Huck was staying at Olivia's place, and she'd been spending most of her time with Fitz at the White House. When she returned home, Huck begged her for help. He was off the rails, again, and she'd always brought him back in the past. He wanted to see his wife and son, but knew he could not go to them while his inner beast roamed free. Olivia, normally the one who takes care of all her people, admitted that this time she was at a loss. So, near the end of the episode, we saw Huck going to Jake for help. Who better to know how to tame your inner serial killer? Also in this premier- Fitz gave Mellie divorce papers after he attended her swearing in ceremony as the newest senator for Virginia. Abby discovered Olivia and Fitz's relationship from Liz North. Mellie went to Cyrus for help with her personal and business issues, and he declined to help her just in case Fitz ever decided to "take him back". And, Olivia's main job as a fixer was for the Queen of Caldonia. The queen had her daughter-in-law murdered because she was potentially pregnant with non-royal blood. While "Caldonia" is not a real place, Caledonia is a real place located in the UK. Dearbhla Molloy (born in 1946), who played Queen Isabel, has enjoyed a very long career in TV and movies.

Afterward, Huck realized that Command would always have a hold over him and began investigating Peter. He realized Peter had a vital secret, so he teamed up with a recently released Jake Ballard (actor Scott Foley) to convince Olivia she needed to be involved. Patrick St. Esprit has been on many TV shows, including "Sons of Anarchy", "Revolution", and "Saving Grace".

Fitz, a Republican, was married to Mellie and had two children Jerry and Karen (unseen through seasons one and two) when elected, and a third child, Teddy, conceived in the White House and 'for America'. I am in my forties while writing this quiz, so in some ways, Tony Goldwyn will always be the villainous Carl from the 1990 movie "Ghost". A bit of homage may have been paid to that fact when a season two episode was entitled "Molly, You In Danger Girl", a famous quote from "Ghost". Leo McGarry and Josh Lyman were characters from "The West Wing".

Former Vice President Sally Langston bemoaned Fitz's ability to run the country while devoting himself to his mistress, Olivia Pope. Fitz believed it was Mellie who leaked them, so he had David Rosen investigate her electronic devices. While her password had been used to access the White House servers, no evidence was found she'd downloaded anything onto her computer or other devices. In the end, it was Abby who put it all together and realized it had been Liz. She forced Liz to admit to it, and then all she asked for in return was equality in the dispensing of White House information. Also in this episode- Olivia, Quinn, Jake, and Huck tracked down a suspected murderer named Gavin Price (actor Josh Brener). He was out on bail, and accused of murdering his wealthy father. He was guilty, and they did recover him. Jake helped Olivia through her ordeal as America's Mistress, and when she returned home from her case, told the press "yes" when asked if she was the president's mistress. Quinn finally forgave Huck for his murdering of all of those grand jury members. He was relieved by her forgiveness, and they commiserated over how messed up they both had become.

So, with ringleader Cyrus urging them forward, he, Mellie, Verna Thorton, Hollis Doyle, and Olivia agreed on rigging the electronic polling boxes in Defiance, Ohio. Fitz eventually found out about this from Verna as she lay dying in the hospital. She also admitted to hiring the hit woman "Becky" to assassinate him. She'd set Hollis up to take the fall for that, but it did not pan out. To prevent Verna from talking to Assistant U.S. Attorney David Rosen, he went ahead and finished the job that cancer started. The people he'd trusted the most had turned him into a murderer. Bellamy Young played Mellie, Kerry Washington played Olivia, Gregg Henry played Hollis, Joshua Malina played David, and Debra Mooney played Verna. Debra also guest starred on "The Originals", "Arrested Development", and "The Practice".

Cyrus tried to get his job back from Fitz, which was all he wanted, and Fitz told him to leave. Then, Fitz went to Mellie and gave her a sincere (but pointless) apology story for what seemed like the 10th time. So Cyrus, beyond humiliated by Fitz, told Mellie she'd been played. She almost got to the interview, but at the last minute realized she had indeed been played. She and Cyrus left the White House together, and America never got their answers about Olivia. In between these occurrences, Mellie had a talk with Olivia about how lonely and stifling being the First Lady was, and Olivia knew that role was not for her. So, at the end, Abby did what she had to do, and allowed the press to throw Olivia's reputation under the bus. Fitz wanted to fire Abby, but Liv told him that Abby was doing what she had to. Mellie inspired the monstrous side of Cyrus back out of its cage.

This was in episode seven, "Everything's Coming Up Mellie". We were shown fifteen years in the past, when Cyrus first came aboard as Fitz's campaign manager. He'd first get Fitz into the California's governor's seat, and then into the White House. It was during these flashbacks that Jerry and Fitz talked about the plane that had been shot down, killing 329 people. It had to be hidden, as it was classified and made as though it never happened, and if any suspicion even arose about it Fitz would never be president. It was also revealed in this episode that a drunken Jerry had raped Millie, and was possibly the father of her first child. Of course, in real time we learned (as I always suspected) that Olivia's mother had not even been on that plane and was alive.

In an effort to keep James off of the polling fraud story, Cyrus arranged to adopt a baby. He'd previously admitted to James that he did not want to have a child. He said that Fitz was his baby and he did not have the energy for another one. When James went back to work as a White House reporter, it forced Cyrus to reconsider that position. They did adopt baby Ella, and Fitz and Olivia were her Godparents. At this point, Fitz felt so betrayed by Olivia that they hadn't spoken in months. But, seeing her again he couldn't control himself. He chased her down as she tried to sneak out of the Christening party early, and they 'consummated' in computer room of some sort. Afterward, Fitz told her that they were totally over. James Novak was played by actor Dan Bucatinsky. Dan has also starred in "Web Therapy", "The Comeback" and "Marry Me".

Olivia helped Marcus after the death of the mayor's wife, whom Marcus had been having an affair with, and whose husband had her killed. We also found out that Jake had once been married to a fellow spy, who was going by "Elise" these days. At the end of the episode, Mellie agreed with her female senators to impeach Fitz, after Fitz publicly came to take Olivia out on a date. Cornelius Smith Jr. played Marcus. He first appeared in the season four episode "The Lawn Chair". He also played Frankie Hubbard on "All My Children".

He, Charlie and Quinn covered up the murder. Cyrus later confessed the truth to Mellie, as the pair of them had basically caused Daniel's death. Jack Coleman played Daniel Douglas Langston.

Olivia hired Leo Bergen to represent her interests in the affair heard 'round the world. He wanted to sell it as an epic love story, but that did not appeal to her. Quinn suggested 'Olivia Pope, Woman of the People', and she liked that idea. Unfortunately, when that seemed to be working, and Mellie was forced to resign from the impeachment committee, she let the press know about the family heirloom Fitz had given to Olivia. Cyrus, wallowing in self pity, but enjoying the media circus on TV, told Mellie "she's actually managed to go from being a slut, to every woman, to your sister wife in under 24 hours". That's when she confessed to revealing the truth about the ring. He then invited her to sit and enjoy the circus with him, and showed her all the food options they could share. So, she did. At the end of the episode, Fitz was forced to hire Cyrus back as his Chief of Staff. Cyrus was the only person who knew that Fitz had seen the tape of Olivia's abduction, which prompted him to go to war with West Angola in order to get her back. Cyrus was clear on what he wanted, which was a full presidential pardon for all crimes he'd committed for Fitz and that it would be signed, sealed, and non-revocable. He also wanted Liz North fired and not allowed any new job within the administration. Fitz agreed.

This happened at the very end of "No Sun on the Horizon", and the following episode, "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang", showed some of the aftermath. It was a toss up who all would die that night. Vice President Sally Langston was about to confess her own murder on live television, so Jake had Secret Service agent (and B613 operative) Tom Larsen ready to assassinate her. At the last moment, truly in the nick of time, Fitz took Olivia's advice and distracted Sally away from her confession by throwing the debate. So, Sally lived and the Republic was saved. Then, Jake make the executive order to have Quinn break into the safe at Pope and Associates, and copy the file about Daniel's murder. He used that info to create a trap that ensnared David Rosen, James Novak, reporter Vanessa Chandler and informant Shelby Moss. He killed all but David, urging David to be smart and to "work with me on this". The next day David was seen alive and working James' murder. Brian Letscher played Tom Larsen. He's also been on "The Mentalist", "Hollywood Heights", "Castle" and "Grimm".

After all of the machinations of her father Eli (Rowan) Pope, Olivia was finally ready to get out of Washington for good. Season three began with him trying to get her onto a plane out of the country. When she tried to resist, he told her she'd be on that plane, come hell or high water. Over the season he lost Command to Jake, lost Maya Lewis to Olivia's interference, and was almost killed by Maya. He used all of these steps in his own favor, and added the murder of Jerry Grant in to seal the deal with Fitz. Fitz believed Maya (AKA Marie Wallace), killed his son, and reinstated B613 with Pope as Command. Pope captured Maya, but told Fitz she was dead, and all of it left Olivia feeling like her existence in Fitz's life had caused bad things to happen. So, she and Jake boarded a small plane and left the country, just as Papa Pope had planned.

When the kids refused to participate in the interview, Fitz ordered them to comply. That was when Karen shouted out about Mellie's affair with "Uncle Andrew". Madeline Carroll played Karen and Dylan Minnette played Jerry. Dylan previously starred in "Saving Grace" and "Lost".

He wasn't the man behind the woman behind the man, as he'd thought, he was the man behind the woman, period. Olivia "had the Oval"; she was running the country. Also in this episode, Jake confronted Olivia about getting Rowan/Eli out of prison. Fitz sent Jake after Rowan, to kill him once and for all (mixed blessing if that happened), and Olivia almost confessed she'd been the one to free him (with Mellie's help). Liz angled for a job inside the White House, lest she turn to Sally Langston's TV show and spill dirt. In the end, Fitz gave her the job as VP Susan Ross' Chief of Staff, and Liz went on Sally's show to sing Fitz's praises. Liz and David Rosen also became intimate after a hateful verbal back and forth. Fitz unknowingly gave the Presidential Medal of Honor to a rapist named Frank Holland. Frank was played by William Russ.

Abby could not believe that he was accusing her of being "one of them", but he reminded her how odd it was that a Democrat was being asked about the job of Attorney General from a Republican White House. The Death Star was a large villainous spacecraft from the "Star Wars" franchise.

Just when it looked as though Sally Langston would be the next president, poor Jerry was sacrificed. Eli Pope had the whole thing set up. Huck had warned Olivia not to trust her father, and that being her father was just a mask he wore. Eli came to Fitz and offered Maya's head on a platter, so Fitz reinstated B613 and Eli as Command. Harrison figured it out, and Eli confirmed his suspicions. As Eli told the tale, we saw Tom injecting Jerry (via use of a thin needle attached to the ring he wore), Eli showing Harrison a dead Adnan Salif, Maya being captured, Olivia and Jake leaving the country, and Maya down in a lovely B613 hole. As Harrison knew the truth, Tom held him at gunpoint and we did not learn his fate as the episode ended. Nazanin Boniadi played Adnan. She's also starred on "Homeland", "How I Met Your Mother", and "General Hospital".

Mellie made her point, lasted the entire time, and won. Also in this episode, Olivia found herself fed up with the role of First Lady (even though she was not actually a First Lady), David tried to give Liz a bracelet for Christmas (Susan Ross got it instead), Huck allowed Eli to live, and Olivia had an abortion.

She went to Mellie to ask her to find a way to deny it on the record, thus backing Fitz into a corner. Mellie told her it was a brilliant strategy, but she would be taking no part in helping Liz. So, Liz said, "Understood. I'll leave you to your funeral." Liz was referring to the funeral planning of former President Cooper (based on info about Cooper, I believed this to be an allusion to President Reagan), but her words held a deeper meaning. From the look on Mellie's face, it showed the viewers that Mellie also read more into Liz's words. This was in the episode "An Innocent Man". Portia de Rossi played Liz and Matthew Del Negro played Michael.

This was in the season four episode "The State of the Union". Mellie's grief had become public when photos of her sitting on Jerry's grave were published. Fitz tried to reason with her to attend the State of the Union address, but she said she did not care what anyone thought of her and wasn't going. After Fitz left, Cyrus stayed behind and commiserated with her about grief changing a person. She diminished his pain by saying it was not the same as losing a child. He told her he was tired of hearing that, and that losing the love of his life had changed him as well. He was broken.
