Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which breed has wool fur and normal fur?

Answer: Lionhead

New Zealand rabbits have normal fur (called flyback). American fuzzy lops have wool fur and harlequins have flyback fur as well. But lionheads have a mane of wool fur while the rest of the fur is normal.
2. Which breed has standing fur?

Answer: Silver fox

The silver fox is the only breed with standing fur. Most breeds have normal fur types which include flyback, rollback, and standing.
Another fur type is rex fur. There are only two breeds that have rex fur (the rex rabbit and the mini rex).
The third type of fur is satin (the satin & mini satin).
Finally, wool is the last type which is found on the Angoras and three other breeds.
3. What are lop rabbits shown as?

Answer: groups

The lops are shown in either solid or broken groups.
Most rabbits are shown in varieties but in large shows, showroom classification is used.
Registration classification is the color of the rabbit. For example, a solid Holland lop is shown in the solid showroom class but its registration classification can be chestnut agouti, chocolate chinchilla, smoke pearl etc.
4. What is the most important part of a rabbit's diet?

Answer: water

Water is really important to have at all times for your rabbit. During the summer, rabbits can easily overheat and die. To prevent that you need to have at least fresh water but something frozen like a water bottle can be a life saver.
Hay can easily make a rabbit obese and is normally not recommended.
Carrots are actually not very good for your rabbit. Carrots are like candy to rabbits and some "greens" can be the same while creating stomach upsets in your rabbit.
Pellets are a type of feed that most people feed their rabbits and is HIGHLY recommended.
5. Giant chinchillas are a large breed of rabbit with a semi-arch body type. Where does the arch start for giant chinchilla rabbits?

Answer: middle of the shoulders

Most semi-arch rabbits' arches start right after their shoulders (like the Flemish giant) but the giant chinchilla is different with the arch starting in the middle. It makes the rabbit smaller.
Body types are based on the type of slope a rabbit has.
6. Do Flemish giants have a maximum weight and if so what is it?

Answer: No

Flemish giants only have a minimum weight of 14 lbs for does and 13 lbs for bucks.
7. What two groups do harlequin rabbits show in?

Answer: Japaneses and Magpie

Harlequins have either six bars or they have five bands in their coat.
Bands are complete "stripes" across the rabbit.
Bars go to the top of the rabbit but stop as a new color starts.
Japanese harlequins have a red-orange color with either black or blue bands.
Magpies are white with either black or blue bands.
8. Do palomino rabbits have any varieties, and if so what are they?

Answer: Yes golden and lynx

Palomino rabbits are often forgotten about and not many people know there are two varieties. Creme d'Argent rabbits from France are easily mixed up with them.
9. What makes an English Angora rabbit different from other Angoras?

Answer: it has a compact body type

It isn't the only Angora with long, coarse wool covering its face because the giant Angora also has that. The Angora breeds include the satin, French, giant and English Angoras, and most of the Angoras have a commercial body type, the English being the exception with a compact body.
10. Which of the five rabbit body types is missing? Full-Arch, Semi-Arch, Commercial, Compact, and ___________

Answer: Cylindrical

Himalayan rabbits are the only breed the have the long, cylindrical type of body.
Most rabbits have compact and commercial types.
Running breeds have the full-arch.
Finally, the last type is a semi-arch body. Most giant rabbits have a semi-arch.
