Alan Moore Trivia Questions

1. OK, one question about the film...who gets the creator credits for the original comic book in the movie version?

From Quiz
"V For Vendetta" (the graphic novel)

Answer: David Lloyd

Only David Lloyd gets a credit, as co-creator of the original story. Alan Moore notoriously dislikes Hollywood's handling of his stories, and that included the film version of "V For Vendetta." He refused to allow his name to appear in the credits, and assigned all payments due him for the rights to David Lloyd.

6. What was the name of the organized team of heroes written about in the graphic novel?

From Quiz "Watchmen" - the Graphic Novel

Answer: The Minutemen

The only organized hero team in the novel is the Minutemen, a group from the World War II era. The term Watchmen refers to masked hero society in general, but never was the name of a team. "Who watches the watchmen?" was a motto of the movement to outlaw costumed vigilantes. There was an attempt made to organize some of the remaining members of the Minutemen and some of the newer heroes into a group called the Crimebusters, but the effort failed.

7. As Gull and Netley pass Bedlam, Gull says he's heard men proclaim that they ruled what?

From Quiz "From Hell" - "What Doth The Lord..." Part 2

14. Norsefire, a coalition of fascistic splinter groups, comes to power in England following a major catastrophe. What was that event?

From Quiz "V For Vendetta" (the graphic novel)

Answer: World War III

The third world war seemed to involve limited nuclear exchanges (so that there is someplace left for the story to occur in), with England cut off from most of the world. There are references to chaotic social collapse in the US and parts of Europe, with the implication that the death and destruction were far greater beyond England's shores. However, disruptions in weather patterns, food shortages, and outbreaks of disease make conditions in England bad enough, and the promise of "normalcy" by Norsefire is enough to gain them the support of most of the population.

In letters it also reveals that Hooded Justice and Captain Metropolis were lovers and that Sally Jupiter helped them hide the fact by pretending to date Hooded Justice.

26. Which beach are Abberline and Lees taking their walk on?

From Quiz "From Hell" - "The Old Men On The Shore"

Answer: Bournemouth

All of these choices are coastal towns or cities in the south of England. Therefore, if the two men were to continue to meet up throughout their lives, Bournemouth would be a likely place.

27. Evey Hammond, a young girl who will be one of several central characters in the story, meets V as she is being arrested by "Fingermen" - members of the secret police. Why was she out after curfew and vulnerable to arrest?
