norse word for bear, what name does Atreus take while fighting as a bear?

Answer: Bjorn

The bear Bjorn is the first boss fight in "God of War Ragnarok". Prior to fighting Kratos, Bjorn the bear has mauled a smaller brown bear as well as some raiders in the area and destroyed a safety structure that Kratos created. After Kratos defeats Bjorn and is about to deliver a death blow, the bear transforms into his son Atreus. Atreus is then told by Kratos that he must control his emotions as he does not yet realize his powers.
5. Self-described as the smartest man alive, the talking and guiding head of whom does Kratos carry with him when he travels outside of his home?

Answer: Mimir

Mimir's talking head provides clues to Kratos about objectives and helps provide a backstory and information about Norse mythology. In "God of War" Mimir was a trusted advisor to Odin and the Aesir Gods but he was eventually imprisoned and tortured until he is freed by Kratos. Mimir has Kratos mercy kill and behead him so that he could later be re-animated and help Kratos.
6. "Surviving Fimbulwinter", the first chapter of "God of War Ragnarok", introduces the controls and weapons players will use on their journey. What is the name of the primary weapon of Kratos at the beginning of the game?

Answer: Leviathan Axe

Kratos begins the game with the Leviathan Axe and a shield which can both be upgraded as missions are completed and collectibles are obtained. The Leviathan Axe can be swung with minor or major attacks or it can be thrown. The brilliant control scheme of the game allows for the axe to be recalled and returned to Kratos after it is thrown.
7. In "Surviving Fimbulwinter" Kratos comes across collectibles that can be used as in-game currency to buy materials and upgrade gear. What are these objects whose name implies they were obtained from a precious metal?

Answer: Hacksilver

In "God of War Ragnarok", Hacksilver is found throughout the world by exploring areas and locating treasure chests. Sometimes Hacksilver can be obtained by destroying objects. After Kratos accumulates enough Hacksilver, he can trade it in for new gear in certain locales.
8. After Kratos and Ateus return home from their bear encounter, their sleep is disrupted by Thor who demands a discussion with Kratos. What does Thor offer Kratos to drink while they talk?

Answer: Mead

Thor creates a lightning storm outside the home of Kratos and Atreus prompting them to wake up. Kratos tries to get Thor to leave but Thor insists that they have a bottle of mead and 'talk'. Eventually Odin emerages and Thor tells Kratos that he is owed a 'blood payment' because Kratos killed his sons Magni and Modi. The player then fights Thor while Odin stays and talks with Atreus.
9. What race are the characters Brok and Sindri who provide comic relief in the game and help Kratos and Atreus upgrade their equipment?

Answer: Dwarves

After the fight with Thor, Kratos meets up with the dwarf Brok. Brok tells Kratos that him and his brother, Sindri, created Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, as well as the Leviathan Axe that Kratos uses. Unknown to Kratos, Sindri helped Atreus on his journey to find answers about his powers and destiny.
10. Whose temple does Atreus show Kratos while describing that this individual will help lead the war against Odin in Ragnarok?

Answer: Tyr

On the way to Tyr's temple, Kratos and Atreus battle a centaur-like creature called a Huntress as well as raiders and undead creatures. Once they arrive to Tyr's temple, Atreus shows Kratos a shrine that depicts images of Tyr leading a resistance against Odin. Tyr is thought to be dead but Kratos, Atreus and Mimir discuss the possibility that Tyr is hiding in Svartalfheim, the mine realm of dwarves.
