Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This famous person invented dynamite and has a prestigious award named after him. Do you know whom I am speaking of?

Answer: Alfred Nobel

Alfred Bernhard Nobel (October 21, 1833 - December 10, 1896) was a Swedish chemist, engineer, arms manufacturer and the inventor of dynamite. He owned Bofors, a major arms manufacturer. In his will, he used his fortune to begin the Nobel Prizes. The synthetic element nobelium is named after him.

Nobel got the idea for the Nobel Prize when his obituary was printed prematurely. The obituary condemned him for his invention of dynamite, and the deaths his weapons caused. Nobel set aside the bulk of his estate to establish the Nobel Prizes. There are five prizes, they are awarded for eminence in physical science, chemistry and medical science or physiology; the fourth is for literary work and the fifth is the Peace prize.
