Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Leg 2, teams completed their first Road Block task in Chile. What word did team members need to spell?

Answer: Chuquicamata

Arriving in Santiago, Chile late in the night, teams found a clue box inside the building and headquarters for Codelco. Here, one member of each team was required to enter a board room and search the entirety of the room for several hidden letters. To solve the puzzle, they would need to rearrange many of these letters to identify one of many locations depicted on artwork in the room. Specifically, they needed to identify Chuquicamata, a mine in Calama, Chile. Teams finishing this would then need to fly to Calama and find said mine. Members finishing this task included Joyce, Eric, Dustin, Bill, Kevin, Ian, Mary, Charla, Amber and Oswald.
2. Flying to Puerto Montt, Chile in Leg 3, what did teams need to deal with in the Road Block?

Answer: Fish

Teams needed to fly from Atacama to Puerto Montt in Chile, then drive themselves approximately thirty miles to the town of Metri on the Pacific Coast. Here, teams found their Road Block task. One member of each team was required to 'handle a slippery situation'.

Here, teams needed to hop into a breeding tank, then carry and transfer eighty flounder fish to a different tank on the other side of the fish farm. Joe, Uchenna, Danielle, Amber, Kandice, Danny, Teri, David, and Mirna all participated in this one before heading onward to La Maquina and Petrohue River.

Their clue upon finishing the Road Block would be written on the bottom of the breeding tank.
3. Where did teams complete the Argentinean Road Block in Leg 4?

Answer: A post office

In Leg 4, teams found themselves at the southernmost regions of South America. In Ushuaia, teams took a boat to the post office at the end of the world on Isla Redonda. Here, team members completed the Road Block task in which they had to search through individual bags of mail containing over sixteen hundred letters for one of two written to them from previous racers (from their respective seasons). Once they read the letter, they could head to the Pit Stop at Mastil de General Belgrano. Oswald, Eric, Teri, Kandice, Bill, Joyce, Rob and Mirna completed the task.
4. In Leg 5 in Mozambique, team members needed to use what type of animal to locate a landmine?

Answer: Rat

In Leg 5, teams flew from Argentina to Mozambique and found a Road Block clue in the village of Bilene. Here, one member of each time needed to use a trained rat to locate a buried, but deactivated landmine in a small field. Once their rat successfully located a buried device, the team member would claim the clue. Joe, Eric, Oswald, Charla, Ian, Dustin and Uchenna completed this Road Block task and continued onward to the city of Maputo to find Praca dos Trabalhadores for their Detour.
5. Leg 6 of the race was held in Zanzibar. Which team member did not complete this accuracy Road Block (using a rungu)?

Answer: Teri

In Leg 6, teams found the Road Block at a Maasai village outside Kikungwi. This task required that one member of each team learn how to throw a rungu, a weapon similar to a club. They needed to throw this to break one clay target 65 feet away to receive their next clue. Mirna, Danny, Uchenna, Dustin, Danielle, Bill and Ian all finished this task and continued onward to the Pit Stop: the Old Fort (known as Ngome Kongwe) in Zanzibar City.
6. In Leg 8, team members needed to don which of these during a Road Block task in Poland?

Answer: A suit of armor

In Leg 8, teams departed from Krakow and found their Road Block task outside Pieskowa Skala in Suloszowa, Poland. Here, one member of each team was required to don a suit of armor and walk half a mile along a forest path to a stable where they could hand off their steed.

After this, they needed to enter the castle grounds and search for the next Pit Stop to check in. Charla, Dustin, Eric, and Bill completed this Road Block task. Neither Uchenna and Joyce nor Oswald and Danny needed to complete the Detour since they claimed the Fast Forward.
7. In Leg 9 in Malaysia, team members completing a newspaper-collecting Road Block needed to ride which of these during the task?

Answer: Bicycle

Upon arriving at Taman Sri Hartamas, a neighbourhood in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia, teams found a Road Block task in which one member of each team needed to hop onto a bike with a sidecar and ride it through the neighbourhood collecting old newspapers to recycle. Once teams collected enough newspapers to make a stack eight hands high in their sidecar, they would be able to receive the clue leading them to the Pit Stop, Carcosa Seri Negara. Kandice, Mirna, Danielle and Danny completed this Road Block task while neither Uchenna nor Joyce could participate as their flight arrived in the city long after other teams had completed the leg.
8. How many individuals completed the door-bashing Road Block task in Leg 10 in Hong Kong?

Answer: Three

In Leg 10, teams found the Road Block task in the Police Quarter of Hong Kong's Kennedy Town and one member of each participating team needed to head into a building and kick down doors to find a room containing their next clue. After the Road Block, teams traveled to Causeway Bay and Victoria Park to find their next clue box leading to the Pit Stop. Kandice, Charla, and Eric all finished this Road Block task and continued on. Neither Oswald nor Danny completed this Road Block as they had claimed the Fast Forward clue during this leg of the race allowing them to skip all tasks and go directly to the Pit Stop.
9. Leg 11 in Macau saw teams completing a harrowing Road Block jumping from what structure's observation deck?

Answer: Macau Tower

Arriving at Macau Tower in the eleventh Leg of the race, teams found a Yield (which Oswald and Danny used on Eric and Danielle after being bribed by Dustin and Kandice) and a Road Block task which required that one member of each team walk in a circle around the outer rim of the structure's observation deck, then perform a drop from 660 feet to the ground below.

This frightening task was completed by Kandice, Danny, Charla, and Eric. After this task, teams made their way to the Detour at Lou Lim Ieoc Garden.
10. In Leg 12, teams completed the final Road Block of the race on which island in the Pacific?

Answer: Guam

In Leg 12, teams flew from Macau to Guam and completed a final Road Block task at the U.S. Naval Base at the Orote Peninsula. Here, one member of each team was required to complete a search and rescue exercise in which they used a GPS tracker to locate a hidden U.S. soldier.

When they found this person, they would receive new coordinates to a landing spot where they would need to signal a helicopter to deliver them to their next clue. Dustin, Oswald, Charla and Danielle finished this task before heading to the race's final Pit Stop: Fort Nuestra Senora de la Soledad.
