Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. You can give sunflower seeds to rabbits several times a day.

Answer: False

Like humans, rabbits can suffer from obesity. Treats should be given to rabbits sparingly.
2. Which of these families does the hare come from?

The other families for the order Lagomorpha are Ochotonidae and Prolagidae. However, unfortunately Prolagidae is now extinct.

Answer: English

The English is a popular pet rabbit, with a white body and coloured spots, coloured ears and coloured markings around the eyes.
4. How did the myxomatosis disease originate in Australia?

Answer: Scientists released the deadly disease into the wild to reduce the population of Australian rabbits

Myxomatosis is a disease which has no cure as yet. It was introduced to the wild by humans to rid Australia of the massive numbers of rabbits which were destroying crops. However, they didn't expect the disease to get quite so out of control - pet rabbits are even at risk.

Interestingly, it is only European rabbits that are affected - rabbits from other countries have been found to be immune.

Answer: Hearing

The rabbit's large ears move independently to pick up as much sound as is possible.

Answer: Abyssinian

An Abyssinian is a type of guinea pig, which is known for its coat texture and formation, with its fur arranged in rosettes all over its body.
