Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 1.3 "Hell Hath No Fury"- What word fills in the blank? Olivia: "In a case like this, _________ is more important than evidence. The truth doesn't matter. He looks guilty, he is guilty."

Answer: perception

In this episode, Travis Harding was accused of rape. His mother Sandra asked Olivia to back up her son's lawyer. Even hip deep in dealing with the Amanda Tanner situation, Olivia agreed to help her. Olivia did not believe Travis raped his accuser, Helen, but could tell she was missing something. So, the Gladiators went to work, and it turned out that Travis had paid off a woman named Rachel after he had raped her. She took his money, but in the end the pain became too much and she took her own life. Helen was Rachel's friend and wanted to make Travis pay for his crime. When confronted, Travis was not willing to admit to anything, so his mother turned him in.

JoBeth Williams played Sandra and Michael Cassidy played Travis.
2. In season two, who used these words to admonish Olivia? "You just expect me to bend the law for you once again out of blind faith and admiration. You pour a good bourbon, Olivia, but so does the dive bar down the street."

Answer: David Rosen

David was getting a bit worn out from dealing with Pope and Associates, and offered this not too subtle warning. He would not be going down, in a legal sense, for/with her. She had to let him know it was time to back off of Quinn, before he lived to regret it. This was season two's "The Other Woman".
3. "I am not some dirty little secret. I am your boyfriend!" Who spoke these words in season three's "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang"?

Answer: James Novak

This was in a flashback segment. After James was murdered by Jake, Cyrus' memories of their relationship were shown. James shouted this at Cyrus on Fitz's Inauguration Night. He wanted to go to the ball with Cyrus, but Cyrus had not yet come out to Fitz.
4. Olivia to Jake: "You just want us to ____ _____ _____ _____ together."

Answer: stand in the sun

The phrase was used several different times in season three, by Olivia, and often times included Jake in that conversation. He wanted her to save him from himself, and B613, and they could stand in the sun together. She was reluctant to leave the man she loved, Fitz, but in the end they did fly off together. And, it all seemed to be perfectly orchestrated by her father.
5. "I'm disappointed in you, Quinn. You've been a bad girl and I need to know exactly what you've been up to. But before we start, I need to say I'm sorry. I'm so sorry because I'm going to enjoy this. I'm going to love it and I don't want to." Who spoke these words in "YOLO"?

Answer: Huck

In this episode, Huck removed a couple of Quinn's molars to try and get the truth from her. He knew she'd been involved with Charlie, and felt she'd betrayed Olivia. But, I didn't really think she betrayed Olivia until after Huck did his damage. She'd spent many episodes begging him to help her with her new found needs, but he was trying to spare her the ugliest parts of himself.

He later told Olivia it was her fault, what had happened to Quinn. It was because she'd taken a monster (himself) in as a pet and gave it someone to love.

He explained "monsters eat people".
6. "It's me. I'm the thing that needs to be fixed. I'm the thing that needs to be handled. I'm the scandal. And the best way to deal with a scandal is to shut it down." Who came to this self-realization at the end of season three?

Answer: Olivia

After all of the machinations of her father Eli (Rowan) Pope, Olivia was finally ready to get out of Washington for good. Season three began with him trying to get her onto a plane out of the country. When she tried to resist, he told her she'd be on that plane, come hell or high water. Over the season he lost Command to Jake, lost Maya Lewis to Olivia's interference, and was almost killed by Maya.

He used all of these steps in his own favor, and added the murder of Jerry Grant in to seal the deal with Fitz. Fitz believed Maya (AKA Marie Wallace), killed his son, and reinstated B613 with Pope as Command. Pope captured Maya, but told Fitz she was dead, and all of it left Olivia feeling like her existence in Fitz's life had caused bad things to happen. So, she and Jake boarded a small plane and left the country, just as Papa Pope had planned.
7. Whose quote was this from the season four premier? Speaking to Abby Whelan: "Oh we never left there. You work for the Death Star."

Answer: David's

In the premier, "Randy, Red, Superfreak and Julia", he was asking/accusing Abby of telling Cyrus about the B613 files he had hidden. Jake had already told him to either use them to destroy the organization or give them back to him. David had them hidden in a storage facility. Abby could not believe that he was accusing her of being "one of them", but he reminded her how odd it was that a Democrat was being asked about the job of Attorney General from a Republican White House.

The Death Star was a large villainous spacecraft from the "Star Wars" franchise.
8. Who did Liz North say this to in season four? "Understood. I'll leave you to your funeral."

Answer: Mellie

Liz was paying a man named Michael to get dirt on/from Cyrus Beene. She used information from Michael to leak that there were rumors (that she started) of military bases closing. She went to Mellie to ask her to find a way to deny it on the record, thus backing Fitz into a corner. Mellie told her it was a brilliant strategy, but she would be taking no part in helping Liz. So, Liz said, "Understood. I'll leave you to your funeral." Liz was referring to the funeral planning of former President Cooper (based on info about Cooper, I believed this to be an allusion to President Reagan), but her words held a deeper meaning. From the look on Mellie's face, it showed the viewers that Mellie also read more into Liz's words.

This was in the episode "An Innocent Man". Portia de Rossi played Liz and Matthew Del Negro played Michael.
9. From the episode "No More Blood", who whispered these chilling words to Andrew Nichols after his stroke? "You brought this on yourself."

Answer: Mellie

This was near the very end of the episode, after Olivia had been saved by Stephen Finch and brought back to Washington. Mellie and Liz nodded to each other in the hallway as they passed one another, and then Mellie went to visit their lover in the hospital.

He'd threatened her several times, after already kidnapping Olivia and turning Fitz into his puppet. Liz was at a loss and asked Huck for help. He said he was not killing anymore, but sometime off screen, Mellie and Liz consorted to literally just quiet Andrew. So, Huck injected him with something that caused a stroke, leaving Andrew alive but unable to communicate.

The quote was whispered into Andrew's ear in the hospital.
10. In the season four finale, who told Abby "I can't have a soul. If I had one, I'd never accomplish a thing."

Answer: Cyrus

The episode was called "You Can't Take Command". Cyrus forced David to coerce Jake and Olivia to recount the story they'd told the head of the CIA. Olivia signed first and Jake followed. Cyrus threatened Abby's life to get David to cooperate. So, when Abby confronted Cyrus about his role as a liar and a scam artist, and asked him to have a soul for once, the quote was his response to her.

Tina Lifford played CIA Director Lowry.
