Concetta Rosalie Ann Ingolia was born August 8th, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York. Both of her parents were musical, her mother was a singer named Eleanor McGinley and her father a musician named Peter Ingolia. Her father went by the name Teddy Stevens and it was this surname that Connie started using as a stage name.

Connie witnessed a stranger who was knifed to death in New York when she was just twelve years old, while waiting at a bus stop. This event really shook her up and she moved from New York to Missouri to live with family friends. A few years later she moved to Los Angeles with her father.

She later wrote, produced and directed a semiautobiographical movie called "Saving Grace B. Jones". The main character of that movie witnesses a murder as a young child.

Connie's first marriage was to James Stacy and lasted for three years, from 1963 to 1966. Her second marriage was to Eddie Fisher and lasted from 1967 to 1969. Fisher married Connie after his scandalous affair and subsequent marriage to Elizabeth Taylor.

Despite having been married twice at relatively early ages, she didn't marry again. She had two children with Fisher, Joely and Tricia Leigh, both of whom are actresses. She is also stepmother to the late actress Carrie Fisher.

Her first feature film was "Young and Dangerous" in 1957 which was a low budget teen movie that also featured actor Mark Damon. "Young and Dangerous" is about two teens who date, despite the objections of the girl's parents. In this movie, Connie plays a girl named Candy.
Her first big break was the 1958 musical comedy "Rock-A-Bye Baby" with Jerry Lewis in which she plays one part of a love triangle. Throughout her acting career, she had parts in a number of comedies and some dramatic films.

Surprisingly, in 1962 Connie was briefly suspended by Warner Bros because she refused to do a publicity tour. During this time she acted on stage in Kansas in "Wizard of Oz". Her positive reputation in film did earn her a Golden Apple Award nomination and win for 'most cooperative actress', the nomination coming in 1962 and the win in 1963.

In 1962 and again in 1964 she won Photoplay Awards for 'most popular female star'.

Connie has been singing since she was a teenager. She was a member of a couple of groups as a teen, the first called The Foremost and the second, The Three Debs, when she was sixteen years old. Her first album, called "Concetta", was released in 1958.

She released "Kookie, Kookie (Lend Me Your Comb)" in 1959 with Edd Byrnes and it reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100. The silly song is a back and forth conversation with Connie continually interrupting Edd (Kookie) to use his comb. When he finally asks her why she keeps going on about the comb, she admits she's looking for his attention. Edd (Kookie) replies "Baby, you're the ginchiest!"

The hard-working Connie Stevens has spent decades on television. She's acted in everything from TV movies, to appearing on television shows such as "Wendy and Me" with George Burns, "77 Sunset Strip", "The Love Boat", "Fantasy Island" and "Murder She Wrote".

She was also on episode 102 of "The Muppet Show", appearing as a guest during the first season of the popular show. In one skit she sings the song "Teenager In Love" backed by three monsters called The Mutations. In another skit, she sings "(They Long to Be) Close to You" to both Kermit and Fozzie Bear.

Connie spent more than forty years working with the USO. In 1969, she joined Bob Hope on a tour of Guam and Southeast Asia. In 1987 she toured the Persian Gulf along with Hope, Barbara Eden and Lee Greenwood. For her work with the USO, she was presented the Founder's Medal for Patriotism in 2013 by the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution's President General.

Her volunteerism and activism doesn't end there though. She founded a project to award scholarships to Native Americans and supports CancerGroup.com.

She was awarded the Lady of Humanities Award from Shriners Hospital and the Humanitarian of the Year Award in 1991.

Connie actually has more than one star on Walks of Fame.
