Bob was born in Princeton, Minnesota on August 14, 1949. He attended North Dakota State University at Bison where he won the Division II NCAA wrestling championship in the 190 pound weight class.
2. In 1975, Bob and a partner defeated Professor Tanaka and Mister Fuji for the NWA Georgia Tag Team Championship. Who was his partner?

Answer: Jerry Brisco

Bob and his partner Jerry Brisco won the NWA Georgia Tag Team Championship on October 16, 1975 and lost it on December 3rd of the same year to Les Thornton and Tony Charles. He and Steve Keirn held the NWA Florida Tag Team Championship in 1979 and he and Chief Peter Maivia were partners in the WWWF (now WWE) but never captured the title.
3. In 2000, Bob made an unsuccessful run for the U.S. Congress as a Republican. What state did he represent?

Answer: Connecticut

Although he was born in Minnesota, Bob was a Connecticut resident in 2000 when he ran for Congress. Earlier that year, Bob participated in the WWE's annual "Royal Rumble" and was the 9th man eliminated. Chris Jericho did the honors. Bob was 50 years old at the time.

Bob Backlund was hand-picked by Vince McMahon, Sr. to be the next "good guy" to wear the WWF Championship belt. After several close matches in 1977, Bob finally captured the title from Superstar Billy Graham on February 20, 1978 in Madison Square Garden.

He would lose it on December 26, 1983 to The Iron Sheik. In 1994 he again captured the title in a submission match against Bret Hart.

Others inducted in 2013 were Bruno Sammartino, Mick Foley, Trish Stratus and Booker T. Maria Menounos did the induction honors for Bob.

A guest appearance on the MTV show "Singled Out" caught the attention of Maria Menounos who aided in his getting the movie role. The film was shown at the Tribeca Film Festival. Bob made an appearance at the screening and in typical fashion signed autographs and interacted with fans.

Both Race and Flair were National Wrestling Alliance World Champions when they faced Bob in those unification matches. Bockwinkel was the American Wrestling Association Champion. No titles ever changed hands in these matches because they never ended in a pinfall or submission.
10. Did Bob Backlund ever face Hulk Hogan when Hogan was World Wrestling Federation heavyweight champion?

Answer: No

Bob dropped the title to The Iron Sheik in December of 1983. In order to get the title to Hogan, Bob had to feign a back injury which would prevent a rematch. Hogan took Backlund's place and captured the title as planned. Shortly after, Backlund left the Federation and would not return for eight years.
