From Quiz "Oklahoma!" - the musical

Answer: Oh What A Beautiful Morning

When "Oklahoma" first opened, other shows at the time were known for their skimpy costumes and amazing spectacle. Frequently the curtain would come up just enough to see 'lots of legs' dancing during the opening number. "Oklahoma" opened with an older woman churning butter, birds chirping, and someone starting a pretty song from the wings.

Answer: are so like mine

7. What was the colorfully-titled 1931 stage play which formed the basis for the musical "Oklahoma!"?

From Quiz "Oklahoma!" O.K.

Answer: Green Grow the Lilacs

Lynn Riggs wrote "Green Grow the Lilacs" using traditional folk tunes (as suggested by the title) in telling a story about life in the Oklahoma Territory in 1906. The characters and the main plot remained unchanged in the musical. The play's ending was more ambiguous as to Curly's fate, and the sub-plot in which Will had to get fifty dollars in order to marry Ado Annie was added for the musical. "Green Grow the Lilacs" ran for 64 performances on Broadway, featuring Tex Ritter as Cord Elam, and Lee Strasberg as the Persian peddler. The play had several touring companies, and was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, but is largely forgotten today except as the source for "Oklahoma!".

17. Ali has a song, but what is it entitled?

From Quiz Ali Hakim - "Oklahoma!"'s Underrated Character

Answer: It's a Scandal! It's a Outrage!

This song was cut from the film in 1955, presumably because it was primarily speach-orientated and slowed down the pace of the rest of the show. The gramatical error is deliberate, because Hammerstein wrote his scripts phonetically.
