Arriving in Santiago, Chile late in the night, teams found a clue box inside the building and headquarters for Codelco. Here, one member of each team was required to enter a board room and search the entirety of the room for several hidden letters. To solve the puzzle, they would need to rearrange many of these letters to identify one of many locations depicted on artwork in the room. Specifically, they needed to identify Chuquicamata, a mine in Calama, Chile. Teams finishing this would then need to fly to Calama and find said mine. Members finishing this task included Joyce, Eric, Dustin, Bill, Kevin, Ian, Mary, Charla, Amber and Oswald.

Answer: 'Wrangle It'

After spending the night outside Pim's Restaurant in Quito, teams departed at designated times to make their way to Cotopaxi National Park, 65 miles outside the capital city. Here, teams needed to located Hacienda Yanahurco using a provided map to find the Detour. For this Detour, teams needed to choose between 'Wrangle It' and 'Recover It'. In 'Wrangle It', teams needed to allow a cowboy to lasso a horse so that they could tie it up, have its nails cut, and trim its mane and tail. Once they did this, teams would receive their next clue. In 'Recover It', teams needed to search through a field to find a sword, epaulet, and button off a uniform to receive their clue. All the teams completed 'Wrangle It' then proceeded to the Pit Stop, Mirador Cotopaxi.

Answer: Macau

In the beginning of Leg 11, the remaining four teams departed from the Pit Stop at the Hong Kong Jockey Club and boarded a turbo ferry to take them forty miles to Macau, China. Once at the ferry terminal on the other side, teams had to find a rickshaw driver who would give them their next clue, taking them to the Macau Tower. Because the tower wouldn't open until 10:00am, many of the teams became bunched together.

Teams read their first clue for this leg at the Pit Stop in Krakow, Poland instructing them to make their way five thousand miles to Kuala Lampur, Malaysia. Teams were split onto three different flights at this point, and once they landed, teams needed to take a train, then a bus to the Batu Caves. Uchenna and Joyce ended up missing their connecting flight in Frankfurt due to a slim transfer period.

Teams (some more than sixteen hours apart) opened their first clue of Leg 7 at Zanzibar's Old Fort. This clue directed them to Warsaw, Poland, more than five thousand miles away. Teams had the option of using tickets letting them arrive at a set time or getting earlier tickets. The two teams taking the designated tickets ended up trapped at Kilimanjaro Airport when their plane arrived minutes too late. This put them hours behind.

In the beginning of Leg 5, teams departed from the Pit Stop at the southern tip of Mastil de General Belgrano on Tierra del Fuego in Argentina with the instructions to head to Marshall Glacier. Here, teams had to take a chairlift and hike 1.5 miles to use an avalanche beacon to locate and dig for their next clue buried in the snow. Once teams found this, they were required to fly 7,000 miles to Maputo, Mozambique.

In the beginning of Leg 3, teams were instructed to drive four miles through the Valley of the Dead to San Pedro de Atacama where their next clue would be found outside the town church. Here, teams were told to fly more than eight hundred miles from Santiago to Puerto Montt. Once they landed, teams were told to travel by car to a fishery in Metri, thirty miles away.

In this race, eleven teams comprised of racers from previous seasons departed from Miami, Florida and took a flight to Quito, Ecuador. Teams could choose from two different flights six teams boarded a Copa Airlines flight arriving later, but departing earlier, while five teams taking a later departure time on an American Airlines flight arrived nearly two hours earlier. Once in Quito, teams needed to locate the Plaza San Francisco.

Teams needed to fly from Atacama to Puerto Montt in Chile, then drive themselves approximately thirty miles to the town of Metri on the Pacific Coast. Here, teams found their Road Block task. One member of each team was required to 'handle a slippery situation'. Here, teams needed to hop into a breeding tank, then carry and transfer eighty flounder fish to a different tank on the other side of the fish farm. Joe, Uchenna, Danielle, Amber, Kandice, Danny, Teri, David, and Mirna all participated in this one before heading onward to La Maquina and Petrohue River. Their clue upon finishing the Road Block would be written on the bottom of the breeding tank.

Answer: Rock climb

Arriving at La Maquina near Petrohue, Chile, teams found their Detour task, a choice between 'Vertical Limit' and 'River Wild'. In 'Vertical Limit', teams needed to go to a nearby rock wall and perform a forty foot rock climb. Both members would claim one half of the clue at the top. In 'River Wild', teams drove two miles upriver, then took a ride through Class III and IV river rapids on the Rio Petrohue. All nine participating teams completed 'River Wild' in this Detour task before advancing to the Pit Stop, Playa Petrohué.

Rob and Amber were eliminated very early in the race. Before this race, they got second place in another race.

When teams reached the sixty-first floor of the Macau Tower, teams found the final Yield of the race and Danny and Oswald used their Yield to hold Danielle and Eric back (as a favour to Dustin and Kandice, who gave them money in return for them to do it). This was the second time during the race where Eric and Danielle were held back by the Yield. After this, teams reached their clue box, which contained a Road Block.

The second team to step onto the mat at the Yield, Dustin and Kandice, ended up using it. Before arriving here, teams reached their clues at the Batu Caves instructing them to make their way ten miles by taxi to the Kampung Baru Mosque where they would reach their next clue on top of a bridge passing over the street. Eric and Danielle were the fourth team to step on the Yield mat and because of the situation, they were forced to wait.

Once teams landed in Warsaw, they needed to make their way to Czapski Palace on the grounds of Academia Palace. Here, they needed to find a Chopin impersonator playing a piece on the grounds. Once teams reached the clue box here, they could attempt their Detour task, a choice between the 'Perfect Angle' and 'Perfect Pitch' tasks, both in nearby locations.

Answer: Rat

Once teams landed in Mozambique, they needed to head to Apopo Training Field, forty-five miles away from the airport. Here, teams began their fourth Road Block task. This required that one team member from each team use a rat to detect a deactivated landmine buried in a specific area. Once a team member successfully used the rat to locate a flag, they'd receive their clue. Joe, Eric, Oswald, Charla, Ian, Dustin and Uchenna finished this task.

During the second Road Block of the race, teams were first required to jump into a large fish breeding tank. Once team members transferred eighty fish from a tank to a larger holding tank across the field, they could hop back in and copy their clue on the bottom of the tank. Amber, Danielle, Uchenna, Danny, Teri, Bill, Kandice, David, and Mirna participated in this task.

After obtaining their first clue at Plaza San Francisco, teams were instructed to head three miles to Pim's Restaurant where the manager would give them something. This turned out to be a departure time to leave for their next destination. Four teams departed at 7:00am, four at 7:15am, and three at 7:30am.

In Leg 4, teams found themselves at the southernmost regions of South America. In Ushuaia, teams took a boat to the post office at the end of the world on Isla Redonda. Here, team members completed the Road Block task in which they had to search through individual bags of mail containing over sixteen hundred letters for one of two written to them from previous racers (from their respective seasons). Once they read the letter, they could head to the Pit Stop at Mastil de General Belgrano. Oswald, Eric, Teri, Kandice, Bill, Joyce, Rob and Mirna completed the task.

In Leg 4, teams made their way to Punta Arenas on the southern tip of Chile and found a Detour task. In 'Navigate It', teams needed to use a map to locate a sailor with a compass in the city, then use the compass to head directly south until they found the location of their next clue. In 'Sign It', teams took materials to a map of Magellan's journey and correctly made a signpost containing all fourteen ports of call on his journey beginning and ending with Seville, Spain. Uchenna and Joyce were the only team to choose the latter task. After this, all teams headed to Ushuaia, Argentina, even further south.

Eric and Danielle were in the same race. Eric got second with his teammate while Danielle and her teammate were eliminated in seventh place.

For the Road Block, team members need to first run around the outer deck of the Macau Tower, nearly sixty-one floors above the street level. Then the chosen team members needed to perform the highest free-fall ever performed in the race; a drop of more than 660 feet. Kandice, Danny, Charla, and Eric completed the Road Block for this leg of the race before obtaining their clue sending them to Lou Lim Ieoc Garden.

At Kampung Baru Mosque, teams found the Detour. This posed the choice between 'Artistic Expression' and 'Cookie Confection'. In 'Artistic Expression', teams walked a third of a mile to Dewan Lama where they needed to copy a batik pattern identical to a display forty-five square feet large. Dustin and Kandice, Charla and Mirna, and Oswald and Danny completed this task. In 'Cookie Confection', teams walked half a mile to a market where they needed to search through six hundred boxes of cookies for one cookie with a black licorice center. Eric and Danielle completed this task.

In 'Perfect Pitch', teams were required to travel three quarters of a mile to Primus Palace. Once there, teams needed to go to a selected piano and determine which key was out of tune. After this, they would need to tune the correct piano string in order for a pianist to play a certain piece. Once this was correctly done, teams would receive their clue. Dustin and Kandice, Oswald and Danny, Uchenna and Joyce, and Eric and Danielle completed this task.

After the Road Block, teams were sent back to the city of Maputo where they needed to locate a clue box at Praça dos Trabalhadores near the center of the city. This is where teams obtained the clue containing their Detour tasks. In this Detour, the first task was 'Pamper', which required that teams travel half a mile to a nearby marked to paint enough fingernails to earn thirty metecais. Charla and Mirna, Dustin and Kandice and Teri and Ian completed this Detour quite quickly.

After the Road Block, teams needed to read their clues and drive nearly fifty miles to the outskirts of the town of Petrohué, where they could find their clues at La Moquina. For the first Detour task, teams could choose 'Vertical Limit', which required that the participants climb a forty foot rock wall to obtain two halves of a clue that would need to be read. None of the teams completed this task.

Once departing from Quito, teams were told to head sixty-five miles to Cotopaxi National Park. Once there, they had to enter the north entrance. Once they found Hacienda Yanahurko, they could find their Detour clue. In 'Recover It', one team member needed to dress up in a general's outfit and search the hills for three objects missing from their outfit. None of the teams completed this task.

In Leg 5, teams flew from Argentina to Mozambique and found a Road Block clue in the village of Bilene. Here, one member of each time needed to use a trained rat to locate a buried, but deactivated landmine in a small field. Once their rat successfully located a buried device, the team member would claim the clue. Joe, Eric, Oswald, Charla, Ian, Dustin and Uchenna completed this Road Block task and continued onward to the city of Maputo to find Praca dos Trabalhadores for their Detour.

Teri and Ian finished the third race in second, but Dustin and Kandice were eliminated in fourth in Race #10 while Rob and Amber got second under Uchenna and Joyce in their race.

After the Detour, teams travelled six miles to Taman Sri Hartamas where they found the Road Block requiring that one team member take a bicycle and a side-cart through the neighbourhood to collect recyclable newspapers. Once they successfully pedalled a stack of papers eight hands high to the starting point, they'd receive their clues. Kandice, Mirna, Danielle, and Danny finished this task.
