Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Batman's first girlfriend was Julie Madison, an actress. Her most memorable story introduced one of Batman's earliest villians. Who was it?

Answer: Clayface

Julie was introduced in "Detective" 31, but only appeared a few times after that. She was acting in the remake of a movie, "Death Castle" , that Clayface was out to disrupt. He was killing off the characters in the order they died in the film, and Julie was next in line when Batman stepped in.
2. Sparks flew between Batman and Catwoman the very first time they met, in "Batman" #1. In fact, at the end of the story Batman lets Catwoman

Answer: escape

Called simply "The Cat" in her first appearance, she spent most of the story disguised as an elderly woman. She did not appear in costume until her second appearance, "Batman" #2.
3. Throughout the 1940's socialite Linda Page dated Bruce Wayne. When the US entered World War 2, what did Linda do as her part of the war effort?

Answer: Become a nurse

Was the ever something named the Women's Air Force? And wussy Linda Page was no superhero. Nope, she became a nurse.
4. 1948 saw the introduction of newspaper photographer Vicki Vale, obsessed with proving Bruce Wayne was Batman, and a blatant rip-off of Lois Lane. But Lois was not her only inspriation. Artist Bob Kane patterned Vicki on drawings he had done on a California beach of young Marilyn Monroe.

Answer: True

The original sketches are duplicated in Kane's autobiography "Batman and Me". At the time Kane met her, she was still a struggling actress.
5. Heiress and ex-carnival peformer Kathy Kane romanced Bruce Wayne as herself, and Batman as his crimefighting partner Batwoman. Where did Batwoman keep all her special Bat-crime fighting gimmicks?

Answer: Her purse

Yes, in her purse. She and Batman would fight crime along with Robin, Bat-Girl (Kathy's neice Betty), Ace the Bathound and 5th dimensional sprite Bat-Mite.
6. The 1970's saw Batman fall for Talia Al Ghul, the daughter of a genocidal madman. Aside from her parentage, what other drawback did Talia have as a girlfriend for Batman?

Answer: She was a professional assassin

Talia was determined to convert Batman to her way of thinking. Both she and her father, Ra's Al Ghul, hoped Batman would marry Talia and succeed Ra's as leader of the League of Assassins.
7. Silver St Cloud was a convention organizer who fell in love with Bruce Wayne, but their relationship collapsed when she discovered he was really the Batman. How did she learn his identity?

Answer: The first time she saw him as Batman, she just knew.

It's a great scene. He's chasing Deadshot, and they burst into the convention hall. She looks up at Batman, he looks down and makes eye contact, and she knows. "It's Bruce."
8. Batman, or Bruce, also had brief flings with Alfred's neice AND Alfred's daughter.

Answer: True

No Pennyworth woman was safe around him, apparently. Alfred's neice Daphne first appeared in "Batman" 216. His daughter Julia debuted in "Detective" 501.
9. Recently, Bruce Wayne was framed for killing Vesper Fairchild, his most recent girlfriend. Obviously, he didn't do it. Who did?

Answer: Cain

The recent storyline "Bruce Wayne: Murderer" covered this. Cain is also the father of the new Batgirl.
10. Which of these women had a son by Batman?

Answer: Talia Al Ghul

Talia told Batman she had had a miscarriage, but actually gave the child away to be raised secretly. The 1940's (Earth-2) versions of Batman and Catwoman had a daughter, who became the Huntress.
