Dance Dance Revolution Games Trivia Questions

1. "Love (Love) Shine" may be a classic, so jump onto the stage and hit the right arrows with me. Riyu Kosaka, who performed this tune, was also a major part of what Bemani-based band?

From Quiz
May I Have This Dance?

Answer: BeForU

BeForU was created as a result of open auditions organized by Bemani, creators of "Dance Dance Revolution", as they wanted musicians to perform songs for their rhythm and music-based games. Four girls were eventually chosen and they began their career with the song "DIVE" featured in "DDR 5th Mix". Over the years, many of the girls in the group disbanded and others were called in to take their places. Over ten girls would be considered members, past or present, by the end of their first decade. Riyu Kosaka would go on to produce songs solo including "Love (Love) Shine" which would appear in many versions of the game including "Supernova", arcade versions of "Extreme 2", and others.

2. Fatboy Slim had a DDR song that was in "Dance Dance Revolution Extreme 2" for the PS2. This song is unlocked by default, and was featured in the movie Robots. What song was it?

From Quiz "Dance Dance Revolution" Songs

Answer: Wonderful Night

This was from the album "Palookaville." This fact is also stated inside the game.

3. What is a 'freeze arrow'?

From Quiz General "Dance Dance Revolution" Facts

Answer: An arrow requiring that a player leave a foot on the designated pad

As you move through the difficulties, you'll come across various freeze arrows which require that your foot stay in that position while the other foot does the moving. Freeze arrows look like a stack of regular arrows, and you only need to remain on them until the stack disappears. If you lift your foot or you miss the beginning of the stack, it will count as N.G. (No Good). On some "Dance Dance Revolution" games, the Freeze Arrow can be turned off so that you don't need to play them.

4. What was the original title of "After The Game?"

From Quiz "Konamix"---Show Me Your Moves

Answer: After The Game of Love

"After The Game" was not always an instrumental. Its lyrics were removed because they were much too...let's say, inappropriate for children. "After the Game of Love" was about the time after the "Game of Love" if you get my drift.

5. What song did the toddler ask its mother to sing in the beginning of the song in question?

From Quiz Dance Dance Revolution

Answer: Trip Machine

Yes, this is the most feared song in the series simply because of its reverse in beats. it makes you think one thing for the longest time but then it will do it backwards really fast and you just get mixed up and miss a few times. Other than that it is a good song.

6. What is Naoki's last name?

From Quiz "Dance Dance Revolution" - All About Naoki!

Answer: Maeda

Naoki isn't just a catchy label, it's his real first name!

7. What was the other name for "Furuhata's Theme"?

From Quiz "Dance Dance Revolution" For Experts

Answer: "Ninzaburo"

"Romancu no Kami-sama" is "God Of Romance" by Judy Crystal, "Odaru Ponpokolin" is "Dancing Ponpokolin" by Captain Jack, and "Kakumei" is just "Kakumei" by dj TAKA feat. Naoki. Meanwhile, "Ninzaburo" is "Furuhata's Theme". Even the background pictures for both titles look similar!

9. A version of "Have You Never Been Mellow" was recorded for "Dance Dance Revolution" (DDR) (1998) by which "aptly" titled band?

From Quiz Dance to the Music

Answer: The Olivia Project

The original version of "Have You Never Been Mellow" was recorded by Olivia Newton-John and released as the lead single from the album of the same name in 1975. It would become Olivia's second consecutive number one single on the US Billboard Hot 100 charts. It also saw Olivia nominated for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female at the 18th Annual Grammy Awards. She would lose out to Janis Ian and her song "At Seventeen". The Olivia Project is a UK based dance group that specializes in doing cover versions of Olivia Newton-John songs, in particular from her albums "Xanadu" (1980) and "Physical" (1981). Most of the vocals on these tracks are provided by Paula Lacovich. Both of these albums are dance orientated, which gives you a good indication as to the leanings of the Olivia Project and the treatment they have provided to the above named song.

Answer: "PARANOIA Survivor"

The other songs don't have the 'slow down to 1/2 original BPM'. Interestingly, unlike the others in the series, "PARANOIA survivor" and "PARANOIA survivor MAX", as well as "PARANOIA ETERNAL" have a capital I in the word PARANOIA. The other songs have a small i. "PARANOIA survivor" on Heavy scrolls at 270 BPM but has its 'slowdowns' at 135 BPM. It is a 10-footer, as is "PARANOIA survivor MAX" and its challenge steps.
