Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What significant event of his life occurred on November 16, 1999?

Answer: He received his star on the Walk of Fame

He was given his star on November 16, 1999 at 7020 Hollywood Blvd. May 27, 1999 is the birth date of his daughter, Lily-Rose. April 9, 2002 is the birth date of his son, Jack. The exact date he met Vanessa is unknown to the general public. However, it is known that they met while he was filming "The Ninth Gate," which was released in 1999.
2. What creature from one of his films did Johnny buy in order to save it from being put to death?

Answer: His horse from "Sleepy Hollow"

Though the horse was rather unruly with Johnny during filming (always biting him or trying to throw him off his back), he decided to buy the animal to save it from the glue factory, where producers were going to send him once filming was finished. The horse's name was Goldeneye, but was called Gunpowder in the 1999 movie.
3. For what film did he compose his character's theme song?

Answer: Once Upon a Time in Mexico

Though he did sing in "Sweeney Todd" (2007) and he played the guitar in "Chocolat" (2000), the only song he composed himself was "Sands Theme" from "Once Upon A Time in Mexico" (2003). The film also starred Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Cheech Marin, and Willem Dafoe. Antonio Banderas played El Mariachi, a man whose wife and daughter were murdered and no longer wished to fight. Johnny's character (Sands, a corrupt CIA agent) came along and convinced Mariachi to help stop a coup against the Mexican President.
4. What alter-ego has he used for his films?

Answer: Oprah Noodlemantra

He used the alias 'Oprah Noodlemantra' in "Freddy's Dead: the Final Nightmare"(1991). His scene in that movie can be seen as a piece of bonus footage on the "Don Juan DeMarco" (1995) DVD. Glen Lantz was his character in the first "Nightmare on Elm Street" (1984).
5. Johnny has filmed a movie in Wisconsin.

Answer: True

He was in Wisconsin in April and May of 2008, filming "Public Enemies", in which he played infamous bank robber, John Dillinger. Some of the cities they used for the set included Oshkosh, Milwaukee, and Manitowish Waters. The film also starred Christian Bale, Stephen Dorff, Channing Tatum, and Leelee Sobieski.
6. What well-known actor has he done an impression of?

Answer: Marlon Brando

He finished his scenes for "Once Upon a Time in Mexico" (2003) very quickly. Afterward, he convinced director, Robert Rodriguez, to let him play the part of the priest whom Antonio Banderas talks to in the confessional. It was in this scene that he used his Marlon Brando impression.
He and Brando worked together on "Don Juan DeMarco" (1995).
7. Johnny has played one of his characters more than once: the great Jack Sparrow from the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series. What other character has he said that he would like to play again?

Answer: Edward Scissorhands in "Edward Scissorhands"

He has stated in interviews that he would love to find out where Edward would end up. In the film, Johnny played a young man who was created by a scientist. The scientist was unable to give Edward real hands before he died and, thus, Edward was left with sharp metal scissors for hands. Edward was discovered by the suburban townsfolk and must try to adjust to their lifestyle and, at the same time, teach them that there's more to life (and themselves) than they think.
8. Which is NOT the name of a band that Johnny has been a member of?

Answer: Lugosi

His former band, The Kids, was previously named The Flame. He was a member of that band when he was rather young. P is the name of a band that he became involved with in 1993. Lugosi was a band name that I made up in honor of his adoration for the actor, Bela Lugosi. P released a self-titled album in 1995.

Other musicians who have been involved with P include Gibby Haynes (lead singer of Butthole Surfers), Bill Carter (songwriter), Sal Jenco (actor), Flea (bassist from Red Hot Chili Peppers), and Steve Jones (guitarist from the Sex Pistols).
9. What actor introduced him to the world of acting?

Answer: Nicolas Cage

His ex-wife, Lori Anne Allison, introduced him to Nicolas Cage when Johnny was still determined to be famous with his music. Lori and Johnny traveled to Los Angeles while he was working as a ballpoint pen salesman. In L.A., they met up with Cage and he suggested that Johnny give acting a shot.

He took the advice and, not long after, he was cast as Glen Lantz in "A Nightmare on Elm Street" (1984).
10. Which of Johnny's characters was NOT based on a real-life person?

Answer: Mort Rainey

Donnie Brasco of "Donnie Brasco" (1997) was based on a real-life undercover cop. George Jung of "Blow" (2001) was based on a real-life drug dealer. James Barrie of "Finding Neverland" (2004), was the author of Peter Pan in the early 1900s. Mort Rainey of "Secret Window" (2004) was a character from "Secret Window, Secret Garden", a story written by Stephen King.
