Walt was the youngest of four boys and had one younger sister named Ruth. He was born in Chicago, but raised on a farm in Marceline, Missouri.
2. Of the following, which was Walt Disney's heritage?

Answer: Canadian

His father, Elias, was born and raised in Canada. He moved to the United States to find work. He married Flora Call, and together they had five children, the fourth being Walt.
3. Walt's wife Lillian, had what maiden name?

Answer: Bounds

Lilly met Walt when a friend recommended her for a job at his studio in the 1920s. They were married in 1925. Lillian was actually older than Walt, born in February 1899. She was part of a big family and had many siblings.

Walt went to several studios looking for work and submitting the cartoons he had made in his hometown. They all turned him down. He finally decided to open up his own studio with financial help from his brother.

Walt did Mickey's voice, because he could not find anyone to do it just as he wanted it. So the crew told Walt that he should do it. He did Mickey's voice for many years. When the work-load got heavier for Walt, and there was more to do, Jim McDonald took over. After Jim, Wayne Allwine was Mickey's official voice.

Just a little bit of cute trivia: Wayne Allwine (Mickey's current official voice) is married to Russi Taylor, who is Minnie Mouse's voice. They met during a recording session for "Totally Minnie."

Answer: Diane and Sharon

Walt had always wanted children, so when Diane was born on December 18, 1933, Walt was very excited. A few years later, Walt and Lilly adopted another little girl, named Sharon. Sharon, Walt's youngest daughter, passed away in 1993 from cancer. Diane Disney Miller has worked in the Walt Disney Family Museum, near San Francisco.
8. When Walt was dreaming up Disneyland, he wanted it to be next to the studios in Burbank. What was he originally going to call the park before the name "Disneyland" was chosen?

Answer: Mickey Mouse Park

He originally thought it could be small, and his first idea was to build something on 8 acres next to the studios. As his ideas formed, he realized that he needed more land and space. He ended up buying property in Anaheim, California, that was an orange grove. Disneyland opened its doors for the first time on July 17, 1955.

Walt had his own train set at home that ran the entire length of his back yard. It was built to carry passengers, and Walt would invite his friends over and take them for rides on his train. He would sit on top of the engine and pretend to be a conductor.

Answer: True

Smoking was a long-time habit of Walt's and eventually caused his death. When Walt passed away, Disneyland was not closed down. The cast members were informed of Walt's passing, but they were told to go about business as usual. There is an apartment above the firestation on Main Street in Disneyland, that Walt spent most of his time in after Disneyland was opened.

There is a light in the window that remains on to remind people that Walt is always there. Walt's wife Lillian also died in December, but in 1997, almost the exact time that Walt passed 31 years before her.
