Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. A throw-back to the British public's one-time fascination with young members of the aristocracy behaving badly in public, the father of this media-styled "It Girl" was a close friend of Prince Charles. She was the runner-up on the first series of "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me out of Here!" Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. This former officer in the British Household Cavalry hit the headlines when it was revealed that he had had a long-running affair with Diana, Princess of Wales. 10. Perhaps the quintessential non-celebrity, this person first came to notice when she appeared on the UK "Celebrity Big Brother" programme in January 2006. Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This individual was first catapulted to fame following her appearance on the 2002 UK "Big Brother" show. After that appearance, she retained a surprising degree of ongoing celebrity, based largely on frequent demonstrations of a staggering level of stupidity, which presumably enables even the least educated of people to look down on her in a superior kind of way.

Answer: Jade Goody

Jade famously collapsed after 21 miles (34km) of the 2006 London Marathon, having trained on (in her own words) a diet of "curry, Chinese and drinking". She also came first in a poll by Kerrang Radio for the UK's "10 ugliest celebrities" - although doubtless it is preferable to be an ugly celebrity than an attractive nobody.

In a bizarre twist of fate, in 2009 she contrived to achieve a kind of sainthood by the somewhat drastic means of dying (very publicly) of cancer. The media, which had demonised her for her unpleasantly racist behaviour on another reality TV show, almost unanimously performed a spectacular volte-face by hailing her as a 21st-century saint.
2. This one-time nurse first hit the headlines in 2002 when her then boyfriend, UK TV presenter John Leslie, was charged with assaulting another "celebrity". She subsequently built a career based on modelling and appearances on "Reality TV" shows. In 2006 she appeared on the London stage in two one-act plays by Arthur Miller.

Answer: Abi Titmuss

In a strange twist of fate, John Leslie (although cleared of all charges against him) more or less disappeared without trace, while Ms Titmuss managed to retain a modicum of tabloid renown. Sadly, the reviews of her performance in "Two-Way Mirror" were not especially good.
3. Some people have claimed that the sole basis of this woman's claim to celebrity was being the fiancée of England footballer Wayne Rooney. But she in fact showed herself to be a highly experienced shopper, capable of carrying up to ten fashion-store carrier bags at one time. Who is she?

Answer: Colleen McLoughlin

Colleen temporarily broke off their engagement when young Wayne was revealed to have spent rather too many evenings in a certain house of ill repute in the Liverpool area, throwing her £25,000 diamond ring into a squirrel sanctuary.
4. A throw-back to the British public's one-time fascination with young members of the aristocracy behaving badly in public, the father of this media-styled "It Girl" was a close friend of Prince Charles. She was the runner-up on the first series of "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me out of Here!"

Answer: Tara Palmer-Tomkinson

She herself has achieved a fair degree of personal fame by being photographed going into (and falling out of) various fashionable London nightclubs.
5. This individual shot to tabloid fame in April 2004 when she claimed to have had a relationship with the then England football captain, David Beckham, when officially employed as his Personal Assistant.

Answer: Rebecca Loos

The affair itself was soon forgotten, but this didn't stop the delectable Ms Loos from basing her subsequent career as a "celebrity" on it. Among highlights of her career have been appearances on the UK TV shows "Celebrity Love Island" and "The Farm".
6. Under her real name of Katie Price, this glamour model stood as a Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency of Stretford and Urmston in the 2001 UK General Election. She polled 713 votes.

Answer: Jordan

At least Jordan achieved her celebrity status through her own efforts, rather than piggy-backing on someone else's fame. In fact, the singer Peter Andre successfully resurrected his own musical career after he and Jordan became an "item" following their appearance on the third series of "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me out of Here!"
7. This keen party-goer became the subject of media attention because her father was the one-time lead singer of rock group "The Boomtown Rats" (along with her sisters, Fifi Trixibelle and Little Pixie, and her half-sister, Heavenly Hiraani Tiger-Lily).

Answer: Peaches Geldof

Peaches (bless her cotton socks) seemed to think that because she had a famous father, her own immature views on a range of important subjects were worth taking seriously. For a while at least, the media were prepared to go along with this dubious supposition.
8. This former officer in the British Household Cavalry hit the headlines when it was revealed that he had had a long-running affair with Diana, Princess of Wales. Enormous quantities of vilification were heaped on his head (while the blessed Diana's halo remained characteristically untarnished).

Answer: James Hewitt

Hewitt's standing with the Diana-worshippers hit rock-bottom when he offered for sale letters that she had written to him. He nevertheless managed to remain in the public eye, largely through his appearances in a range of "Reality TV" shows.
9. This next person achieved public notoriety in 2004 when it was revealed that she had enjoyed affairs with both Sven-Goran Eriksson (at that time manager of the England national football team) and the Football Association's Chief Executive, Mark Palios.

Answer: Faria Alam

Mr Palios was forced to resign, and Sven later became a tabloid hate-figure when England (predictably) crashed out of the football World Cup in 2006. It would appear that Faria's desperate bid for celebrity failed, as she subsequently more or less disappeared from the gossip pages of the tabloid press (despite appearing on "Celebrity Big Brother" in January 2006).
10. Perhaps the quintessential non-celebrity, this person first came to notice when she appeared on the UK "Celebrity Big Brother" programme in January 2006. The joke was that she wasn't a celebrity at all, but had to pretend to the other housemates that she was, and that she belonged to a (fictional) band called Kandy Floss.

Answer: Chantelle Houghton

Various of the "genuine" celebrities claimed to have heard - and indeed enjoyed - the music of Kandy Floss, despite the band not existing. In a final ironic twist (which shows that the British public may have a sense of humour after all), Chantelle was voted the winner of the show, thereby becoming (at least for a while) more famous than some of the actual "celebrity" housemates.
