Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. On what date did Millennium Force officially open?

Answer: May 13th, 2000

Millennium Force is probably the most hyped roller coaster in the history of roller coasters. It has this distinction for good reason. How often can you go 93 mph down a 310 foot hill at an 80 degree angle? Answer: Only when you are at Cedar Point. Millennium Force is huge and an awesome coaster.
2. How tall is the Blue Streak?

Answer: 78 feet

Blue Streak is the oldest operating coaster at Cedar Point. Built in 1964 the Blue Streak still gives you a thrill today.
3. How fast does Raptor go?

Answer: 57 mph

Not only is Raptor fast, it also has six inversions. When you get off Raptor you are sure to be a little dizzy.
4. What kind of coaster is Disaster Transport?

Answer: Bobsled

Disaster Transport is an enclosed bobsled ride. It is 63 feet tall.
5. Who designed Magnum XL-200?

Answer: Arrow

Call it Cedar Point's crown jewel. Call it the world's greatest coaster. Call it anything, but tame. This is the Magnum XL-200, the so-called "first shot" of the coaster wars when it opened as the first coaster over 200 feet in 1989. Magnum, at one time, had been ranked the world's best steel roller coaster for several years in a row, and still occupies a spot in the top five.

The experience is unexplainable, traveling up a 205 foot hill with the park on your left and the expanses of Lake Erie on your right.
6. How many degrees is the vertical spiral on Top Thrill Dragster?

Answer: 270

As of today Top Thrill Dragster is the tallest and fastest coaster in the world. The Dragster reaches speeds of 120 mph in less than 4 seconds. The Dragster is 420 feet tall.
7. What is the angle of decent (in degrees) on Millennium Force's first drop?

Answer: 80

Millennium Force is 310 feet tall and it reaches speeds of 93+mph.
8. What is Gemini's capacity (riders per hour)?

Answer: 3300

The Gemini is the only roller coaster at Cedar Point that has two trains running simultaneously on parallel tracks. Built by Arrow Dynamics in 1978, the Gemini is one of the top ride givers in the park. When Gemini opened it was the tallest and fastest coaster in the world. Today Gemini isn't anything compared to Millennium Force, but it did pave the way for it.
9. How many inversions does Mantis have?

Answer: 4

Mantis, when added in 1996, was the world's tallest stand-up roller coaster. The coaster has had its fair share of controversy; it was originally named "Banshee", but Cedar Point buckled under public pressure because the name had an evil connotation to some groups.
10. How much did it cost to build Top Thrill Dragster?

Answer: 25 million

Top Thrill Dragster isn't the only rollercoaster at Cedar Point that cost 25 million dollars to build, Millennium Force also costed 25 million dollars to construct. In my opinion they were well worth that money.
11. How fast does Cedar Creek Mine Ride go?

Answer: 42 mph

Built in 1969, the Mine Ride is the second oldest coaster still in operation today at Cedar Point and it was one of the first roller coasters ever to use steel tubular track. Yes, I know it's not the most exciting coaster, but if you just want to ride a coaster with a short wait this is the one, it's still fun.
12. How tall is Mean Streak?

Answer: 161 feet

Mean Streak is massive. There is no other way to explain this conglomerate of timber in the back of the park. When built, Mean Streak was the world's tallest wooden roller coaster.
13. When Millennium Force opened in 2000, how many world records did it break?

Answer: 10

1.) Tallest roller coaster (310 feet)
2.) Fastest roller coaster (93 mph)
3.) Longest drop on a roller coaster (300 feet)
4.) Most roller coasters at one park (14)
5.) Most rides at one park (68)
6.) First roller coaster to top 300 feet
7.) Most steel roller coasters at one park (12)
8.) Most roller coaster track at one park (44, 013 feet)
9.) First coaster to utilize elevator lift system
10.) Steepest non-inversion banked turn on a roller coaster (122 degrees)

Of course most of these records have been broken but it's still got the record for being the best coaster in my book.
14. In what year did Demon Drop open?

Answer: 1983

Demon Drop is was made by intamin and opened in 1983. Demon Drop is a classic gravity powered ride, Four riders enter an "elevator" car (the front is open), sit down, and go up to the top of the shaft. Once at the top, the car will push forward and then fall down the slanted track.
15. How tall is the drop on Power Tower?

Answer: 240 feet

Power Tower is unique because riders can choose one of two different types of rides. The Space Shot, the two red towers, shoots riders up to the top of the ride structure, approximately 240 feet. On the opposite side, the Turbo Drop takes riders up to the top of the tower painstakingly slowly, gives them about ten seconds to think about it, then pushes them down to the earth.
