Banja Luka hosted the May 2009 World Rafting Championships on rivers Tara in Banja Luka and Vrbas in Foča. The organizer of the World Championships was rafting club Kanjon. This championship was attended by people from 46 countries and had over 600 competitors. Brazil's men's team defended the world title in rafting, while the Canadian women celebrated in the women's team competition.

This was considered to be one of the region's biggest sports competitions since the Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo.
2. When was the Dayton Peace Agreement signed?

Answer: 1995

The main actors in the agreement were Alija Izetbegovic (President of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina), Slobodan Milosevic (President of the Republic of Serbia), and Franjo Tudjman (Croatian President). Representatives of the three states of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the main American negotiator, Ambassador Richard Holbrooke and Gen. Wesley Clark, also played key parts.

The Dayton Peace Agreement was named after the Air Force Base Wright-Patterson in Dayton, Ohio.

The agreement covered the arrangement of Bosnia and Herzegovina after the 1992-1995 war.
3. When did Bosnia and Herzegovina gain its independence?

Answer: March 1, 1992

Bosnia gained its independence from Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Independence was gained in March 1992, which was years after the decision of Bosnian citizens to put forth a referendum on self-determination. The first country to recognize the independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina was Bulgaria, and they did so on 15 January 1992.

The countries of the European Community recognized the independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina on 6th April of that year.
4. What are the official languages of Bosnia and Herzegovina?

Answer: Bosnian, Croatian, and Serbian

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the three "official" languages are Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian. For the local population it is of great importance to appoint the language spoken. In practical terms, though, it is one and the same language. The differences are similar to the differences between American and British English. Before the war in former Yugoslavia, the language was called Serbo-Croatian or Croatian-Serbian. That name is no longer used.

The Bosnian, Croatian, and Serbian languages belong to a group of Slavic languages.

Many words are similar to Czech or Slovak, and even Polish and Ukrainian languages.
5. In which town you can see the alleged "Bosnian Pyramids"?

Answer: Visoko

The "Bosnian Pyramids" were allegedly found in Visoko. The idea of pyramids in Visoko came from the theory of pseudo-explorer Semir Osmanagic, who claimed that not far from the town of Visoko there were pyramids built by human hands in the past. According to the same theory, the largest pyramid, Pyramid of the Sun (and the first of its kind in Europe), was situated on Visocica Hill, while the Pyramid of the Moon was on Pljesevica Hill. Researchers have tried to prove this theory since April 2006.

The theory has been rejected by both domestic and foreign experts in the fields of history and archeology.
