Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Just dandy! It's 2AM and you have to be at work in 6 hours. Maybe just one more flip through the channels. You find an old episode of "Taxi" on. It's the one where Reverend Jim builds Elaine a castle. What does he build it out of?

Answer: his van

It's never too late or early to get charmed by this particular show. Jim had offended Elaine and he built her a castle out of his van that he chopped to pieces as his way of apologizing. It was a rather rustic castle, but it did the trick and melted Elaine's heart.
2. Yikes. It's now 2:30 AM. The show "Family Ties" comes on next and you decide to watch. In which city is that sitcom set?

Answer: Columbus, Ohio

The Keatons lived in the Buckeye State, and they often made reference to actual streets and landmarks in Columbus.
3. As you channel surf you drop into an old-ish movie where Charlton Heston and Ava Gardner are running around a lot together. What movie have you found?

Answer: Earthquake

I actually remember seeing "Earthquake" in a theater. It was very high tech at the time as the seats shook with each tremor. It wasn't a great movie, though. Heston and Gardner weren't at the top of their game, especially being upstaged by falling buildings.
4. Four and a half hours until work. Back to some old TV shows. You find a show where a dark haired and very attractive woman is calling her boyfriend "Pizza Man". What the heck are you watching?

Answer: Hill Street Blues

It was a fond nickname that Joyce Davenport placed on Frank Furillo in "Hill Street", the characters played by Veronica Hamel and Daniel J. Travanti.
5. It's 4:30 AM now. Might as well just stay up and hope for the best. You luck into an old sitcom that Janet Jackson was in when she was a little kid. Which one?

Answer: Good Times

Janet played an adopted child in "Good Times". She was in "Fame", too, but it wasn't a sitcom, and she was a bit older.
6. Your next channel is showing an old TV show highlighting a rather stacked blonde receptionist named Jennifer. Which of these are you looking at?

Answer: WKRP In Cincinnati

Loni Anderson played the crafty Jennifer in "WKRP". It seemed, in the show, that she ran the radio station. We'll skip on discussing Loni's messy divorce from Burt Reynolds, if you don't mind...
7. We've found another old movie now. In this one Bette Davis is being carted off to an island for victims of typhoid! Yikes, such drama! Which movie?

Answer: Jezebel

Ms. Davis got an Oscar for this one. The film was initially released to get a jump on the blockbuster "Gone With The Wind" and certainly didn't fall into the "classic" category as did "GWTW". The similiarities were there, though. Southern belle, sick people, shocking public behavior, etc. It's a pretty good movie, despite being a little over the top at times.
8. Say what?! There's another comedy on and it stars a guy who later went on to get an Oscar nomination for best actor! Imagine that! What rerun are you watching now?

Answer: The Fresh Prince Of BelAir

You're sleepy and a zombie but even you should know this one! Will Smith got his nomination for "Ali". I was going to throw "The Honeymooners" in there but Art Carney was nominated and won for "Harry And Tonto". Didn't want to confuse you.
9. In between things you find on "TV Land" an old commercial with Farah Fawcett schmoozing some guy shaving. We all know who she is, but who is he?

Answer: Joe Namath

Farah seemed to just love to hang out with Joe as he shaved.
10. It's 6:15AM now. Might as well forget about even a nap. You find a channel that is showing long lost episodes of "Star Search". You recognize one of the contestants who is on a show that you may occasionally watch since it has been placed in syndication. What show?

Answer: Everybody Loves Raymond

Brad Garrett did stand-up on that series. I can't remember if he won, but who cares? He got his Emmy in 2002. A better prize than a handshake from Ed McMahon, I guess. OK, go fire up the coffee machine and attack the No-Doz. Try to have a good day at work.
