Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This "puddy tat" was one of the stars of a classic cartoon who was always outwitted by that little yellow bird. Who was that cartoon cat?

Answer: Sylvester

Poor Sylvester, always being outsmarted by Tweety! Tweety and Sylvester have been a fun and comical pair for children to watch.
2. Jonesy was a fearless feline that survived an attack by an evil being in which science fiction movie?

Answer: Alien

Jonesy, along with Sigourney Weaver's character Ripley, got out alive when the Alien was aboard the spaceship. It's amazing that Jonesy lived while so many others were killed! Jonesy also appeared briefly during the beginning of the sequel "Aliens".
3. In the daytime soap opera "All My Children", Hayley once had a cat whose name meant something special. What was her cat's name?

Answer: Comet

When Hayley got her cat, it was decided to name him Comet, so that he could be known as "Hayley's Comet". That was a really cute idea!
4. In Stephen King's book "Pet Sematary", one of the key characters was a cat named Winston Churchill, or Church for short. Church died and was brought back to life after being buried in the haunted burial ground. How did Church die the FIRST time?

Answer: Hit by a truck while crossing the road

When Church came back from the dead after being hit by a truck, he was more of a zombie than a cat, and he always smelled like graveyard dirt. The descriptions of Church after his reincarnation were certainly not flattering! Church was killed again at the end of the book when his owner injected him with morphine.
5. On the TV show "Friends", Phoebe repeatedly sang a song about a cat. What was the name of the song?

Answer: Smelly Cat

Phoebe composed quite a few unusual songs. One of them was about, of all things, a smelly cat!
6. In 1984, an anthology of short stories with cats as the main theme was published. This collection featured authors such as Ursula K. LeGuin and Stephen King, along with many others. Each short story was about cats. What was the title of the book?

Answer: Magicats!

"Magicats" contains many delightful short stories about cats. While some are very funny, others are a bit darker. "Tom Cat" tells the story of a man who poses as his aunt's cat in order to gain her inheritance. "Some Are Born Cats" explores the possibility that cats could be aliens from another planet. "The Cat From Hell" is about a deadly cat who murders his victims in a very gruesome way. "Magicats" was edited by Jack Dann and Gardner Dozois.
7. This Alien Life Form (ALF) was fond of a cat named Lucky. What was the surname of the family that owned Lucky and gave a home to ALF?

Answer: Tanner

While at first ALF wanted to eat Lucky, as cats are considered a delicacy on ALF's home planet Melmack, he eventually grew to love Lucky instead. I'd like to give special thanks to FunTrivia editor, JuniorTheJaws for her help in providing this question and all the necessary information!
8. In the Disney movie "Cinderella", Cinderella and her animal friends were tormented by one mean and nasty cat. What was his name?

Answer: Lucifer

Lucifer was one mean kitty! It's interesting how in entertainment, when it comes to cats versus dogs, cats are often, but not always, portrayed as the villians. Of course, those of us who are cat lovers know better! In fact, cats and dogs should be loved equally as they are both wonderful animals.
9. An episode of the TV show "Gilmore Girls" dealt with the death of Lorelai and Rory's neighbors' cat. What was done to honor the passing of their cat, in which Lorelai and Rory were participants?

Answer: A large memorial service was held

The meorial service was huge, with eulogies, funeral songs, and refreshments at the end. Nearly everyone in Stars Hollow (the town where "Gilmore Girls" takes place) attended. As much as I love cats, this did seem a bit over the top, but then it is a TV show and not reality!
10. This orange tabby cat graced our television sets during commercial breaks as he advertised a popular brand of cat food. What was the name of the cat and what brand of cat food did he represent?

Answer: Morris, 9 Lives

Morris was the adorable orange cat in the 9 Lives commercials. Cats are spectacular animals, and let's hope we can enjoy more of them in entertainment!
