The Glee kids of McKinley High are somewhat eager to go to Regionals considering how well they're doing...that is until Rachel informs them that there's a major issue. When they head to the auditorium, the Glee club from Carmel High School, Vocal Adrenaline, decides to one-up them before the competition even begins. To start, Jesse decides to let New Directions know that he has transferred back to Vocal Adrenaline because of the way he's been treated. They then decide to demonstrate their performance of Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" to frighten the McKinley kids. Rachel is very much put off by Jesse's deception and the rest of the club recognizes this as Carmel High tradition to psych out the competition (called a 'funkification' since Carmel shows what they can do and the other teams go into a deep funk). When they head to the choir room however, they realize that the place has been covered with toilet paper.

Surprisingly it is Tina, one of the relatively quiet, introverted students in Will's Glee Club, who finds herself on the other side of Figgins' desk. It turns out that she's in trouble for her clothing style (which he states is known as 'Goth'). Since the school is being hit by "Twilight-fever", Figgins is setting out to ensure that students don't become vampires obsessed with the occult. Just the previous day, Jacob Ben Israel was attacked by supposedly-vampiric students. Will and Tina deduce that Figgins believes in vampires and they try to dissuade his choice, but his mind is made up. A strict dress code creates a stable environment with less vampirism. There is no choice; Tina must find new clothes or risk suspension.

Principal Figgins invites Will into his office in the beginning of the episode to meet the newest member of the school board: Bryan Ryan. Will isn't thrilled. The two of them were in Glee Club in high school and Bryan was two years older (and he got all the girls). Bryan, as a member of the school board, now has control over the funding of the region's high school art programs. The plan is to cut the Glee Club. As Bryan elaborates, he states that while glee Club was his life and he hit the big time after his show choir training, he came crashing down when his dreams were shattered years later. Now, he runs a used Hummer dealership and considers himself 'reformed'. In fact, he also runs a show choir conversion clinic for those suffering from the negative effects of show choir backgrounds. Figgins makes Will let Mr. Ryan speak to the kids.

The episode opens with Puck's mohawk getting a shave. When he arrives at school he realizes that he no longer possesses the power he once had over the kids in the hallways. Upon walking into the choir room, Brittany doesn't even recognize him. Santana says that she doesn't know whether it's his whining or his lack of mohawk, but she's no longer turned on by him. The nerds of the school are able to overthrow him and actually toss him into the dumpster (like he once did to them). That's when it hits him: Mercedes was once unpopular, but now that she's a Cheerio she's all kinds of popular. To rise back through the ranks of the school, he needs to date a Cheerio. Rachel, meanwhile, tells Will that she needs to take her several vitamin supplements because she felt a tickle in the back of her throat and she's exhausted. Every song she sings is a solo. While she likes the spotlight, it's difficult for her to maintain...especially considering her recent mission.

Kurt claims to have found it inside a locked cabinet of Sue Sylvester's office and the kids end up watching her sing and dance to the song "Physical" by Olivia Newton John in their classroom. Both Jesse and Finn decide that putting the video onto Youtube is the most obvious decision to make. By afternoon, the whole school knows about it and kids are making fun of it in the halls in front of Ms. Sylvester. She brings Will to Principal Figgins' office to reveal that one of the kids in Glee Club must have done it. An additional piece of evidence: someone has been posting a 'Glist' around the school, a list of Glee Club kids ranked by their reputations and images within the school. Figgins agrees that this may have gone too far. One of the kids in Glee had to have done it based on the library computer login information. Figgins tells Will that he'll need to find out who did it and suspend them or else the entire club will need to be held responsible.

Sue sits Kurt and Mercedes down in her office and talks to them seriously. While Mercedes is an amazing singer, she needs to change her image to stay on the team. Sue informs her that she will need to lose ten pounds before the "Splits Magazine" interview or else she'll be cut from Cheerios. Sue also insults Kurt during this talk. Will also has trouble with Sue. Since she has padlocked the auditorium shut to have her Cheerios practice for the interview, the kids in Glee can't perform. To make things worse, Sue's blackmailing Principal Figgins, so he's no help. Will is forced to tell the kids the bad news and go on a hunt for a place to practice off-site for the week.

Sue begins this episode by harnessing her immense obsession with Madonna, a woman who she feels exudes power like no other. Finishing up a journal entry about the musician she heads to Figgins' office to inform him that he will be playing Madonna's "Greatest Hits" album over the school PA system at ear-splitting volumes all day, every day. Figgins disagrees saying it would be insanity, but Sue recalls her plan to blackmail him with pictures she took in the previous episode, "Hell-O". She also suggests that they round up certain students and send them to New York with nothing but $35, just like Madonna did when she was starting out. Sue speaks with the Cheerios and suggests the question "What would Madonna do?" Sue informs them that the answer would be to date a younger man, and that is their assignment: find arm candy. She also states that she will no longer be calling them by last name, only by their first.

Fresh off their win at Sectionals, Rachel, Mercedes, and Kurt all feel optimistic about their standings in the the school. Making their way down the halls, however, they are all ambushed with slushie facials, proving that nothing has really changed for any of them. Will, meanwhile, is called into Figgins' office to talk about the Glee Club. This time, he states that they must place at Regionals, the next competition, to stay afloat. While Will may have proven the validity of the club at Sectionals, the lights in the auditorium, as Figgins puts it, do not run on dreams. In addition, the Cheerios need the auditorium to practice while it gets colder out. Will comments that the Cheerios have no coach, but Sue walks in having been reinstated in the role. Will is dumbfounded. Finn, in the meantime, has picked up on basketball as football season is now over. Despite this, he's still distracted and somewhat depressed. While he likes Rachel, he can't get over Quinn (who's having a hard enough time with Puck). The truth is, he's confused.

Considering the events of the previous episode, Will is unable to take the kids having been disqualified for accepting a hand-out from a local mattress shop for which the kids performed a commercial. For breaking the rules, Will was barred from coaching. Emma, despite having her wedding on the same day at around the same time offers to take the kids for him. Meanwhile, Rachel lets on that she thinks that Puck, Quinn, and Finn are acting weird about Quinn's pregnancy. When she lets the others know, it turns out that Mercedes, who discovered the truth behind puck fathering the child, let everyone but Rachel in on the secret to prevent Finn from knowing. They all vow to hold it in a bit longer to prevent them from faltering and ruining their chance at Sectionals.

Will sits down with Ken and Emma in the teacher's lounge and asks them about the wedding. It turns out, the big day is on the same day as Sectionals and Emma, who wanted to go to support the kids (or so she says) is unable to switch the date. Soon, the topic switches to school yearbook photos and Sue enters the room claiming she had minor surgery done in preparation (as she does every year). This year, it's an eye lift...and she had her tear ducts removed since she wasn't using them. She also says that her Cheerios are excited, a sentiment that Will echoes about the Glee kids. Sue corrects him; the Glee Club doesn't get a picture. She spoke to Principal Figgins about removing the kids from the yearbook as their picture is usually vandalized anyways. In Glee Club, before both Rachel and Mr. Schuester arrive, Kurt talks with the others and brings proof that their omission may be a good thing in preventing more anti-Glee terror. When Will arrives, he vows to get the kids' smiling faces into a Glee Club photo.

Sue comes up to will in the teacher's lounge and lets him know that she's still expecting the New Directions Sectionals setlist on her desk. While Will assumed she wouldn't care about Glee Club anymore, he agrees to give the list to her. Recently, Sue has been a bit bothersome by getting her Cheerios to spy on the club and asking for the competitors' addresses. When Will asks Emma what he should do in case Sue has been leaking the setlist, she suggests that he go to one of the competitors, Jane Adams Academy, and ask their director if any unfair stuff has been going on. When Will arrives, it turns out that the school is for female child delinquents and looks more like a prison than a school. On the way into Ms. Hitchins' office, Will's wallet is taken by one of the students, but he gets it back. When Will asks Ms. Hitchins about the setlist, she says that she and her girls wouldn't risk their club through cheating...besides, her school would probably win; they saw their Invitationals number.

Sue greeted Will and told him that she would meet him on Saturday. She explained that she was one of the judges for the upcoming competition. Will felt very uneasy about this and argued this matter with Principal Figgins.

The episode begins with Quinn in the gymnasium watching as the Cheerios practice their newest routine. Finn walks in and sits next to her and she claims that she needs a good distraction. This is when she shows him her sonogram bill- $685. Finn says he tried to get a job at Olive Garden, but they thought he was too tall to be a busboy. Quinn leaves as she says that he was right, it's too hard to watch the Cheerios, and he needs to get a job to be a man for her and her baby. Sue Sylvester ends practice with her Cheerios denouncing them for being sloppy and mediocre. Interviewed by Jacob, the school reporter, she says that she had to let Quinn off the team because of the pregnancy but that they'll win Nationals regardless. Meanwhile, Will has to talk to Principal Figgins about a handicapable bus so that Artie could travel with the team to Regionals. Figgins says it's not in the budget. The only way to get the bus is to find a way to pay for it himself.

The opening of the episode follows the Slushee down the halls of school as it finds its target. Passing by many of the usual Glee kid suspects, it hits Finn in the face. Finn retaliates at its buyer, one of the guys on the hockey team, but it's all for naught. Now, with Quinn pregnant and the two of them singing in Glee, they're on the bottom of the school's social ladder (even below hockey guys). In the staff lunch room, Ken and Emma approach Will for a favour. Their wedding is to be held in Hawaii (Emma's idea- this way they're far from the people they know) and Ken wants the two of them to have their first dance. The only problem is their song choices. Emma wants "I Could Have Danced All Night" from "My Fair Lady" while Ken wants Sisqo's "The Thong Song". Will offers his assistance for the mash-up of the two songs (and dance lessons for Emma) as a wedding gift.

The episode begins with Sue and Will arguing (in slow motion). While Will is against this idea, Sue finds this to be a moment of triumph and regality. It all started when Principal Figgins set Sue up as co-director of New Directions after the debacle in the previous episode. While Will asks the kids for suggestions as to what type of music they partake in for their sectional snubber, Sue gets her Cheerios, Quinn, Santana, and Brittany, to help her pit the kids against one another. Quinn reports back suggesting that she target the minority kids who feel left out. Sue agrees that this is a great idea. While talking to Figgins, Sue and Will outline their plans to create individual numbers and flip a coin to perform each one. It turns out that they have ulterior motives though.

The beginning of the episode features the Glee Kids in their practice room and Will teaching them dance moves for their next number. He warns them that they need more energy as while it may be easy to win sectionals, they need to up their game for Regionals or else they'll lose. Half the kids in class at this point, however, seem to be falling asleep. Will explains to Emma later that the kids have been complacent for a week since he announced their competition at Sectionals: a school for the deaf and Jane Adams Academy, a half-way house for girls out of juvie. Sue overhears their conversation in the lunch room and can't help but insult Will's methods. She explains that once a week, she randomly kicks one of the Cheerios off the squad and encourages fear and competition. As she departs, Will agrees that she may have a point. Competition it is.

The episode opens with the club struggling to make ends meet after having lost Rachel to Sandy and Sue's production of "Cabaret". During their rehearsal, Quinn rushes out of the room to throw up and Finn covers for her. As soon as she leaves, Kurt brings up Rachel and everyone agrees that they'd need a miracle to win without her. Later that day, Will and Terri go out for a meal and Will mentions the morning sickness, stating that he's never seen Terri get sick. She claims that she throws up plenty at work when he's not around and orders another slice of Grasshopper Pie from their waiter. Will recognizes the waiter from his Spanish class five years earlier though and discovers that he's actually been going to Carmel High School as a six year senior. They keep failing him to be a consistent member of Vocal Adrenaline, a rival Glee Club.

The episode opens in Kurt's bedroom in the basement of his father's house. Setting up his iPod and a handheld camera, he, Tina, and Brittany perform Beyonce's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)" for themselves. Their rendition ends abruptly when Kurt's father comes downstairs and wonders what they're doing...and what he's wearing. He explains that all the jocks at school wear unitards now as they keep sweat away from the body; it's 'jock chic'. Brittany and Tina cover for him, saying that he's the kicker of the football team at school as he's the shortest player in the game. Kurt goes along with it, claiming the girls are there for conditioning training. Kurt's dad is satisfied with the response and tells his son to make sure he gets a ticket for his first game. Meanwhile, Terri and Will get pregnancy 'tips' from Terri's sister, Kendra, who nearly accidentally reveals the fact that Terri isn't pregnant. Terri manages to divert Will's attention by asking her for a BLT and she tells her sister the truth, she was diagnosed with a hysterical pregnancy and she's been wearing a pad to make it look real. Terri comes close to revealing the truth to Will, but Kendra stops her, saying that dishonesty fuels a marriage and that they just need to find her a new baby to cover up the fact.

Over dinner, Will decides to let his parents know that Terri is pregnant with their first grandson. Both are ecstatic about the news and congratulate the couple though Terri is disappointed that he told them- they'd planned to keep it a secret. His parents say that they'll keep their mouths shut before Will's mother goes to check out the baby's prospective nursery with Terri. Will's father meanwhile decides to speak with his son. Will says he's terrified, but his dad assures him that every man is, but you need the guts to be a good father. He once tried to raise money for law school, but never went and he feels that unless you go headfirst into what you want, you'll never get it. At school, Will teaches the kids some new moves for their next number but Rachel stops him in the number. She claims that they need to hire Stanley, the midwest's greatest choreographer (and director for Vocal Adrenaline) to make moves for the team since Will (while a great vocal coach) isn't that good at choreography. Although she feels bad about saying this, she was pressured into it by her newly-acquired teammates, the Cheerios Quinn and Santana. Quinn asks Mr. Schuester if he ever performed after high school and he can't reply to her.

Another day at school begins. Mr. Schuester arrives at school and Rachel immediately talks to him about sheet music heavily featuring her lead vocals. As she leaves, Will passes by Kurt being thrown into the dumpster by the football team once again. Emma purposely runs into Will and he thanks her for the advice saying he always knew his place was at the school. Quinn, the cheerleading captain, informs Will that Sue Sylvester wants to see him in her office. Sue welcomes Will into the room and she shows him a rule book she picked up at the library which states that Will needs twelve kids to even be considered contenders in Glee Club competitions, and since he only has five and a half, he needs to get to work. Sue admits that she's looking for an opportunity for Will to compromise himself and ruin everything. She claims that he can't steal the spotlight from her and suggests he euthanize the group. Will decides he can't back down.

William McKinley High School opens with the standards; the cheerleading squad (a national leader) practices a new routine as their coach, Sue Sylvester, harasses the performers from the sidelines, one of the more flamboyant students, Kurt, is thrown into a dumpster by the football team, and the school's Spanish teacher, Mr. Schuester, thinks about restarting the high school's glee club having been a part of the national championship team during his senior year. In the teacher's lounge, Will and the phys ed teacher, Ken Tanaka, talk about the budget cut-backs resulting in their loss of a coffee machine before Sue arrives with lattes for everyone. She explains that she felt bad about the budget cut though in reality the money saved from the loss of the coffee machine went to her cheerleading squad, the Cheerios, and their nutritionist.

His care for fashion was illustrated in this instance by asking to remove his jacket and bag before being thrown out with the garbage. He was played by Chris Colfer.

What is, on the other hand, is that Sue has plans to knock out a part of the choir room's wall to place her prospective first place trophy inside for when she wins the Cheerleading Nationals. She also figures that when the kids lose at Regionals, she'll make the choir room an annex for her trophies. While Sue tells the kids that they have odds of 40-1 against at Regionals, Will destroys one of her trophies. She doesn't mind though; after all, the room is probably going to her. That evening, Will and Terri sign off on their divorce papers making their separation final. Terri leaves with a final kiss and the affirmation that Will will always be that 16-year-old boy she fell in love with.

In the choir room, Will introduces Bryan Ryan to the kids and says that his opinion is just one of many. Bryan gets all of the kids to write down their biggest dream on a piece of paper before telling them all that it will never come true. He says that 91% of them will remain in the same county and that while most of them probably mentioned something about showbiz in their dreams, those are the most unrealistic. He points out Will as a prime example of this and causes Tina to cry during his lecture. Will asks him to leave and Bryan simply says that his job to find something to cut from the budget is that much easier. In the library, Artie tells Tina that since his dream probably won't come true in front of the camera, he should find work behind the camera instead. As Tina discovered after reading his dream (found crumpled up in the garbage can thanks to Bryan Ryan) he wanted to be a dancer instead. Since Will never assigned the kids a song theme for the week, Tina asks Artie if he'd like to figure out a dance number with her.

While there are thirteen members of Glee Club, only nine kids appear on the 'Glist' with Rachel hitting the bottom slot with -5 points. Will tells the kids that they're gaining a bad reputation and that while they're miffed about their social status since Sectionals, they shouldn't become the types of people they've disliked. Will also gives the kids their assignment for the week: to find a song with a relatively bad reputation gained over years of wear and tear, salvage the good parts of it, and make it good again. To demonstrate how it's done, Will performs Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby" with the kids taking moves from the original and working them into a good number.

When Mercedes asks Santana and Brittany, Santana reveals the Sue Sylvester Master Cleanse consisting of water, maple syrup, glucose, lemon, cayenne pepper, and a dash of ipecac, a vomiting agent. Brittany also puts sand in hers. Quinn watches on from afar as the girls convince Mercedes to change her diet. Finn, meanwhile, is dealing with his mother who is selling off some of the furniture in their house. Finn is outraged that his mother can just toss the stuff away and stops her before she can sell his dad's old recliner. When Finn asks what she's thinking, she claims that she's been seeing someone: Kurt's dad, Burt Hummel.
