Answer: Edward Lamont IV

Edward Lamont IV is the heir to the Lamont chemical fortune. While he was walking home from school one day, Edward was snatched off the street by a large man in a raincoat. Within six hours the demand for ten millions dollars was made for the safe return of Edward Lamont IV.

The large man in the raincoat was Killer Croc. Everyone but Batman was willing to pay the ransom. The Dark Knight tracked down Edward while Croc was going after the ransom money but while they were making their escape, Killer Croc returned and attacked them. Croc has mutated since his last encounter with Batman but the Dark Knight defeats him.

However, during the fight the ransom money is stolen, confirming Batman's suspicions of another player in Croc's plans.
2. Batman's Batline is cut while he is chasing Catwoman and he is injured after he falls into Crime Alley. Which of these characters rescue him from the thugs in the alley?

Answer: Huntress

Batman is chasing Catwoman after he realises that she stole the ransom money for Edward Lamont IV. He is just about to catch her when something cuts through his Batline and he falls, fracturing his skull and breaking his shoulder on his way down. He lands, paralysed in Crime Alley and barely manages to push the alarm button on his utility belt to alert, Barbra Gordon, the Oracle, of his situation. Oracle calls for backup and Huntress responds.

She arrives in time to save Batman and single-handedly defeats all of the thugs. when one of them exclaims, "Batgirl!" She replies, "Oh. You're trying to tick me off... Tell everyone Huntress did this to you!"
3. Batman is severly injured and has to undergo surgery. What does Oracle instruct Dick Grayson to do as a cover story for Bruce Wayne's injuries?

Answer: She instructs him to wreck Bruce's Porsche

After Batman returns, unconscious and in a critical condition to the Batcave, Alfred says to Oracle: "We'll have to make the necessary arrangements to explain Master Bruce's condition..." Oracle replies: "I can have Dick wreck the Porsche. The rest is up to you." Following this scene in the Batcave a newspaper clipping is shown of the 'wrecked Porsche' and the title of the article reads: "PLAYBOY WAYNE IN NEAR FATAL WRECK".
4. Bruce's childhood friend, Thomas Elliot, is the renowned surgeon who heals Bruce. Immediately after coming out of the theatre following the surgery, what does Dr Elliot say to the reporters?

Answer: "Well, I don't know if Mr Wayne will ever play the violin again--"

Then he adds, "--but u think it is safe to say that..." and a newspaper article in the background reads: "WAYNE OUT OF DANGER". The article is written by Lois Lane and the photo of Bruce Wayne is taken by Jimmy Olsen. Thomas Elliot, or Tommy Elliot as he was called as a child, was called to Gotham from Philadelphia to conduct the surgery on Bruce. Bruce Wayne requested him using morse code to Alfred while dying in the Batcave. Dr Elliot comes immediately and when he arrives in the theatre he says to Bruce: "Bruce. If you wanted to get together after all this time -- you didn't have to kill yourself to do it."
5. Batman allows Killer Croc to escape from Arkham and tracks him to Posion Ivy's greenhouse. Who intervenes before Batman gets any information out of Croc?

Answer: The FBI

During his fight with Killer Croc at the start of the comic, Batman says in his thought bubble: "Kidnapping was never Croc's M.O. Too many variables. Too many things could go wrong. Bottom line-- He's not that smart. Some one else had a hand in this". To find who Killer Croc was working for or with, Batman allows Croc to escape from Arkham Asylum and then tracks him to Poison Ivy's greenhouse.

However Amanda Waller, the head of Meta-Human Affairs in the Government, gives Batman a time limit. He is given until midnight to get the information that he needs before Waller sends the FBI to recapture Croc for the government.

Then while Batman is chasing Killer Croc one of the tires on his Batmobile has a blowout slowing him down but the Dark Knight manages to get to the greenhouse before Killer Croc can harm Catwoman. Batman stops Croc and just manages to persuade Croc him to trust him with the information when the FBI arrive. Killer Croc then attacks Batman, believing himself to have been betrayed. the FBI, from their helicopters say: "Killer Croc! This is the FBI! Stay where you are and put your hands in the air!". Croc then turns on them and throws himself at the choppers but they easily trap him and take him away.
6. After Killer Croc is captured, Batman and Catwoman meet on the Gotham rooftops. Which of these sentences does Catwoman NOT say?

Answer: "This is the first time I have ever had to say thank you."

Batman is standing on top of a gargoyle overlooking Gotham six nights after the Killer Croc incident. Catwoman flips over and stands infront of him and tells him that Ivy has relocated to Metropolis. Then she says: "Listen... I... You saved my life. over the years you have done that more than once. I don't think I've ever properly thanked you." To which he bluntly replys: "Don't." Then Catwoman says: "We've done this dance for a long time. Too long. Aren't you at all curious?" Then they kiss and when they separate she says: "Easy, boy. You play your cards right and...

There will be plenty more where that came from. So... I'll see you in Metropolis."
7. Bruce Wayne and Tommy Elliot visited Metropolis when they were younger. While they were there, which hero and villain did they see in action?

Answer: Green Lantern and Icicle

After meeting Tommy Elliot unexpectedly in Metropolis, Bruce has a flashback in which he recalls visiting Gotham with Tommy, Bruce's father Thomas Wayne and Alfred. During the flashback, Tommy and Bruce were told to wait by the car while Mr Wayne and Alfred went to register at the Plaza Hotel.

While they were waiting, the two then saw Green Lantern fly overhead and they raced after him to watch as he fought with Icicle. When they return to the Hotel they find Alfred and Thomas Wayne waiting for them and they are ordered to spend the remainder of the weekend in their hotel room.
8. Which of these people does Bruce Wayne NOT meet on his return to Metropolis?

Answer: Lex Luthor

The first of these people Bruce met was Tommy Elliot. They met unexpectedly at the Metropolis Airport and Bruce offers Tommy a ride. They talked about the Green Lantern incident and about Bruce's health to which Tommy says: "My only interest is your health. I'm not sure you're giving yourself adequate time to heal. You're not Superman, you know." The second person he meets is Perry White in the Daily Planet. Bruce visits Lois Lane and uses her computer to contact Oracle.

He then meets Clark Kent and Perry White who offers him a drink.

The last person Bruce meets is Talia. She is the head of LEXCORP and Bruce met her in the persona of Batman to find out where Ivy is hiding. Lex Luthor is the President of the United States and in not present throughout the entire book.
9. What was the plant that Batman found in Ivy's Gotham penthouse with which he used to track her?

Answer: Aztec Gilia

Once in Metropolis, Bruce meets Lois Lane at the Daily Planet and asks to use her computer. He gets in contact with Oracle, Barbara Gordon, who tells him that the plant, Aztec Gilia, that was found in Ivy's penthouse requires a substance called 'Ethylene'. Recently LEXCORP re-engineered it to withstand changes in temperature which is perfect for someone like Poison Ivy who just relocated to Metropolis from Gotham City. Oracle tells Batman that hacking into the LEXCORP files to find Ivy isn't going to be easy.

He tells her not to hack into the files and says: "I have another door." He goes personally to LEXCORP Towers where Talia Head, daughter of Ra's Al Ghul, is the boss. He asks her if someone in Metropolis aquired large doses of Ethylene and she gives him the information he requires which leads him and Catwoman to Ivy.
10. After Batman arrives to save Catwoman from Poison Ivy, Ivy says "So, the kitty brought a champion. Good... I have too." Who is Ivy's champion?

Answer: Superman

Ivy was supplied with synthetic green kryptonite lipstick which she uses to take control of Superman. Superman tells Batman, "If you come near her-- you'll have to come through me first." Batman knows what the Man of Steel's first move will be so he and Catwoman manage to escape when Poison Ivy tells Superman to kill them.

This leads immediately to the next question. Superman doesn't realise that Batman isn't going to stand and fight and this gives Batman and Catwoman long enough to escape to the tunnels under the city.
11. While they are in the tunnels under Metropolis Batman tells Superman that they are nearby a gas main. He lied. Where were they actually beside?

Answer: A Metropolis Power Conductor

The tunnels are a lead-lined sewer system built by LEXCORP. Batman tells Catwoman that Parasite once used the same tunnels to escape the Man of Steel. Oracle directs Batman to the section of the tunnels beside an electricity conductor and because the tunnels are lined with lead, Superman can't use his x-ray vision to see where they are. "You don't come to Metropolis and not be prepared for him." Batman says of Superman. Superman crashes into the tunnels and Batman immediately tells him that he opened a gas main. "If you make so much as a spark with your heat vision--" The Dark Knight says, "--You'll blow up the entire block." Then he uses his kryptonite ring and fights the Man of Steel and reminds him that they are also nearby the Daily Planet. Batman then uses Hypersonics to slow Superman from crushing him. "I can't hear them--" Batman comments, "--but he, and any other dog in the surrounding area, is going to have a splitting headache in the morning." Next Batman blinds him and when Superman finally launches himself at Batman, the Dark Knight dodges him and Superman plows into the Power Conductor, robbing the whole of Metropolis of its electricity. "He can't be stopped--" Says Batman. "--but he can be stunned. Even if it takes a whole city to do it."
12. Which of these characters does not apprehend Ivy?

Answer: Nightwing

Once Batman defeats Superman, he and Ivy go to capture Poison Ivy who is staying at the Plaza Hotel, the same Hotel which Bruce Wayne and Tommy Elliot stayed at the time they saw the battle between Icicle and Green Lantern when they were boys. By this stage, Superman is back to his normal self and after returning to the Fortress of Solitude, where he changes into a fresh costume, he returns to hunt down Ivy with Krypto the Super-dog. Batman reaches Ivy first and says: "Put the money down. You're coming back to Gotham." To which she replies, "Like Hell I--" She cuts short when Superman appears.

He informs her that the arrangements have been made for the Metropolis S.C.U. to deliver her to the G.C.P.D. Then Ivy tries to make a dash for it but she is blocked off at the door by Krypto. Catwoman then catches her with a punch and knocks her out.

Then Superman asks: "Was that really necessary?" Both Batman and Catwoman reply simultaneously, "Yes".
13. What does Catwoman do to break Ivy's trance over Superman?

Answer: She drops Lois Lane from a building

While Superman and Batman fought beneath the city in the lead-lined tunnels, Catwoman did as Batman instructed and goes after one of Superman's closest friends. Batman tells her that she could choose between Perry White, Lois Lane or Jimmy Olsen and Catwoman chooses Lois. Superman follows the Dark Knight out of the tunnels with the intention of destroying him but Batman tells him to 'look up' and Superman sees Catwoman drop a bound Lois Lane from the side of a building. Seeing Lois fall breaks the spell Ivy had over Superman and he reacts and rescues her. "If we had to, Catwoman could catch her--" Batman states. "--But we don't have to." Later Batman says, "I knew Superman would be fighting Poison Ivy while he was fighting me... If there was an innocent person in real jeopardy, he couldn't let Ivy stop him from saving them."
14. What is the last phrase in the comic spoken by both Batman and Hush? (Batman speaks the sentence to Superman and Hush, who is observing them from a distance and repeats it).

Answer: "What are friends for?"

All of the options stated were said in the conversation between Batman and Superman but 'What are friends for?' is the last line in the comic and the only one repeated by Hush. Superman also says, "Now, more than ever, I know I gave the ring to the right person." Referring to the kryptonite ring that Batman fought Superman with during the comic.
15. Who says this sentence to Bruce Wayne: "You have got to think like your opponent"?

Answer: Tommy Elliot

Batman refers to it many times in the story. When he is in a critical condition and Tommy Elliot is called to conduct the surgery, Bruce has a flashback in which he recalls playing a war game with Tommy. Tommy says, "You always do this Bruce. You attack without knowing your opponent's weaknesses.

As long as you can't think like me, you'll never beat me." Then, in another flashback where he sees Icicle battling the Green Lantern, Tommy says: "Icicle will never win. It is like I am always telling you, Bruce. You gotta be able to think like your opponent." Then when Batman realises that Superman is under Ivy's spell he knows what Superman's first move is going to be: Heat vision and therefore he manages to dodge it.

He then escapes because Superman expects him to stand and fight. During the fight with Superman, Batman remembers being in Metropolis with Tommy and he recalls Tommy's sentence: "If you want to beat your opponent, Bruce, you have to think like your opponent."
