William Bradley Pitt was born on 18th December 1963 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. After gaining international fame for his appearance in "Thelma and Louise", he went on to appear in many highly acclaimed films, including "Interview with a Vampire", "Twelve Monkeys", "Fight Club" and "Troy".

He famously married Jennifer Aniston in July 2000, a marriage that ended in a high-profile divorce in 2005. He began dating film star Angelina Jolie in the same year and they eventually married in August 2014.

Robert Plant fronted Led Zeppelin from its inception until it split after John Bonham's death. He is regarded as one of the greatest rock singers of all time and his style has influenced many of his contemporaries. After the split he launched a very successful solo career releasing several albums and collaborating with many famous musicians. Plant has performed with the surviving members of the band on several occasions, with John Bonham's son Jason performing on drums.

Rowling was born Joanne Rowling and it was only when she was writing the "Harry Potter" books that it was decided that a book written by a woman would not be taken seriously by the young male readers that she was hoping to attract. She decided to use her initials, and as she did not have a middle name took the name Kathleen as a tribute to her paternal grandmother.

After the success of the "Harry Potter" series she began writing adult fiction under the name of Robert Galbraith.

Tanni Grey-Thompson was born with spina bifida and is confined to a wheelchair but that has not prevented her becoming one of the most success disabled UK athletes. During her career she won 11 gold medals in the Paralympics. She won the London Marathon six times between the years 1992 and 2002.

She retired from competition in 2007. She has received many honours in recognition of her achievements in athletics, including an MBE in 1993 and an OBE in 2000. In 2005 she was promoted to Dame Commander of the British Empire.

She released her autobiography "Seize the Day" in 2001.

Alan Sidney Patrick Rickman was born on the 24th February 1946 in the Acton area of London. After his long and successful career he appeared in many notable roles on both stage and screen. A talented artist he began work as a graphic designer before deciding to pursue a career in acting.

His unique and distinctive voice helped bring an extra dimension to the roles he undertook. Sadly he died of pancreatic cancer on the 14th January 2016.

Helen Lydia Mironoff was born in Hammersmith, London in on 26th July 1945. Her mother was English and her father was Russian. She has appeared in numerous films over the years, as well as appearing in a variety of stage productions. She is also known for her role as Jane Tennison in the television show "Prime Suspect".

In 2003 she was appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire.

John Winston Lennon was born in Liverpool on the 9th October 1940 to Julia and Alfred Lennon. He formed a band called The Qarrymen when he was 15 and this led to him meeting Paul McCartney. This meeting led to the formation of the band The Beatles in 1960.

The band eventually split up in 1970 after a stellar career. John Lennon enoyed a successful career as a solo artist until his life was cut tragically short when he was shot dead by Mark Chapman outside his New York apartment in the Dakota Hotel in December 1980.

He was 40.

Andrew Barron Murray was born in Glasgow on 15th May 1987 and grew up in the town of Dunblane. Both he and his brother Jamie started playing tennis at an early age. By 2007 he was ranked in the top 15 world class tennis players. In the 2012 Olympic Games, held in London, he competed in the Men's Singles, Men's Double (partnering his brother Jamie) and the Mixed Doubles (with Heather Watson).

In 2013 he won the Wimbledon Men's Final against Djokovic in straight sets. He married his long-term girlfriend Kim Sears on the 11th April 2015 and they announced the arrival of their daughter, Sophia Olivia, on 7th February 2016. Murray became world number one on 7th November 2016.

Sandra Annette Bullock was born in Arlington, Washington on 26th July 1964. Her father worked for the American Army and she spent her early years growing up in Germany. She made her film debut in the 1987 thriller "Hangman" and has gone on to make numerous films including "Miss Congeniality" (2000), "Speed" (1994), "While You Were Sleeping" (1995) and "Gravity" (2013).

Although she has had a very successful career she is known for her down-to-earth attitude and lack of pretentions.
