1. In Leg 1, teams headed to Quito, Ecuador. All teams participating completed which Detour task?

Answer: 'Wrangle It'

After spending the night outside Pim's Restaurant in Quito, teams departed at designated times to make their way to Cotopaxi National Park, 65 miles outside the capital city. Here, teams needed to located Hacienda Yanahurco using a provided map to find the Detour. For this Detour, teams needed to choose between 'Wrangle It' and 'Recover It'.

In 'Wrangle It', teams needed to allow a cowboy to lasso a horse so that they could tie it up, have its nails cut, and trim its mane and tail. Once they did this, teams would receive their next clue.

In 'Recover It', teams needed to search through a field to find a sword, epaulet, and button off a uniform to receive their clue. All the teams completed 'Wrangle It' then proceeded to the Pit Stop, Mirador Cotopaxi.
2. In Leg 3, what did teams need to do for the 'Vertical Limit' Detour task?

Arriving at La Maquina near Petrohue, Chile, teams found their Detour task, a choice between 'Vertical Limit' and 'River Wild'. In 'Vertical Limit', teams needed to go to a nearby rock wall and perform a forty foot rock climb. Both members would claim one half of the clue at the top.

In 'River Wild', teams drove two miles upriver, then took a ride through Class III and IV river rapids on the Rio Petrohue. All nine participating teams completed 'River Wild' in this Detour task before advancing to the Pit Stop, Playa Petrohué.

In Leg 4, teams made their way to Punta Arenas on the southern tip of Chile and found a Detour task. In 'Navigate It', teams needed to use a map to locate a sailor with a compass in the city, then use the compass to head directly south until they found the location of their next clue.

In 'Sign It', teams took materials to a map of Magellan's journey and correctly made a signpost containing all fourteen ports of call on his journey beginning and ending with Seville, Spain. Uchenna and Joyce were the only team to choose the latter task.

After this, all teams headed to Ushuaia, Argentina, even further south.
4. In Leg 5, teams needed to perform which of these actions in the 'Pamper' Detour choice in Mozambique?

Heading to the city of Maputo in Leg 5, teams found a choice between 'Pamper' and 'Porter'. In 'Pamper', teams needed to go to Maputo Central Market, collect a nail painting kit, and paint enough nails to earn thirty meticals. Those completing the 'Porter' Detour option needed to go to Market de Janet to fill ten bags with coal, then sew them shut and deliver one to a specific address to receive their clue. Charla and Mirna, Dustin and Kandice, and Teri and Ian completed 'Pamper' while the others completed 'Porter'.

After the Detour, teams made their way to the Pit Stop: Fortaleza de Maputo.
5. In Leg 7 in Poland, teams completed a Detour task called 'Perfect Pitch' requiring that they tune what instrument?

In Leg 7, teams flew to Warsaw to find their Detour clue at Czapski Palace. Here, teams needed to choose between 'Perfect Pitch' and 'Perfect Angle'. In 'Perfect Pitch' they traveled a quarter of a mile to Prymas Palace where they needed to choose a grand piano and tune one key of the instrument. Once a pianist performed a piece by Chopin on their handiwork, they would receive their clue. Dustin and Kandice, Oswald and Danny, Eric and Danielle, and Uchenna and Joyce completed this task.

In the other task, 'Perfect Angle', teams received a mannequin from a city boutique and carried it to the Panoramik Laboratory. Using an x-ray machine, teams needed to turn the mannequin to read the next location in one of its body parts. Charla and Mirna and Bill and Joe finished this task.

After this Detour, teams went to Lazienki Park.
6. In Leg 8 (in Poland), which team did not complete the Detour?

In Leg 8, teams found themselves Intersected while making their way through Krakow, Poland. Teaming up, Uchenna and Joyce and Oswald and Danny completed the Fast Forward task and avoided both the Detour and Road Block. Meanwhile, the other teams chose between 'Eat It Up' and 'Roll It Out'.

In 'Eat It Up', teams needed to band together to eat a combined total of eight feet of kielbasa sausage (two feet each) to receive their clue. In 'Roll It Out', teams needed to travel to a nearby bakery and make twenty bagels, then deliver them to a restaurant to claim their clue. All four participating teams completed 'Eat It Up', then proceeded to Pieskowa Skala.
7. In Leg 9, teams chose between 'Artistic Expression' and a Detour task using which food?

In Leg 9, teams found a Detour clue on a pathway in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia. Here, teams needed to choose between 'Artistic Expression' in which they needed to replicate a patterned batik painting technique on a four meter square piece of cloth or 'Cookie Confection' in which they were required to search through over six hundred boxes of cookies for one with a black licorice center (though they could only determine this by biting into them). Only Eric and Danielle were able to finish 'Cookie Confection' while Oswald and Danny, Charla and Mirna, and Dustin and Kandice finished 'Artistic Expression'. Uchenna and Joyce were unable to make it to Malaysia in time to complete the tasks and were eliminated upon their arrival in Kuala Lampur.

In Leg 11, teams found the Detour clue at Lou Lim Ieoc Garden in Macau. Upon arriving they needed to choose between 'Noodle' and 'Dragon'. In 'Noodle', teams found a noodle-making station in a nearby building and, using traditional methods, made two bundles of proper noodles.

In 'Dragon', teams needed to locate a wooden dragon head and a ceremonial drum, then carry them three quarters of a mile to a local dock to receive their next clue instructing them to go to a series of parked mini mokes, then drive to the Pit Stop at Trilho da Taipa Pequena 2000 Park. Only Oswald and Danny chose the latter task.

In Leg 12, teams completed tasks on the small Pacific island of Guam. Here, upon arriving at Andersen Air Force Base in Yigo, teams needed to pick either 'Care Package' or 'Engine Care'. In 'Care Package', teams needed to load a crate with five hundred pounds of care items, load it into a plane, then perform a thirty minute exercise in delivering humanitarian care packages. Only Charla and Mirna took this task.

The remaining three teams took 'Engine Care' in which they needed to properly clean different parts of a B-52 Bomber including an engine pod and wing flap.

After the Detour, teams drove to Orote Peninsula.

In Leg 13, teams flew to Hawaii and completed their final Detour task on the island of Lanai at Kaumalapau Harbor. Here, a choice was made between 'Under' and 'Over'. In 'Under', teams needed to don snorkel gear and swim into an underwater cave where their clue would be anchored to the cave floor. Eric and Danielle and Dustin and Kandice completed this task. Charla and Mirna completed 'Over' in which they stood on a paddleboat and paddled to their next clue on a buoy in the water.

After the Detour, teams visited Shipwreck Beach before flying to their final destination city: San Francisco, California.
