Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where was Dane born?

Answer: Boston

He was born in Boston on March 18, 1972 to parents Donna and George and grew up in Arlington, a suburb of Boston. His father originally wanted to name him Angus. His mother Donna died of cancer in July 2006.
2. Where did Dane work before becoming a comic?

Answer: Video Horizons

A joke in a hidden track on "Harmful if Swallowed"(2003) details Dane's experience as an assistant manager at Video Horizons and how he was five hours late for his first shift as assistant manager. Dane began doing stand-up in 1990, and quit his job in 1993 to be a full-time comic. Dane wrote in the FAQ section of his website that if he wasn't in comedy, he'd probably like a career in graphic design.
3. Dane Cook went to college.

Answer: True

Dane went to a small college in Boston where he studied graphic design. This background has led to him designing a lot of his own merchandise including T-shirts and even the album cover for "Harmful If Swallowed".
4. What musical instrument does Dane play?

Answer: guitar

Dane began playing guitar when he was a young teenager, but has never really played professionally. He did release a single in December 2006 called "I'll Never Be You". Fans and critics alike were unsure whether this was a serious career move or just a big joke.
5. For which of these animated shows did Dane provide voice talents?

Answer: Crank Yankers

Dane was on four episodes of "Crank Yankers" from July 2002 to April 2003. "Crank Yankers" is a show about puppets re-enacting actual crank calls. Dane played three different characters: Sav McCauley, Gene Winterbuck, and Foreign Guy.
6. Dane was in which of the following movies?

Answer: Waiting...

Dane was in "Waiting..." in 2005 with Ryan Reynolds and Justin Long. The movie was about a day in the life of a restaurant staff, and their antics both on and off shift. Dane played Floyd, one of the chefs, who was a little less than sanitary in the kitchen. Dane also starred in 2006's "Employee of the Month" with Jessica Simpson.
7. As stated on "Harmful if Swallowed" (2003), what board game does Dane hate?

Answer: Monopoly

In the joke "Operation/Monopoly", Dane said that he hates Monopoly because it takes two and a half hours to play and Nana always cheats.
8. What did Dane want the Kool-Aid man to do?

Answer: fix the wall

On "Harmful if Swallowed" (2003) in the joke "Not So Kool-Aid", Dane said that he used to be scared of the Kool-Aid commercials when he was younger, because he didn't want the big jug of Kool-Aid to come crashing through his house. He said if it ever did happen, the Kool-Aid man would have to fix the wall he crashed through, because Dane's father would never believe a talking bowl of fruit punch had been there.
9. According to the "Retaliation" (2005) CD, every guy wants two things: to be part of a heist, and what else?

Answer: to own a monkey

In the joke "Heist/Monkey", Dane said that what would be really cool is, what if when the getaway van pulled up to pick up the guys pulling off the heist, the door opened and the monkey was driving the van.
10. What did Dane want to steal from Walgreen's?

Answer: scrunchies

Also from "Retaliation" (2005), in the joke "At the Wall", Dane shared his views on Walgreens (which he calls The Wall). He said there's just something about that place that makes you want to steal the most useless stuff. This was the joke that he "Tarantino-ed" - he gave the punch line first and then went back and told it from the beginning.
