James Stewart was the Everyman of film. His career lasted six decades and included such classics as "Mr. Smith Goes To Washington", "The Philadelphia Story", "Harvey", "Rear Window", and "Vertigo". He passed away on July 2nd, 1997, three years after his beloved wife, Gloria, of 44 years.

John Wayne was the American tough guy. He could defeat the bad guys and get the girl. "Stagecoach", "The Quiet Man", "Rio Bravo", and his many films with John Ford are some of the many films Duke made throughout his long career. His death came on June 11th, 1979.
3. Henry Fonda, best known for "Mister Roberts" and "On Golden Pond" died in what year?

Henry Fonda was a classic actor, best friends with James Stewart for 50 years, and the patriarch in a family of actors including two of his children Jane and Peter and his granddaughter Bridget. Fonda passed away on August 12th, 1982.
4. Gary Cooper, who portrayed Lou Gehrig in "Pride in the Yankees", left the world in what year?

Coop, as he was called by his friends, was another Everyman actor like his good friend James Stewart. He won an Academy Award for "Sergeant York", and received an Honorary Oscar in 1961 months before his death of lung cancer. Coop was not there to receive the award because of illness.
