Her film career includes, among others, "Carmen Jones" (1954), Porgy and Bess (1959) and "Paris Blues" (1961); but she is best known for her starring role in "Julia" - a 1968 television series - for which she won a Golden Globe Award for "Best Actress in a Television Series".

Answer: Don Cherry

Don Cherry was born January 11 1924 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He started singing in the big bands of Jan Garber and Victor Young, and had two solo hits in 1951 ("Thinking of You" and "Belle, Belle, My Liberty Belle"). His biggest hit, "Band of Gold", was in 1955. Later in his career, Don joined up with Willie Nelson for three albums: "Augusta" (1995), "The Eyes of Texas" (2002), and "It's Magic" (2007).

Don is also an accomplished golfer, going professional in 1962. Two of his four wives prefer to remain anonymous, but before marrying his fourth wife, Francine Bond Smith, in 1993 he was married to Sharon Ritchie, Miss America 1956. Tragically, Don's son, Stephen, was killed in the 9/11 terrorist attack.
4. Actress Suzanne Pleshette was the first wife of which four-time married, sex symbol actor of the 1950s and 1960s?

Answer: Troy Donahue

Troy Donahue (actually, Merle Johnson, Jr.) was born January 27 1936 in New York City and died September 2, 2001 aged 65. He was introduced to Henry Willson (Rock Hudson's manager) by actress Fran Bennett and, under Willson's direction, changed his name. His big part came in 1959 when he starred with Sandra Dee in "A Summer Place", from which he acquired his sex symbol image as a blond, blue-eyed, tanned hunk. Abusing drugs and alcohol, Troy declared bankruptcy in 1968 and lost everything.

Troy was first married to Suzanne Pleshette (it lasted a year in 1964); his second marriage to Valerie Allen lasted from 1966-68; his third marriage to Alma Sharpe lasted from 1969-72; and his fourth marriage to Vicki Taylor lasted from 1979-81. In 1982, Troy joined Alcoholics Anonymous and found Jesus. Answer: Peter Sellers

Peter Sellers was actually born Richard Henry Sellers on 8 September 1925 in Portsmouth, England. He died 24 July 1980, aged 54. Post-WW2, Peter appeared on BBC Radio's "The Goon Show"; and then commenced a successful movie career culminating in the five "Pink Panther" movies from 1963-78. His personal life, however, was dogged by depression and alcohol and drug problems.

Bette's first husband was Harmon Nelson and their marriage lasted from 1932-38. Her second marriage to Arthur Farnsworth lasted from 1940 to his death in 1943; her third marriage to William Grant Sherry lasted from 1945 to 1950; and her fourth marriage to Gary Merrill lasted from 1950 to their divorce in 1960.

Geordie founded a recording studio, The Village Recording Studio, in Los Angeles, 1968; and he remained its proprietor until his death in 2006. Geordie was married to Leslie Caron from 1951-54 and his three other wives prefer to remain anonymous.

Director John Ford then took over Carradine's career in 1936. With Ford, Carradine made eleven movies, the most important of which was "The Grapes of Wrath" (1940). He was, however, better known for appearing in many television shows including "My Friend Flicka", "The Munsters", "Lost In Space", "Land Of The Giants" and, of course, his son David's "Kung Fu" television series.

John was first married to Ardanelle McCool Cosner and their marriage lasted from 1935-44. His second marriage to Sonia Sorel lasted from 1944-56; his third marriage to Doris Rich lasted from 1957 to her death in 1971; and his fourth marriage to Emily Cisneros lasted from 1975 to his death in 1988.

Michael Wilding was first married to Kay Young and their marriage lasted from 1937-51. His second marriage, to actress Elizabeth Taylor - the most famous one - lasted from 1952-57; his third marriage, to Susan Nell, lasted from 1958-62; and his fourth marriage, to Margaret Leighton, lasted from 1964 to her death in 1976.

Barbara was a stunning looking girl who was highly spirited. She became a successful model and attracted the attention of William Goetz of Universal Studio who signed her in 1949 for the movie "Trapped" co-starring Lloyd Bridges. The following year, she starred with James Cagney in the violent thriller "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye" (hence the title of John O'Dowd's 2007 book "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye: The Barbara Payton Story").

Barbara went on to star with Gary Cooper and Gregory Peck but her life was unravelling from excessive partying, hard drinking, drug addiction and sexual promiscuity which eventually led to her being arrested on Sunset Boulevard for prostitution.

Barbara was first married to William Hodge in 1942. The marriage was annulled the same year because both parties were still kids. Her second marriage to John Payton Jr. lasted from 1945-50; her third marriage to actor Franchot Tone lasted from 1951-52; and her fourth marriage to George A. Provas lasted from 1957- 58.
