Oracle of Ages/Seasons Trivia Questions

1. Who are the main villains in the unlinked games?

From Quiz
Farore's Challenge

Answer: Veran and Onox

In the Unlinked games, Veran is the main antagonist of "Oracle of Ages". Onox is the main villain of "Oracle of Seasons".

2. This handy tool "Shoots in three directions." Can you tell what it is?

From Quiz 'Zelda: Oracle of Seasons' Equipment List

Answer: Hyper Slingshot

The Hyper Slingshot is acquired in the final dungeon of the game, the Sword and Shield Dungeon. It is an upgrade of the previous Slingshot that Link found earlier in the game. The Hyper Slingshot allows Link to send three magical seeds of the same type towards a target. Despite sending out three seeds at once, it is actually counted as only one seed used. This weapon is very effective, as it can kill or damage up to three monsters in one move. Link can also hit three targets in a dungeon, which can open a door or reveal a chest needed to move on in the game.

3. Which game features the currency Ore Chunks?

From Quiz Is it "Ages" or "Seasons"?

Answer: "Seasons"

The "Oracle of Seasons" features two currencies, one for the land of Subrosia (Ore Chunks) and one for the land of Holodrum (Rupees). Subrosia is the lava-filled world beneath Holodrum and is only featured in "Seasons" game, as "Ages" is set in Labrynna. Ore Chunks can be found all over Subrosia, by digging them up, paying for them in the Market, chopping down signs and grass etc. Some areas contain a lot of Ore Chunks, but the best way to increase the number that you have is to use a "Green Joy" ring, which allows the number of Ore Chunks to double.

4. When an evil General kidnaps Din, the Oracle of Seasons, the Temple of Seasons descends underground into what lava-filled domain?

From Quiz Random "Oracle of Seasons"

Answer: Subrosia

Link is able to enter the underground world of Subrosia, a lava-laden locale filled with hooded creatures who mine ore and bathe in lava pools, by entering through blue portals found throughout the game world, Holodrum. Some of these require help from characters to access and some can only be opened from the Subrosian side. Nevertheless, Link needs to come here between dungeons to speak to locals, persist with the trading sequence, and access the Temple of Seasons to power up his special rod. If you're lucky, you may come across a ring in the game that can transform you into a hooded Subrosian figure. You can't attack in this form, however; it's just for cosmetic purposes.

5. What land is "Oracle of Seasons" set in?

From Quiz Let's Play 31: "Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons"

Answer: Holodrum

"Oracale of Ages" and "Oracle of Seasons" are the third and fourth game in the Zelda series to be set outside of Hyrule. "Seasons" is set in Holdrum and also has a second world called Subrosia. "Ages" is set in Labrynna. Labrynna is a much larger overworld than Holodrum; however, there is a past version of Holodrum which makes the overworld areas in both games comparable in size.

6. What is the combination to get into Samasa Desert?

From Quiz "Oracle of Seasons"

Answer: 3 - 3, 2 - 1, 2 - 4, 4 - 4

You must get into Samasa Desert, but How! There seems to be a password needed to open the gated entryway. Wait, A pirate! I saw pirates in Subrosia, maybe they can help. Talk with all the pirates you see and one of them will show you the password that opens the gate to Samasa Desert. If you forget and need to go back, just do it. The pirate is always willing to help.

7. When is the earliest that you can enter the Maku Tree?

From Quiz Oracle of Ages

Answer: After entering the warp below the gate

Because of the game's programming, you can't enter the Maku Tree when you first come upon it. Once the Maku Tree unlocks the gate you are still in the scene with it, however, it is the Sapling Maku which doesn't have an entry. After you enter the Warp, you are in the present and you can now enter the Maku Tree.

8. Who is the armour encased bad guy in this game?

From Quiz The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons

9. Nayru is the Oracle of _____.

From Quiz The Oracles

Answer: Ages

11. After you beat one of the games, you obtain a password for the other game to play a linked game and find the true ending on the completion of the second game. What is the password called?

12. Which season is the first to have its powers added to the Rod of Seasons?

From Quiz Random "Oracle of Seasons"

Answer: Winter

Heading to Subrosia before the entering the second dungeon, Link comes across the Temple of Seasons and is given the Rod of Seasons which, when he attains the powers bestowed upon him, can shift seasons when used on designated tree stumps found all around the world map. The first season obtained is Winter and when Link transforms the land into a snowy wonderland he is able to shovel snow piles, walk on frozen waterways, and climb large, snowed-up areas. Other seasonal powers are obtained before the proceeding three dungeons; after Winter comes Summer, Spring, and then Fall. Each has different attributes which will help Link on his journey.

13. What other game in the "Zelda" series, outside the two "Oracle" games, mentions the land of Holdrum?

From Quiz Let's Play 31: "Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons"

Answer: The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

Several lands in the "Zelda" series appear only once and never again. Koholint Island from "Link's Awakening" disappeared when the Wind Fish awoke. Termina appears only in "Majora's Mask". While only "Seasons" features "Holdrum", in "The Minish Cap" Link can purchase a figurine of Din in a shop. The figurine comes with a note that states she is a dancer from Holdrum. Nayru, the Oracle of Ages, also appears in "The Minish Cap", and the game also references "Labrynna".

14. What is the seventh item in the Trade Sequence?

From Quiz Oracle of Ages

Answer: The Cheesy Moustache

Unlike the Trade Sequence in "Link's Awakening", you must complete all steps in the one in this game. Well, you don't have to complete it, however, if you want to upgrade your sword, you must make all the trades in "Oracles of Ages".

15. Who is the red-headed dancer that gets kidnapped at the very beginning?

From Quiz The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons

Din, one of the three goddesses gets captured by Onox at the beginning. It's your duty, as usual, to save the damsel in distress.

17. After beating the main villain on the linked version of your second game, which villains do you have to fight for the Linked Game ending?

From Quiz Farore's Challenge

Answer: Ganon and Twinrova

You see Twinrova a few times in each of the two games as a cameo appearance. Ganon is Revived by the Flames of Dark Rites.

18. Which item is "A handy tool"?

From Quiz 'Zelda: Oracle of Seasons' Equipment List

Answer: Shovel

The shovel is an indispensable tool in both 'Oracle of Ages' and 'Seasons'. You can use it to dig up hearts, fairies and rupees (unfortunately, also monsters like snakes and spiders), when you are desperate for them. You can also dig up a big blue rupee this way, which is a welcome 100 rupees, and find the Star-Shaped Ore Chunk on the Subrosian beaches. The shovel is also handy in defeating Spiked Beetles when you don't have a shield. You can find the shovel in Woods of Winter in 'Seasons'. A girl named Holly gives it to you in exchange for shovelling the snow from around her doorway.

19. In which game is the Maku Tree female?

From Quiz Is it "Ages" or "Seasons"?

Answer: "Ages"

In the "Oracle of Ages", the Maku Tree is undoubtedly female, as she sports a red flower and blushes when talking to Link. She loved Link since she was a sapling (in the past), telling him that one day, she will be his bride, reminding him of this fact when they met again in the present. In the "Oracle of Seasons", the Maku Tree residing in Horon Village is male, who likes to sleep a lot; Link constantly has to wake him up when he visits, hitting the bubble with his sword to do so. In both games, however, they are very important, telling Link where he must go in order to find the next Essence and what he must do next, remembering more and more with each Essence Link finds.

20. Where do you find the Star-Shaped Ore required to buy a Ribbon for Rosa?

From Quiz Random "Oracle of Seasons"

Answer: On a beach

Before heading to the third dungeon of the game, Link needs to head underground to get the power of Summer, but the door to this particular part of the Temple of Seasons is locked and requires a key. The only person with this key is Rosa, a Subrosian celebrity who happens to be missing her favourite ribbon having lost it at sea. To get a new Ribbon from the local market, Link needs to dig up a piece of Star-Shaped Ore on the beach in Subrosia and trade for it. When Rosa gets her Ribbon, she'll unlock any doors you want as long as you visit her on the beach and meet her for a date.

21. What "Seasons" dungeon does NOT feature a boss from the original 1987 NES title "The Legend of Zelda"?

From Quiz Let's Play 31: "Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons"

Answer: Poison Moth's Lair

The original intent of these two game were to remake the first two original "Zelda" titles. However, that changed, and Nintendo developed three different games, each with linked endings. The third title was scrapped due to problems with linking. While they did not remake the original NES titles,"Seasons" uses the bosses from the original "Zelda" title and features these enemies as dungeon bosses. All six dungeon bosses from the original "Zelda" title appear in "Seasons". Only the third and eight dungeon feature new bosses. Link must fight Mothula in the third dungeon, "Poison Moth's Lair". Mothula first appears in the SNES title "A Link to the Past". Only Medusa Head from the eight dungeon is a new boss to the series. These are the dungeons and bosses: Gnarled Root Dungeon: Aquamentus Snake's Remains: Dodongo Poison Moth's Lair: Mothula Dancing Dragon Dungeon: Gohma Unicorn's Cave: Digdogger Ancient Ruins: Manhandla Explorer's Crypt: Gleeock Sword & Shield Maze: Medusa Head

22. Defeating what or whom requires the use of the Power Bracelet?

From Quiz "Oracle of Seasons"

Answer: Frypolar

Frypolar, the mini-boss of Sword and Shield Maze is lethal if you don't know what you're doing when you go up against it. The first time I played it, I was routed...it wasn't even close. I finally learned that the blocks must be formed into ice, then thrown at Frypolar. However, they are very heavy and require that you equip the Power Bracelet to lift them.

23. Where is Tokkey located?

From Quiz Oracle of Ages

Answer: Talus Peaks

Tokkey, perhaps a child prodigy, has a melody but no tune. He's looking for someone to bring his melody to life. The tune will be useful in warping people ahead in time. Tokkey can be found in the past age of Talus Peaks. You'll need to search high and low to find him. It's worth it however, as you get the "Tune of Currents" for your inspirational help.

24. Farore is the Oracle of _____.

From Quiz The Oracles

Answer: Secrets

Farore appears in both games, and is stuck with desk work in both games.

25. What is the ONLY dungeon in the series where can you find a Zora?

From Quiz Oracle of Seasons and Ages

Answer: Hero's Cave

26. What are the three flames that are lit that allow Ganon to rise?

From Quiz Farore's Challenge

27. The Roc's Cape is the upgraded version of the Roc's Feather. What is the description for Roc's Cape?

From Quiz 'Zelda: Oracle of Seasons' Equipment List

Answer: A wind-riding cape

You find Roc's Feather in the game's third dungeon, Poison-Moth's Lair, and it gives Link the ability to jump! With it, he can hop over water and holes in the ground. Combined with Pegasus seeds, he can jump longer distances. In the game's penultimate dungeon, Explorer's Crypt, Link obtains the Roc's Cape, which allows him to do a double jump and travel even further with Pegasus seeds. There are no attribute points, such as wisdom, in this game, nor can Link become invisible.

28. In which game do you find the dungeons 'Mermaid's Cave', 'Wing Dungeon' and 'Jabu-Jabu's Belly'?

From Quiz Is it "Ages" or "Seasons"?

Answer: "Ages"

'Wing Dungeon' is the second dungeon in 'Ages'. To enter it, Link has to be in the past because the rock which had supported the dungeon in the present was broken, and the dungeon collapsed. However, it was not as easy as finding the same place in the past: Link required bombs to blow away the blockage in the entrance, which he had to get from the elusive Queen Ambi. 'Mermaid's Cave' is the sixth dungeon in 'Ages', and is the only dungeon that Link can enter in both the past and the present, which is necessary to retrieve the Essence, the Bereft Peak. 'Jabu-Jabu's Belly' is the penultimate dungeon in 'Ages' and is probably the most bizzare, as the dungeon is inside a huge fish. Before Link can enter Jabu-Jabu, he must complete tasks such as cleaning the sea (and to do so, he must break the spell on the Fairy Queen).

29. What item is required to enter the fourth dungeon of the game, the Dancing Dragon Dungeon?

From Quiz Random "Oracle of Seasons"

Answer: Zora Flippers

Heading northeast, Link will visit the Sunken Village, a flooded town containing a few houses and a number of waterfalls. To head north through this city, Link needs to find one of the elders of the region inside a waterfall and complete his challenge to get a pair of Zora Flippers. These will allow Link to swim (as opposed to simply drop like a rock in water). This is extremely important for the fourth dungeon of the game; swimming is required to both access and complete the stage. In this fourth dungeon, Link will obtain the Slingshot.

30. What is the only "Seasons" dungeon located in the subterranean world of Subrosia?

From Quiz Let's Play 31: "Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons"

Answer: Sword & Shield Maze

The Sword and Shield Maze is located in the northwest corner of Subrosia. Link can only gain entrance to this dungeon by using a portal from the Temple of Seasons. This dungeon is the only one that the Maku Tree cannot detect, possibly due to it being located in Subrosia rather than Holdrum.
