Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Our first celebrity guest is none other than Julia Roberts! What mysterious dish did she bring to the party?

Answer: Pizza

Julia Roberts starred in "Mystic Pizza" (1988) along with Annabeth Gish, Lili Taylor. Vincent D'Onofrio also co-starred, and it happened to be the film where Matt Damon made his debut.

"Mystic Pizza" was only Julia's third film, and it was not until two years later that "Pretty Woman" vaulted her to the top of the movie star scene. Set in the town of Mystic, CT, the story revolves around sisters Kat (Gish) and Daisy (Roberts), along with friend Jojo Barbosa (Taylor) - all three of them waitresses at the local pizzeria Mystic Pizza.
2. Is that Malcolm McDowell coming this way? He's arrived just on time! What kind of fruit does it look like he's got there?

Answer: Oranges

Malcolm McDowell is known, among other things, as the young delinquent from Stanley Kubrick's dystopian film "A Clockwork Orange" (1971). Based on the 1962 novella by Anthony Burgess, the story explored the violent nature of humans, and the idea of removing one's free will as a solution to societal problems (of choosing to do evil of one's own free will).
3. That looks like Vince Gill coming with his pot luck offering - and it's rather simple fare. Doesn't he have a song by the same name? What does he have?

Answer: Bread and Water

Vince Gill's album "Guitar Slinger" was released in 2011, with "Bread and Water" as track number eight of twelve total songs. As an album, "Guitar Slinger" reached number four on the US Billboard Top Country Album chart, and number 14 on the US Billboard Top 200.

According to Gill, the story of the homeless man in the song is loosely based on his brother's struggles in life, and is a song about forgiveness.
4. Can you believe it? The whole band came - UB40! What do you suppose they're all carrying?

Answer: Red Wine

"Red Red Wine" was originally written by Neil Diamond and released in 1968. Diamond's original made it to number 62 on the Billboard Hot 100 that year.

Two versions were released by British reggae group UB40 - the first in 1983 that made it to number one in the UK that year, then to number 34 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1984. In 1988, an altered version was released, and this time it reached number one in the US.
5. Oh my goodness! Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp both seem to have brought the same dessert! What did they bring?

Answer: Chocolate

Both Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp have played the character of Willy Wonka in movie adaptations of Roald Dahl's 1964 novel "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory".

First was Gene Wilder in the 1971 musical film "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory". Twenty years later, in 1991, plans to film a remake began, but the project did not take fruition until it reached the hands of Tim Burton. "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" was finally released in 2005.

A major difference between the two films was their public reception. In 1971, Wilder's version only made $4 million in the theatres (and the film cost $2.9 million to make). Depp's 2005 version grossed $475 million worldwide.
6. Here come Seth Rogen and James Franco, just off the express. What are they each carrying to the party?

Answer: A pineapple

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg wrote the screenplay for the 2008 film "Pineapple Express", that starred Rogen and James Franco. A buddy-comedy stoner-film, the title referred to a strain of marijuana, obviously central to the film.
7. Stephen King? I LOVE his books - especially the ones that have been made into films! I wonder what he's got his children carrying in those dishes?

Answer: Corn

"Children of the Corn" was a short story by Stephen King originally published in Penthouse magazine in 1977, and later made into a film in 1984, starring Peter Horton and Linda Hamilton. A number of sequels have been made (eight more films, as of 2011).

The disturbing original had all the children of a Nebraska rural community carry out a murderous revolution, killing all of the adults.
8. Is that really Jimmy Buffett? He must feel like he's in paradise just being here! What did he bring?

Answer: A cheeseburger

Jimmy Buffett's song "Cheeseburger in Paradise" was released on his 1978 album "Son of a Son of a Sailor". Over time, the song has become Buffett's signature song - one of his most well-known.

The song has even become the inspiration for a chain of restaurants (through OSI Restaurant Partners) with a Jimmy Buffett theme. According to Wikipedia, as of 2006 there were 38 restaurant locations, primarily in the United States (one in Australia).
9. Sean Penn just arrived to the party with a pitcher of something... what, do you suppose?

Answer: Milk

Sean Penn starred as gay rights activist Harvey Milk in the film "Milk" (2008). The biographical film took place in the 1970s, beginning at his 40th birthday, through his political career, until his assassination in 1978.

Penn received the Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of Milk.
10. It looks like Mandy Moore and Robbie Williams have both brought the same thing for dessert, albeit their own versions. What did they bring?

Answer: Candy

"Candy" was Mandy Moore's debut single, recorded and released in 1999 (at the age of 15). Also part of her debut album "So Real", the song managed to peak at number 41 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

"Candy" was also the title of a single by Robbie Williams, released in 2012 from his ninth studio album "Take the Crown". Released internationally, Williams' "Candy" hit number one in Croatia and Scotland, as well as on the Europe (Euro Digital Songs) and UK (Offical Charts Company) charts. It also made the top five in Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, and the Netherlands.
