Disney Trivia Questions

2. What are the official names of Mickey Mouse's nephews, Morty and Ferdie Fieldmouse?

From Quiz Friends and Relatives of Mickey Mouse

Answer: Mortimer and Ferdinand

Morty and Ferdie Fieldmouse are twins. They appeared in Mickey's comic strip in 1932. They were first presented, like Donald Duck, without pants, but soon became more respectably covered with trousers. Sadly, the creators of these characters decided to remove Ferdie in 1943 because the twins were too much alike. Huh? They're twins for goodness sakes. Floyd Gottfredson, their creator, planned to bring Ferdie back as an intellectual, complete with an Eton hat. Alas though, he never got round to doing so, and, for a long time, Morty was on his own. In more recent times, Ferdie has re-appeared once more and both he and Morty are usually depicted as champion football players. How dull.

3. Who created the character of Donald Duck?

Walt Disney created the character of Donald Duck in 1934, and Donald's first animated film short was called "The Wise Little Hen".

Also known as Pluto the Pup, Mickey Mouse's dog, Pluto normally doesn't speak. For a short time in his early career, he did so however. Created in 1930 by the Walt Disney studio, Pluto today is a mixed breed, but, once again during his early career, he was portrayed as a bloodhound. He appeared in 89 films between the time of his creation until 1953 - several of which were nominated for Academy Awards. One of these actually did win an Oscar in 1941. This was called "Lend a Paw", with a storyline based around Pluto saving a kitten, which Micky Mouse adopts, resulting in Pluto becoming jealous. Pluto also has a girlfriend from time to time. She is Dinah the Dachshund, and their romance begins after Pluto rescues Dinah from the pound. This lovable pet belonging to Mickey Mouse is believed to be named after the newly discovered dwarf plant, Pluto, in 1930. His first appearance in a starring role was in the animated cartoon "Playful Pluto" (1934), in which he gets stuck on fly paper. His arch enemy is Butch the Bulldog, and he also has ongoing skirmishes with the two troublesome chipmunks, Chip and Dale, from time to time.
