Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This Canadian-born actor played a spaced-out soldier in "Kelly's Heroes" (1970), a decadent doctor in "M*A*S*H*" (1970), and is the father of the star of the TV series "24." Who is this cool Canadian?

Answer: Donald Sutherland

Donald Sutherland was born in Saint John, New Brunswick in 1934 and has appeared in a wide spectrum of films and TV productions. His filmography spans four and a half decades, and includes the late 60s psychological thriller "Don't Look Now," the 1980s cult classic "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," and the 2006 paranormal "histography" "An American Haunting." His son, Keifer Sutherland is best known for his starring role in the TV series "24" and also starred in a vampire flick of his own, the 1980s teen classic "Lost Boys."
2. This Canadian actor is known as much for his battle with Parkinson's Disease as for his work in an 80s TV sitcom and in a series of 80s films about the future. Can you name him?

Answer: Michael J. Fox

His birth name is Micahel Andrew Fox. Before short-statured, gigantically talented Michael J. Fox moved to the USA, he was just plain Michael Fox. But on joining the Screen Actors Guild, he discovered that another Michael Fox had already registered as a member. Rather than use his own name Michael A. Fox he changed his middle initial and adopted the professional name Michael J. Fox (to honor the actor Michael J. Pollard).
3. This blonde, blue-eyed Canadian singer was the spokeswoman for a generation of folkies and while on her way to Woodstock "came upon a child of God who was walking along the road". However, 70s uber trio Crosby, Stills, and Nash are better known for singing the song she wrote about the experience. Who is this Canadian singer/songwriter?

Answer: Joni Mitchell

In actuality, Joni Mitchell sat out Woodstock in her NYC apartment, unable to deal with the physical rigors of getting to the flowerchild-infested celebration. She did make an appearance a year later at the disastrous Isle of Wight musical festival, only to break down on stage when the audience began heckling her and other performers for allowing the festival's promoters to charge for admission.

It was a very naive time, in an era far, far away...

Jil Hennessey is a native of Edmunston, New Brunswick as well as the more famous half of a set of twins. (Her twin sister is named Jacqueline.) As Claire Kincaid on "Law & Order" (1993 - 1996), she was always wearing dark business suits and "doing things by the book". She claims that her character on "Crossing Jordan" (2001) is much closer to her both in style and personality.

Neil Young's stints with Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young in late 60s and early 70s preceded a solo career that stretched over three decades into the 21st century. His songs have addressed 9-11, homelessness, and the killing of four students at Kent University in 1970.

Many references have been made to this three-chord progression playing style, but his heartfelt songs have been covered by countless other performers.
