Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Sweet Emotion"

Answer: Guitar Hero: Aerosmith

"Guitar Hero: Aerosmith" was released on PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows, and OS X consoles on June 29th, 2008 (in North America). It was the first "Guitar Hero" spinoff to feature one specific band. The setlist for the game includes twenty-five songs by Aerosmith, an additional four songs from Aerosmith's lead guitarist Joe Perry, plus twelve more songs from other bands and artists.

The game is broken down into six tiers with thirty-one songs. In each tier, players have to play the first two (opening act) songs in the setlist, then they get two Aerosmith/Joe Perry songs. After those four songs, players have the option to play or skip the 'encore' song. Another ten 'bonus' songs can be purchased from the vault using in-game money (making forty-one total).

The first tier, titled 'Getting the Band Together' is set in Nipmuc High School (where the band played their first concert in 1970). The setlist includes the following songs:

"Dream Police" (1979) by Cheap Trick
"All the Young Dudes" (1972) by Mott the Hoople (cover by WaveGroup)
"Make It" (from 1973's debut album "Aerosmith")
"Uncle Salty" (from 1975's "Toys in the Attic")
"Draw the Line" (from 1977's album of the same name)

The second tier includes "Sweet Emotion" (also from "Toys in the Attic") as the 'encore' song in the setlist. As a venue, this tier takes place in Max's Kansas City, and is titled 'First Taste of Success.' The first four songs of this tier are:

"I Hate Myself for Loving You" (1988) by Joan Jett
"All Day and All of the Night" (1964) by The Kinks (cover by WaveGroup)
"No Surprize" (from 1979's "Night in the Ruts")
"Movin' Out" (also from the debut album "Aerosmith")
2. "Love in an Elevator"

Answer: Guitar Hero: Aerosmith

The third tier of play takes place at The Orpheum (in Boston, MA), with the title of 'The Triumphant Return.' From Aerosmith's 1989 album "Pump," the 'encore' song from this set is "Love in an Elevator." The other four songs, in order, are:

"Complete Control" (1977) by The Clash
"Personality Crisis" (1973) by New York Dolls (cover by Steve Ouimette)
"Livin' on the Edge" (from 1993's "Get a Grip")
"Rag Doll" (from 1987's "Permanent Vacation"
3. "Walk This Way"

Answer: Guitar Hero: Aerosmith

With the title of 'International Superstars,' the fourth tier of the game is set in Moscow. Selected as the 'encore' song for this tier, "Walk This Way" (from 1975's "Toys in the Attic") was originally recorded by Aerosmith, also featuring Run-D.M.C. The preceding four songs in the setlist are:

"She Sells Sanctuary" (1985) by The Cult
"King of Rock" (1985) by Run-D.M.C.
"Nobody's Fault" (from 1976's "Rocks")
"Bright Light Fright" (from 1977's "Draw the Line")
4. "Dream On"

Answer: Guitar Hero: Aerosmith

Referencing Aerosmith's Superbowl XXXV appearance, the fifth tier venue of the game is 'Half Time Show' with the title of the sequence being 'The Great American Band.' Used as the 'encore' song for this tier, "Dream On" (from the 1973 debut album "Aerosmith") is the last song of this setlist, with the previous four being:

"Hard to Handle" (1990) by The Black Crowes (cover by Steve Ouimette)
"Always on the Run" (1991) by Lenny Kravitz and Slash
"Back in the Saddle" (from 1976's "Rocks")
"Beyond Beautiful" (from 2001's "Just Push Play")
5. "Train Kept A-Rollin'"

Answer: Guitar Hero: Aerosmith

The final (sixth) tier of "Guitar Hero: Aerosmith" sees the band become 'Rock N Roll Legends' at 'The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.' In addition to the 'encore' tune "Train Kept A-Rollin'" from the 1974 album "Get Your Wings," the sixth tier includes a guitar battle with Joe Perry. The other songs in the setlist include:

"Cat Scratch Fever" (1977) by Ted Nugent
"Sex Type Thing" (1992) by Stone Temple Pilots
"Mama Kin" (from 1973's "Aerosmith")
"Toys in the Attic" (from the 1975 album of the same name)

Lastly, the vault contains the following ten bonus songs that can be 'purchased' in the game to be played:

"Combination" (from 1976's "Rocks")
"Kings and Queens" (from 1977's "Draw the Line")
"Let the Music Do the Talking" (from 1985's "Done With Mirrors")
"Mercy" (from Joe Perry's 2005 self-titled solo album)
"Pandora's Box" (from 1974's "Get Your Wings")
"Pink" (from 1998's "Nine Lives")
"Rats in the Cellar" (also from "Rocks")
"Shakin' My Cage" (also by Joe Perry)
"Talk Talkin" (also by Joe Perry)
"Walk This Way" (from 1975's "Toys in the Attic")
6. "For Whom the Bell Tolls"

Answer: Guitar Hero: Metallica

"Guitar Hero: Metallica" was released on PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360 (in North America) on April 14th, 2009. It expanded the format from "Aerosmith" to have full band playable capability (lead guitar, bass guitar, drums, and vocals). The setlist for the game includes twenty-eight songs by Metallica, plus an additional twenty-one songs (from other bands and artists) selected by the members of Metallica.

The first song in the introductory first tier (at 'The Forum') is "For Whom the Bell Tolls" from their 1984 album "Ride the Lightning." Along with "The Unforgiven" (from the band's eponymous fifth album in 1991), these two songs comprise the whole of tier one.
7. "Enter Sandman"

Answer: Guitar Hero: Metallica

The second tier of "Guitar Hero: Metallica" is a set of five non-Metallica songs, set at 'Tushino Air Field' (in Moscow). The setlist includes:

"Turn the Page" (1976) by Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band
"Mother of Mercy" (1986) by Samhain
"No Excuses" (1994) by Alice in Chains
"Tuesday's Gone" (1973) by Lynyrd Skynyrd
"Demon Cleaner" (1994) by Kyuss

The venue doesn't change for tier three, but now it is a set of purely Metallica songs as 'Metallica at Tushino.' The second song in this setlist is "Enter Sandman" from the 1991 self-titled album "Metallica." The other four songs in the third tier of the game are:

"Nothing Else Matters" (also from 1991's "Metallica")
"King Nothing" (from 1996's "Load")
"Sad but True" (also from "Metallica")
"No Leaf Clover" (from 1999's live album "S&M")
8. "Fade to Black"

Answer: Guitar Hero: Metallica

'Hammersmith Apollo' is the venue for the fourth tier of the game. Again, a set of five non-Metallica songs is squeezed in between Metallica songs, this time including the following:

"Stacked Actors" (1999) by Foo Fighters
"Toxicity" (2001) by System of a Down
"Armed and Ready" (1980) by Michael Schenker Group
"Albatross" (1994) by Corrosion of Conformity
"The Boys Are Back in Town" (1976) by Thin Lizzy

Metallica continues the tier four set with five of their own songs. The second song on the list is their first power ballad "Fade to Black" from the 1984 album "Ride the Lightning." The remaining four songs in the setlist are as follows:

"Orion" (from 1986's "Master of Puppets")
"The Memory Remains" (from 1997's "Reload")
"Wherever I May Roam" (from 1991's "Metallica")
"Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" (also from "Master of Puppets")
9. "One"

Answer: Guitar Hero: Metallica

Tier five of the game, set in the venue of the 'Damaged Justice Tour,' includes five non-Metallica tunes, along with another five songs by Metallica. The first portion of the set includes:

"Mommy's Little Monster" (1998) by Social Distortion
"War Inside My Head" (1990) by Suicidal Tendencies
"Ace of Spades" (2008) by Motörhead

The second half of the tier five setlist includes "One" from the 1988 album "...And Justice for All." The song fits right in the middle of the set, with the other four songs being:

"Fuel" (from 1997's "Reload")
"Frantic" (from 2003's "St. Anger")
"All Nightmare Long" (from 2008's Death Magnetic")
"Hit the Lights" (from 1983's "Kill 'Em All")
10. "My Apocalypse"

Answer: Guitar Hero: Metallica

"My Apocalypse" is the very last song in "Guitar Hero: Metallica," from the 2008 album "Death Magnetic," part of the small three-song ninth and final tier of the game, which takes place at 'The Stone Nightclub.' The other two songs of that last tier are also from "Death Magnetic": "Broken, Beat & Scarred" and "Cyanide."

To wrap up the game's setlist, here is a rundown of the songs from tiers six, seven and eight.

Tier six takes place at 'The Meadowlands' and includes three non-Metallica songs, plus five songs by the band:

"Am I Evil?" (1982) by Diamond Head
"Blood and Thunder" (2004) by Mastodon

"Creeping Death" (from 1984's "Ride the Lightning")
"Master of Puppets" (from the 1986 album of the same name)
"Battery" (also from "Master of Puppets")

Tier seven, set at 'Donington Park,' is a similar set of three non-Metallica songs with a set of five tunes from Metallica. These are:

"Beautiful Mourning" (2007) by Machine Head
"War Ensemble" (1990) by Slayer
"Evil" (2008) by Mercyful Fate
"The Shortest Straw" (from 1988's "...And Justice for All")
"Whiplash" (also from "Kill 'Em All")
"Dyers Eve" (also from "Garage Inc.")
"Disposable Heroes" (also from "Master of Puppets")
"Fight Fire With Fire" (also from "Ride the Lightning")

And in a tier all by itself (tier eight), set in 'The Ice Cave,' is "The Thing That Should Not Be" from Metallica's 1986 album "Master of Puppets."
11. "Runnin' with the Devil"

Answer: Guitar Hero: Van Halen

"Guitar Hero: Van Halen" was released on PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii systems on December 22nd, 2009. Featuring twenty-five Van Halen songs from the David Lee Roth era, the game also included an additional nineteen songs from other bands and individual artists, inspired by Van Halen.

In the game, "Runnin' with the Devil" (originally from Van Halen's debut 1978 album) is one of two introductory songs (along with "Panama" from the album "1984") before you choose the career path you want to follow (guitar/bass/drums/vocals/band). Completing these two 'Van Halen Intro' songs earns you the 'Intruder' badge.
12. "And the Cradle Will Rock..."

Answer: Guitar Hero: Van Halen

After the introductory songs, the second performance venue is Los Angeles, where five non-Van Halen songs make up the setlist (one each from Billy Idol, Fountains of Wayne, The Offspring, Foo Fighters, and The Clash).

Gameplay returns to a Van Halen setlist at the third venue in West Hollywood, beginning with "And the Cradle Will Rock..." (from the 1980 album "Women and Children First"). The other four songs in this tier of the game are:

"Intruder/(Oh) Pretty Woman" (from 1982's "Diver Down")
"Jamie's Cryin'" (from 1978's "Van Halen")
"Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" (also from "Van Halen")
"Everybody Wants Some!!" (from 1980's "Women and Children First")
13. "Jump"

Answer: Guitar Hero: Van Halen

Another venue for the band - Rome - and another set of non-Van Halen tunes for the fourth tier setlist, with songs from Third Eye Blind, Jimmy Eats World, Lenny Kravitz, Kill Switch Engaged, and Blink-182.

The fifth tier of the game brings back another Van Halen setlist, this time in a New York City venue. The last song of the set is "Jump" from the album "1984" (released that same year). Preceding that, you get to rock out with these four Van Halen favourites:

"Unchained" (from 1981's "Fair Warning")
"Atomic Punk" (from 1978's "Van Halen")
"Dance the Night Away" (from 1979's "Van Halen II")
"Hear About It Later" (also from "Fair Warning")
14. "Feel Your Love Tonight"

Answer: Guitar Hero: Van Halen

Yet again, players get to work through a set of non-Van Halen tunes in the sixth tier of the game, this time set in Berlin. The bands this time include Foreigner, Queen, Tenacious D, Weezer, and Alter Bridge.

Moving to Dallas for the next venue, the Van Halen charts return, including "Feel Your Love Tonight" as the fourth song in the set, another classic from the band's debut 1978 album "Van Halen." The other four songs in this setlist are:

"Little Guitars" (from 1982's "Diver Down")
"Eruption" (from 1978's "Van Halen")
"You Really Got Me" (also from "Van Halen")
"Ice Cream Man" (and again from "Van Halen")
15. "Hot for Teacher"

Answer: Guitar Hero: Van Halen

One final setlist from non-Van Halen bands present themselves in London for the eighth tier, with tunes from Deep Purple, Yellowcard, Queens of the Stone Age, and Judas Priest all represented.

Then, the last two tiers are all just Van Halen songs. The ninth tier venue is in New Netherlands, with the following songs featured:

"Beautiful Girls" (from 1979's "Van Halen II")
"Somebody Get Me a Doctor" (also from "Van Halen II")
"Hang 'Em High" (from 1982's "Diver Down")
"Romeo Delight" (from 1980's "Women and Children First")
"Loss of Control" (also from "Women and Children First")

The tenth and final tier of the game returns the player to West Hollywood, only this time the theme is 'The Early Years' and all of the band members are dressed in retro costumes (including bass player Wolfgang Van Halen, who wasn't even born yet in real life). In addition to "Hot for Teacher" from the album "1984," this final set features the following tunes:

"So This Is Love?" (from 1981's "Fair Warning")
"Mean Street" (also from "Fair Warning")
"I'm the One" (from 1978's "Van Halen")
"Spanish Fly" (from 1979's "Van Halen II")
"Cathedral" (from 1982's "Diver Down")
