Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Probe

Answer: Protoss

Your generic worker unit, the Probe is responsible for not only harvesting minerals or vespene gas, but constructing new buildings. Created from a Nexus, the Probe is likely most responsible for constructing additional Pylons, built structures which provide radii of power needed to create and operate other necessary buildings.
2. Dragoon

Answer: Protoss

Beefier than the less-expensive early ground unit, the Zealot, the Dragoon is a handy unit for general combat and is especially good if you're engaged in micro play since its ranged attacks allow it to take out other enemies and structures from enough of a distance to be truly devastating. Dragoons require that you build a Cybernetics Core to be researched and constructed, but in a natural order of construction, this early structure is an inevitability, unlocking many later buildings and techs needed for stronger units.
3. Dark Archon

Answer: Protoss

A fusion of two Dark Templars, the Dark Archon appears as a glowing, red orb capable of massive damage through unconventional means. These units are expensive and a bit unwieldy since you'd be better served using other Protoss units to directly assault a base.

Instead, these units can learn to Mind Control enemy units and stop others in their place, exerting a mental force that can severely hinder an opponent.
4. Reaver

Answer: Protoss

Built from a Robotics Facility, the Reaver is a heavy ground unit that follows the same sort of expectation as a Siege Tank (on the Terran side) in terms of damage output and brutish defensive strength. Under its armored carapace are Scarabs, devastating ground projectiles capable of slipping through tight enemy defences to inflict burst (and splash) damage on foes and structures. To balance the unit out, the Reaver moves quite slowly compared to other Protoss units.
5. Interceptor

Answer: Protoss

Small air units that are created and spawned from a Carrier, the Interceptor can only attack other air units or any flying buildings should they be trying to uproot and head elsewhere. Nearly uncontested in terms of force by volume in this regard, Interceptors fly in fleets of up to four, though you can double that amount if you've constructed a Fleet Beacon and learned the proper upgrades. Carriers, otherwise, are the most expensive Protoss unit in the game.
6. SCV

Answer: Terran

Your base builder unit on the Terran side, SCV stands for Space Construction Vehicle, implying its chief function in any setting. Unlike Probes, who can operate on a set-and-forget method of building, and Drones, who become the building they lay out to be, SCVs must stay attached to their construction project. They are, after all, human.
7. Ghost

Answer: Terran

A unique land unit for the Terran faction, the Ghost is most popular for its special tech since, through research conducted through the Academy and Covert Ops, this unit can cloak itself to sneak into enemy bases (provided they have no detection), disable mechanical units, and launch nukes provided they survive long enough to see their attack through.

Naturally, all the pieces need to fall into place (including having constructed a nuke) for this devastating event to occur.
8. Goliath

Answer: Terran

Built from a Factory, the Goliath is likely the last heavy ground unit you'll build (after the Vulture and the Siege Tank) since it requires advancements from the Armory to be developed (along with, possibly, its Machine Shop). Best-suited to firing at air units, it's fairly versatile for taking out slow-moving assaults from the sky.

This said, it's a slow-moving unit and generally easiest to manage when hunkered down.
9. Wraith

Answer: Terran

The basic Terran air unit, the Wraith is likely your go-to after you've constructed your first Starport, the base of operations for all air units in the Terran faction. Similar to the Protoss Scout and the Zerg Mutalisk, it can fight both land and air units effectively.

The catch is that with a Control Tower, Wraiths can quickly upgrade to have cloaking capabilities, not unlike the Ghost, and flit into battle in large groupings to do quick and efficient damage.
10. Battlecruiser

Answer: Terran

One of the strongest units in the game, the Battlecruiser is the culmination of most Terran efforts if bigger really is better. Requiring upgrades from the Control Tower and Physics Lab to be fully outfitted, the Battlecruiser can be effective at taking out large groups of enemy units or fire concentrated Yamato Gun blasts to devastate bases. Considering their strength it should come as no surprise that these are expensive benchmarks to attain and make.
11. Drone

Answer: Zerg

Similar to the Protoss Probe and the Terran SCV, the Zerb Drone can collect minerals and vespene gas to bring them back to the Hatchery (or Lair or Hive), but where these small units differ is that they also become the structures of the Zerg base, transforming themselves into an unnatural (or perfectly natural, considering their physiology) building of your choosing. Since all units and structures on a Zerg base are living things, you can decide, using your base's Larva, what you make. Drones take it the next step beyond that, creating buildings and spreading Creep to make more.
12. Hydralisk

Answer: Zerg

Although Zerglings are probably the better early ground units for anyone looking to make swift work of early foes, Hydralisks are important and strong assets for Zerg players moving into the mid-game. Hitting enemies with good spreads of damage, these Zerg units fire explosive damage. To make these, you need to have a Hydralisk Den created (which needs a Spawning Pool). You can subsequently create Lurkers out of them, evolving them into an even stronger land unit when you have a Lair.
13. Overlord

Answer: Zerg

While Protoss use a Shuttle and Terran use a Dropship, the Overlord is the transportation unit for the Zerg, allowing them to take land units further distances from the sky. The catch is that this early game unit also happens to be the primary means of supply for units; Protoss can hold more units in their stockpile with Pylons while Terran need Supply Depots.

This makes the Overlord, which can not defend itself in an actual battle, into both the weakest and one of the most necessary units in the game for a Zerg player.
14. Scourge

Answer: Zerg

Creatable once you develop a Spire structure, the Scourge is a unique unit in that its primary purpose is to kamikaze into other air units. Small in size but packing a might, devastating single hit, Scourge are cheap to make from a resource standpoint, especially since two can be spawned from a single Larva.

When travelling in a large enough group, their sheer numbers can balance the low HP that could, otherwise, prevent them from reaching their target.
15. Guardian

Answer: Zerg

Once you get to the later stages of Zerg construction and growth, your Hive should enable you to create a Greater Spire, further enhancing your air units' capabilities and allowing Mutalisks, your base-level air unit, to evolve into either a Guardian or a Devourer.

While Guardians can only attack ground units, Devourers can only attack air units. This being said, their ranges are second-to-almost-none, making them very effective in a number of circumstances on the battlefield.
