Teams finished Leg 6 at Fort Mississauga only to be told they were continuing racing onward immediately into Leg 7. With Ty and Kat and Ben and Anwar already heading to the charter bus to catch their VIA Rail train with tickets in-hand, the other four teams were faced with a little pop quiz for the last seats on the first ride out-- Tyler and Kayleen took these seats, answering questions about their previous legs. The other three teams had to take the later train, arriving ten minutes later. Clues directed teams further southwest to Windsor, Ontario where their next clues would be waiting in a fleet of Chevrolet Equinox RS vehicles outside the train station. On the train, teams also discovered that they would win $5,000 from Samsung if they completed the first challenge of the leg in first place.

Teams started their fifth leg of the race from Sooke, British Columbia, down near Victoria on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, and proceeded to a charter bus stop to catch a ride to Ucluelet, B.C., further up along the west coast. The two buses available would deliver teams fifteen minutes apart in Ucluelet Harbour where they would have to drive brand-new Chevrolet Silverados to Hotel Zed in Tofino and experience a tarot reading (though they would end up spending a night at a MacKenzie Beach bonfire first). Once they received their psychic session, they could put themselves to work, heading back into Ucluelet to visit Ukee Ice Manufacturing Company and haul nearly eighty pounds of crushed ice to a local business in town. Completing the delivery and returning to the starting point would get them their next clue enclosed in a block of ice.

Teams headed out from the small Northern B.C. town of Smithers at the start of Leg 3 and were informed that they would be flying south to Vancouver to start. Upon arriving in this major city, they would have to find the Guru-sponsored sign-up board waiting for them in Queen Elizabeth Park. There, they would get set up on one of two buses that would take them to Whistler, high in the Rocky Mountains. The Whistler inuksuk would be where they would locate their Detour clue.

Ten teams united in the snowy weather where the Red and Assiniboine Rivers meet at The Forks National Historic Site in Winnipeg, Manitoba and it was there that they commenced a race around Canada in "The Amazing Race Canada 9". Before departing from the Esplanade Riel, Jon informed the racers of a new addition-- the Assist, sponsored by Desjardins. Every team could use the Assist once during the race on designated challenges to help them out; when they used it would be up to them. With a 'go', the teams raced across the Red River to their bags and opened their first clues sending them to the Qaumajuq Visible Vault, the exhibit at the Winnipeg Art Gallery. There, taking a name at random, teams had to search through more than five thousand pieces of Inuit art across three stories for a sculpture matching their provided title. If they could match it using the digital locator they could get the artist's name and trade it for their next clue.

Racing from Winnipeg to Calgary in Leg 1, teams landed to find a Road Block clue waiting for them at the airport, and once they selected a team member they could take a cab to the Calgary Central Library to embark on their first such task. In this challenge, the chosen racer had to head to the roof and perform a rappel down the side of the building, stopping off to read the words on three yellow flags hanging from the side. If they could read all three, remember them, and recite them at the bottom, they could proceed to their next destination: Betty Lou's Library.

Racers wrapped up their Road Block before being directed to the Hotel X Toronto building at the Canadian National Exhibition grounds. There, they would encounter the race's final Face Off, and need to go head-to-head against each other in a series of tennis matches. On the 10XTO rooftop courts, racers would compete in a series of five doubles matches. Teams to win the best-of-five could continue; the last team waiting would receive a penalty. Said penalty went to Ty and Kat, who arrived at the task in last.

After their lengthy bus rides, teams ripped open their Detour and chose either 'Woods' or 'Water'. In 'Water', teams visited Whistler's Scandinave Spa and needed to dive into two pools-- one an icy, cold plunge pool and the other a hot water bath-- to locate numbered tiles which, when combined, would spell a word that they could recite for their next clue. In 'Woods', teams instead raced to the Squamish Lil'Wat Cultural Centre and had to learn the differences between Squamish and Lil'Wat languages, memorizing ten words in each language and translating them back at the Cultural Centre. Most teams completed 'Water' (quickly) while three finished 'Woods'.

Answer: 'Who likes that new car smell?'

Travelling to the northern B.C. town of Smithers in Leg 2, teams passed into the back half of the leg with a Road Block task at the local car dealership. Heading to Coast Mountain GM, the selected participants (Jaspal, Ty, Gracie, Anwar, Jermaine, Joel, Kayleen, Deven, and Eddie) needed to memorize twenty different features of the all-new Chevrolet Trax RS2. Then, after reviewing a script, they needed to perform a sales presentation for a prospective buyer in an attempt to sell the vehicle. If they could hit all their beats, they would collect their next clue.

When teams pushed out of their Face Off they were told to take a cab to The Immersion Room, crossing the city and taking a breather after two intensely physical challenges. Upon arriving, they needed to dress as astronauts and memorize a script for an alien encounter. The catch is that racers would have to do so in a completely made-up language (named Blergh), reciting their lines word-for-word and then taking a selfie with an alien on a Samsung smartphone to get their next clue. If they could accomplish all of this, they could race back across town to Kensington Market and get their next task at the Fika Cafe.

Finishing the Detour, teams were informed that they would be diving into a Face-Off, taking turns going head-to-head in a game of Texas Hold 'Em. Going to the Rock Bottom Bar & Grill, teams would be given two cards face-down and engage in ten games of poker with the winning team-- the one with the most chips-- getting their next clue and the losing team facing off against the next one in line. The last team to depart the challenge, ?????, had to wait out a fifteen minute time penalty before continuing on.

Answer: "Will you marry me?"

As soon as teams wrapped up their Detours they received Road Block clues with the innocuous prompt of "who's well-read?". What they found was that the selected team member would need to go to Whistler Bungee and take the on hundred sixty foot plunge into the canyon below. At the same time, they needed to hold onto a Samsung smartphone and film using both the front and back cameras while locating the hidden phrase "Will you marry me?" Reciting this phrase at the end of the jump would get them their next clue. Lily, Derek, Justin, Ty, Kayleen, Joel, Ben, and Deven were selected for this task.

Landing in Calgary, teams received a clue specifying the Express Passes and if they so chose they could head out to try for three of them before or after completing the Road Block. For this additional challenge, racers had to head into the Calgary Central Library to find the 'Calgary's Story' collection. Once there they needed to search through a specific section of books to find one with a race flag on the outside spine; this book would contain three Express Passes and they could claim one for themselves and hand off the other two. Ty and Kat managed to find the book first, taking all three.

Visiting Whistler and Pemberton in Leg 3, teams drove themselves to Whistler Bungee for their Road Block task and one member of each duo was required to perform a hundred-and-sixty foot bungee jump to complete their task. Along the way, the jumper would need to use a Samsung smartphone to record a message found under the bridge, then recite that message to the jump instructor to get their next clue. Though Lily, Derek, Ty, Kayleen, Joel, Ben, and Deven completed this task, Justin opted to take a penalty on this one, ultimately forcing him and Jermaine to check in in last place.

Completion of the Detour allowed teams to embark on their Leg 5 Road Block, and for this one, one team member needed to be 'ready to knock on wood'. For this challenge, teams headed to North Chesterman Beach and the selected teammate had to locate the Sitka spruce trees, joining a group of aerialists to learn a choreographed dance consisting of nine different poses then performing them suspended in the forest. Teams who needed help were able to use their Assist on this task, reducing the amount of poses they needed to five (instead of nine). Tyler and Kayleen and Gracie and Lily used theirs at this opportunity.

Once teams finished their shopping tour of Toronto, they could proceed to the edge of Lake Ontario and step on the Pit Stop mat on Sunnyside Beach, hoping for a spot in the final three and the last leg. This time, Tyler and Kayleen landed on the mat in first place to secure that spot, winning themselves a trip for two to Melbourne, Australia courtesy of Expedia.ca. The pair were followed by alliance-mates Ben and Anwar and front-running team Ty and Kat who checked in in second and third. It meant that Deven and Amanda were last to hit the mat and, as such, they were eliminated just before the final leg.

Upon completing the wind turbine challenge, teams could drive themselves to the race's seventh Pit Stop waiting for them at the southernmost point of Canada along the sandbanks of Point Pelee National Park. Ty and Kat regained their first place position after the Face-Off, this time winning a trip for two to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from Expedia.ca and winning their fourth leg out of seven thus far. Losing the Face-Off proved to be a death knell for Derek and Jaspal who, landing on the mat in sixth place, were eliminated.

When teams finished their Road Block tasks, they were directed to their fifth Pit Stop of the race waiting for them at Long Beach in the picturesque Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. On the water's edge, Tyler and Kayleen ran through the sand to the mat to collect a first place win-- their first-- taking with them a trip for two to New Orleans courtesy of Expedia. Despite using their Assist, Gracie and Lily were unable to keep up with the pack after arriving late to the Blind Double Pass. Because of this, and despite strong showings in earlier legs, they were eliminated from the race in seventh place.

If teams could locate their two labelled golf balls then they would be able to proceed on foot to the third Pit Stop of the race located at the seventeenth hole of the Big Sky Golf and Country Club. Gracie and Lily led the pack through the entire leg and managed to translate that lead into a win, taking with them a trip for two to Oslo, Norway courtesy of Expedia.ca. As Justin opted to take a penalty at the bungee jump task and because he and Jermaine took another penalty at the place setting task, the duo had accrued a six hour time penalty. They arrived at the mat, having used the Assist, in fifth place but dropped to last with the extra time. Fortunately for them, they were spared because they checked in at a pre-determined non-elimination point.

After teams finished their Detours, teams could hop into a cab and make their way to their very first Pit Stop for the race at the edge of the Peace Bridge on the Bow River. If they could find Jon there they could get their placement and, hopefully, stay in the race. Ty and Kat were first to arrive, managing to stay ahead of the pack since the library tasks and claiming a trip for two to Berlin, Germany courtesy of Expedia.

Teams could choose at their whims in Leg 6 as they were presented with a simple choice between 'Here' and 'There', each of which sent them to an address thirty minutes out of St. Catharines, Ontario with no further instructions until their arrival. In 'Here', teams had the less labour-intensive task of using detail-orientation to create three complex floral bouquets while in 'There', teams had to learn how to paddle a double scull on the Welland Canal. Most teams inadvertently made it to 'Here' while Ty and Kat and Derek and Jaspal visited the water. Ty and Kat, the last team with an Express Pass in hand, used it to pass the challenge entirely.

Starting Leg 6 in Tofino, B.C., racers opened their clues with the reminder that they would need to use either their Express Passes or their Assists by the end of this stretch of tasks, and those would be completed in Southern Ontario's Niagara Region. After flying halfway across the country more than four thousand kilometres, teams would hop into a brand-new Chevrolet Blazer RS at Pearson International Airport and open a clue leading them to Salem Chapel in St. Catharines. After learning about Harriet Tubman in a local tour about the Underground Railroad, they would receive their next clue.

Leaving early from Downtown Calgary, Alberta at the start of Leg 2, teams ripped open their clues and followed instructions that would take them to the airport for one of two flights to the small town of Smithers, British Columbia. Four teams would make it on the first flight and five teams would depart fifteen minutes later. Upon landing they would find a clue in a marked vehicle in the airport parking lot. They could drive to the Frontier Experience Lodge for their next task.

This was a unique instance as teams not only had a double Road Block in this leg, meaning that the second Road Block was required to be completed by the racer who did not do the first, but it was also the last opportunity for teams to use their Desjardins-provided Assist during the race, so the four teams still holding onto theirs (Ty and Kat, Ben and Anwar, Derek and Jaspal, and Deven and Amanda) all used it. In this challenge, the participating racers (Kat, Anwar, Tyler, Derek, Jermaine, and Amanda) had to navigate a grape harvester through a vineyard, collecting water to bring back to fill two deep troughs. If they used their Assist, they only had to fill one.

Heading into Windsor, Ontario, the remaining six teams were hit with an early Detour task which warned that there would be limited opportunities on both sides of the selection. In both cases, only three teams would be able to work away at their task at a time, first-come-first-serve. This meant that the first train of racing teams got into 'Sculpt' quickly, sending them to build a sculpture puzzle along the edge of the Detroit River. The remaining teams completed 'Swing' at Willistead Manor, forcing them to learn a two-minute swing dance routine to the approval of an instructor.

Teams raced on to the St. Catharines Propulsion Plant after their stop at the Salem Church and it was done with a Road Block task in-hand. For this challenge, one team member needed to be 'up to speed', joining the General Motors auto workers there to learn to make a V8 engine head. After watching an ongoing demonstration, the racers had to assemble and disassemble the engine head in the allotted time of two minutes and ten seconds to get their next clue. Kayleen, Deven, Ben, Jaspal, Ty, and Justin were chosen for this task though Ben and Kayleen used their Express Passes to opt out of completing it.

Driving to the Frontier Experience Lodge, teams needed to suit up and go swimming in the frigid Bulkley River. Throughout the river, attached to fenced checkpoints, they could locate ten different types of artificial fish anchored just below the water's surface. If they could collect those ten different species-- one of each-- then they could trade them for their next clue. Teams could also, if they elected to, use their Assist to cut that number in half. None of them did. After this task, teams were told to tune their car radios to 93.9 CICK FM, Smithers' Community Radio station, which would direct them to their next destination, the Bulkley Valley Museum. Once there, teams had to play 'Who's Your Partner?', a game in which they met with Jon and were asked five questions about their teammate and had to answer them on a Samsung smartphone. Matching three of the five answers would allow them to get their next clue.

Answer: Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD)

Heading to Toronto's largest city in Leg 9, the final four teams opened clues at the Toronto Stock Exchange and headed to OCAD, the unique, raised structure that would act as the site of their Road Block. There, one racer from each pair had to use a mechanical ascender to pull themselves up ninety feet along the pillars supporting the building. If they could reach the top of their pillar, they could grab their next clue. Ben, Tyler, Ty, and Deven completed this task before racing on through the city.

Answer: None

Although racers occasionally found use for this new race mechanic during Road Block tasks, the Assist was most frequently used for active Route Info tasks that required a quantity of completed or found items. With this pseudo-Express Pass, racers could hand in the Assist, usable on one task per leg until Leg 6, to make the specified task a bit easier to complete. Choosing when in the race to use it would be the tough part. Since Detours are a choice between two tasks, it's likely the Assist was not usable for any because it would've required balanced use on both sides of the Detour.

Following the last Road Block, teams had one more order of business: their memory challenge. Heading to the Queen's Marque on the Halifax Waterfront Boardwalk, racers needed to solve a massive crossword puzzle with answers recalling events from all ten legs of the race. Once they had all twenty-five clues answered correctly, they could get their final clue and head to the Bonaventure Anchor, the finish line. After six provinces, eleven cities, and over twelve thousand kilometres, it was Ty and Kat who crossed the finish line first, winning themselves the all-new 2023 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, a trip for two around the world courtesy of Guru Organic Energy and the $250,000 prize (powered by Samsung).

Racers left the Road Block and headed twenty-five kilometres through Saguenay to the city of Chicoutimi bound for La Pulperie de Chicoutimi, at one time the largest wood pulp producer in the world. This leg was won by Tyler and Kayleen, who jostled with first place alongside Ty and Kat all leg. For their win, they took a trip for two to Valparaiso, Chile courtesy of Expedia.ca. The last team to check in this time, for the third time in the race, was Jermaine and Justin. This time, they weren't spared from elimination, leaving the race in fifth place.
