Oracle of Ages Trivia Quiz

The debate rages on as to which of the 'Oracle' games is better. One is definitely better than the other...in my opinion. "Oracle of Ages" is for Nintendo's Game Boy Color System. Enjoy!

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When is the earliest that you can enter the Maku Tree?

Answer: After entering the warp below the gate

Because of the game's programming, you can't enter the Maku Tree when you first come upon it. Once the Maku Tree unlocks the gate you are still in the scene with it, however, it is the Sapling Maku which doesn't have an entry. After you enter the Warp, you are in the present and you can now enter the Maku Tree.
2. What is the seventh item in the Trade Sequence?

Answer: The Cheesy Moustache

Unlike the Trade Sequence in "Link's Awakening", you must complete all steps in the one in this game. Well, you don't have to complete it, however, if you want to upgrade your sword, you must make all the trades in "Oracles of Ages".
3. Where is Tokkey located?

Answer: Talus Peaks

Tokkey, perhaps a child prodigy, has a melody but no tune. He's looking for someone to bring his melody to life. The tune will be useful in warping people ahead in time. Tokkey can be found in the past age of Talus Peaks. You'll need to search high and low to find him. It's worth it however, as you get the "Tune of Currents" for your inspirational help.
4. Which Magical Ring would be very helpful to you when you visit Patch in his Fix-it Shop?

Answer: Steadfast Ring

This Magical Ring is useful on a few occasions. While it may not be needed when you visit Patch the first time, it becomes very useful when you visit Patch to have the Broken Sword repaired. During that visit you'll be asked to dispense with two waves of Hardhat Beetles before you can get the upgrade. If you're like me and often find the Beetles to be a handful, the Steadfast Ring will help you to stay on the switch when the Hardhat Beetles try and knock you off.
5. Who tells Link about Tingle, in a round-about way?

Answer: Ralph

Ralph is just the most adorable character; chivalry lives with him. Ralph defends his friend Nayru with a passion that sometimes seems to get in the way of clear thinking and Link. But you've gotta love his ambition and his duty to protect the "Oracle of Ages". Besides, he does give Link some very useful information during the game. Yeah, Ralph!
6. What sword technique does Ralph teach Link?

Answer: The Great Spin Attack Upgrade

When the game is rolling its closing "Happily Ever After" scenes, Ralph and Link can be seen teaching each other sword techniques. Ralph shows Link a technique that shows up in, "Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap". He is teaching him, the Great Spin Attack Upgrade taught by Greatblade.
7. "That's enough...Like a bird I once saw, fly off somewhere." Whose quote is that?

Answer: Dekadin

Dekadin is the sad little boy who just wants to laugh. Well cheer up! Heeeeeeeeere's Link! I still don't get it. Link was supposed to be telling jokes but he seemingly went into a jester routine. While the comedians look like Abbott and Costello Link was more like Steve Martin or Robin Williams. I guess you had to be there, because it worked. Link was a "Wild and Crazy Guy".
8. What is the newest change atop the Maku Tree after completion of Crown Dungeon?

Answer: The tree on the extreme left has opened.

One of the biggest differences between the Guardian Trees in "Oracle of Seasons" and "Oracle of Ages" is that the one in Ages doesn't rescind its offer of Gasha Seeds. In this game you get three Gasha Seeds from the Maku Tree and you can wait until the last Dungeon to get them. The last one appears after you complete Jabu-Jabu's Belly. Visit the Maku Tree after each dungeon.
9. In Wing Dungeon, what is on the ledge in the room with the Thwomp that guards the Roc's Feather?

Answer: 30 Rupees

If you never look up in this room you'll miss this goodie. I accidentally found the Rupees when I just jumped atop the Thwomp to give Link a thrill ride. I love exploring these games, you can always find something new.
10. After getting the Lava Juice in the Goron Gallery Game, I got 300 Points while playing the game. What was my prize?

Answer: A Gasha Seed

Umm...Yummy! Lava Juice, hits the hot spot. This Gallery Game is so much easier than the one in the Village. It is also an excellent way to get Gasha Seeds. It certainly beats buying them from Syrup's Shop.
11. How many of the Magical Rings in "The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages" do you get from Vasu?

Answer: Four

If you are one of the players like me, you do a lot of business with Vasu. Not only that, you also collect a lot of kills and rupees. Vasu gives you your first ring of the game, even if you use the Master Password and Ring Secret. Vasu rewards you with a ring for, a certain amount of enemies killed; a certain amount of Rupees collected; a certain amount of rings appraised and the first one he gives you, a ring that allows anyone you meet to know you are a friendly sort.
12. Link's steed "Epona" is a flaxen Arabian horse.

Answer: False

Epona doesn't appear in the game play of "Oracle of Ages." In the opening, Link is seen riding a beautiful horse. That my friends is Epona. Epona is a flaxen Belgian horse. Belgians are mainly classified as draft horses. In any "Zelda" game where Epona is pulling a milk cart, this is a very accurate portrayal of the Belgian horse breed.

Author's note: I looked up the Belgian breed, and you guys have got to search for a picture of this horse. It looks just like Epona.
13. Maple has dropped a Potion, a Gasha Seed, a Magical Ring and Bombs. In what order will she go for the four items?

Answer: None of These

On the very rare occasion when Maple drops such a list of goodies, and you're in shock, and thinking it's Christmas; of course she's going for what will do you the most good in the game first. She will grab for the Gasha Seed first and the Bombs last.

However, on the same rare occasion, if you're well equipped (the Pegasus Seeds and the Boomerang or Hookshot) and hit Maple just right, all of these items can be yours. So go for it!
14. While Nayru is singing in the forest, what animal is accompanying her?

Answer: Rabbit

How dare that rabbit disrespect the "Oracle of Ages"? Wouldn't you think that the oracle works alone? Hey, perhaps what the rabbit is doing is what kids do when they don't want to hear what you're saying. They play the "la la, la la" game.
15. Syrup never complimented Maple on what?

Answer: Her first oar

As a part of the "Trading Sequence", you may recall this answer from that. When Maple get the Touching Book she gives Link the first oar she made. Her gripe was, "Syrup never complimented me on it." I'm still trying to figure out the use of an oar. I guess it's to stir her cauldron?
