Elvis Presley, often known as "The King", was born in Tupelo, Mississippi. Elvis must have been a quick learner as he is reported to have been given a "C" in eighth-grade music. He was well known to enjoy food to excess and it appears his last meal was no exception.

John Lennon started out with his band The Quarrymen which played mostly in the Skiffle genre, which was a fusion of jazz, blues, and American folk. Of course, John was best known for his work with the Beatles, but he also had an extensive solo career after the Beatles broke up.

While Lennon was known to be rebellious, his legacy focused on kindness and peace. Richard Nixon at one point is rumored to have tried to deport John Lennon after he had so much success with the antiwar song "Give Peace a Chance".

In 1980, while returning to his apartment, John Lennon was shot in the back by Mark David Chapman. Lennon's comment about being "more popular than Jesus" was one of Chapman's main motives for killing John Lennon.
