1. Before discovering his power, where did Cannonball work?

Answer: He worked in a coal mine.

Cannonball's father worked in a coal mine and when he died, Cannonball became the man of the house and followed in his father's footsteps. His mutant power manifested when he tried to escape from a caved-in mine. These events happened in "Marvel Graphic Novel #4: The New Mutants", in 1982.
2. After discovering his powers, Cannonball was recruited by which dastardly villain?

Answer: Donald Pierce

Donald Pierce is a cyborg and a longtime member of the Hellfire Club. He coerced the naive Cannonball into fighting against the four young mutants who would become the New Mutants. These events happened in 1982's "Marvel Graphic Novel #4: The New Mutants".
3. Who was the international rock star that fell in love with Cannonball?

Answer: Lila Cheney

Lila Cheney was also a mutant who had the power to teleport herself and others over large distances. Although the relationship went slowly, Lila was so smitten with Cannonball that she took him to her home, a sphere deep in space. These events happened in "New Mutants Annual" #1, debuting in 1984.
4. After being killed by the Beyonder, Cannonball was revived but existed in a lethargic state. Who was brought in to bring him out of his stupor?

Answer: Emma Frost

Emma Frost, a sometimes-ally of the various mutant teams, was recruited by Magneto to bring the New Mutants out of their trance-like state. She brought them to her school for mutants and made them part of her team, the Hellions. These events happened in issues 38-40 of "The New Mutants", debuting in 1985.
5. When he was killed by Sauron, Cannonball learned that he was immortal.

Answer: True

Sauron battled and killed our explosive hero in issues 7-9 of "X-Force" in 1992. Cannonball's forcefield was interrupted by the evil Phantazia, leaving the disoriented hero open to an attack from the vicious Sauron, who ripped Cannonball's chest open with his talons.
6. Which member of the Externals did NOT visit Cannonball?

Answer: Peter

The Externals are a group of nearly-immortal mutants who can die only through extreme circumstances. When he was killed by Sauron and subsequently revived, Cannonball learned that he was also an External. In fact, as one of the Externals was dying from the Legacy virus, Cannonball was seen as their last hope. The visit took place in the thirty-seventh issue of "X-Force" in 1992.
7. Cannonball was promoted to the X-Men after battling which villain?

Answer: Reignfire

Reignfire turned out to be a future version of the superhero Sunspot, and was defeated thanks to X-Force's efforts. After the battle, Cable and Professor Xavier promoted Cannonball to the X-Men's ranks. Cannonball earned the honor in "X-Force" #44 in 1995.
8. Which Imperial Guard member did Cannonball defeat?

Answer: Gladiator

Guardian arrived on Earth to forcibly enlist the X-Men in an intergalactic crusade, but the band of mutants would hear none of it. Gladiator went toe-to-toe with Cannonball, who used his powers to withstand Gladiator's strongest blow. His confidence shaken and his powers weakened, Gladiator soon fell to Cannonball. The fight happened in "Uncanny X-Men" #341 in 1997.
9. Why did Cannonball leave the X-Men?

Answer: He had to care for his sick mother

Luckily, the disease was treatable, although it required moving the large family to Lexington, Kentucky so Mrs. Guthrie could get better. Cannonball visited his mother in "X-Men" #79 in the 1990s.
10. After X-Force disbanded, which team did Cannonball join?

Answer: X-Corporation

X-Corporation was an international organization charged with finding and rescuing mutants led and funded by Charles Xavier. The idea was noble, but the team was short-lived, as it was closed in light of M-Day. Cannonball joined in "New X-Men" #128 in 2002.
