Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The two men most associated as being the driving force behind this project had gained fame by working on a revival of a comic book. What comic was this?

Answer: Teen Titans

Marv Wolfman and George Perez were behind the revival of "Teen Titans" that saw them become as popular as Marvel's X-Men.
2. In Issue #1, the Monitor sends Harbinger out to recruit heroes from different earths and different times. Here we see the official first appearance of a hero who would later go on starring in his own series and being part of the Justice League of America (JLA). Who was this hero?

Answer: Blue Beetle

Ted Kord (Blue Beetle) made his first official DC appearance in Crisis on Infinite Earths #1. He would go on to be part of the Giffen/Demattis/Maguire JLA and his own short lived series. Ironically enough, it is Ted's investigation of odd occurrences in the DCU and his death that serves to kick off 2005's "Infinite Crisis."
3. One motif that ran through Crisis was beginnings and endings. In Issue #2 we see two DC Characters that symbolize the beginning and ending of DC History. Who were these two characters?

Answer: Anthro and Kamandi

Anthro was the Cro Magnon son of a group of Neaderthals and thus the "First Boy." Kamandi was a Jack Kirby creation (who doesn't exist post-Crisis)and the "Last Man on Earth."
4. Issue #3 kept things going with jumps between more eras as the Monitor's team of heroes tried to defend the vibrational forks that were designed to save the earths. In the WWII scene we see many of DC's WWII era heroes. One group was completely killed. Which group was the one to find its end here?

Answer: The Losers

Gunner, Sarge, Captain Storm and Johnny Cloud were sole survivors of combat missions and banded together calling themselves "The Losers." In this issue, they finally met their end. The official post-Crisis explanation of their deaths was explained in the wonderful "Losers Special". They were featured in Darwyn Cooke's magnificent Silver Age tale, "New Frontier".
5. Issue #7 stands out as a milestone issue for several reasons. The most obvious is explained on the cover. Here we find out the reason for the birth of the multiverse. A scientist decided to look back at the dawn of time and witness the creation of the universe. In so doing, the one universe was disrupted and a multiverse was spawned. Who was this scientist?

Answer: Krona

The Oan, Krona looked back in time. Pariah tried to do something similar, and was cursed to be shunted from universe to universe when danger threatened. Rip Hunter and Waverider are time travelers, but they didn't look back. It is this interference by Krona that inspired the Oans to become the Guardians of the Universe.
6. Issue #8 had the most impactful death in the series (at least in my opinion). The Anti-Monitor was readying a weapon to destroy the remaining worlds in his quest for total annihilation. Which hero/heroine stopped him in this issue?

Answer: Flash

All of these heroes died, but it was the Flash who sacrificed himself to destroy the anti-matter cannon. Supergirl died in the previous issue and Kole and Wonder Woman died later in the series. Barry's death inspired Wally West to become the new Flash and carry the legacy on. In the years following Crisis, DC revealed even more about Barry Allen's contribution to the DC Universe.
7. Issue #9 contains the obligatory villain war, where for some reason, the villains decided to try and take over the worlds still in danger. In this issue, we see a group of Oans giving a character a power ring. Which Green Lantern was empowered in this issue?

Answer: Guy Gardner

These Oans were a group that wanted to be more proactive than others. Giving the ring to Gardner was a very good choice for these Oans.
8. Issue #10 is a big showdown issue with the villain war stopping because it's revealed that the Anti-Monitor had made it to the dawn of time and planned on altering the creation of the multiverse. Who made this announcement and later went toe to toe with the Anti-Monitor?

Answer: The Spectre

The Spectre sent the villains to Oa to stop Krona from looking at the birth of the universe while he and the heroes went to fight the Anti-Monitor. The villains failed, but the Spectre, supported by DC's mystics, fought the Anti-Monitor to a standstill and then it all turned white.
9. In issue #11 we see that all the worlds have been merged, but not everything was incorporated. Some heroes who were at the dawn of time find that they no longer exist. The Superman of Earth-2 tries to go to work as normal, but can't find his workplace. What business was he looking for?

Answer: The Daily Star

Kal-L, Superman of Earth-2, not only married Lois Lane, but also became editor of the Daily Star.
10. In the final issue, the final battle with the Anti-Monitor occurs. A dirty dozen of sorts goes to take him out once and for all with a brilliant plan devised by Darkseid. At the end, four people do the proverbial "ride off to the sunset." Which of the following was NOT one of the four?

Answer: Lois Lane of Earth 3

It was Lois Lane of Earth 2 who accompanied the others to a pocket dimension where they could live out their days. Presumably we'd never see them again, but Kal-L returned in a cameo during the "Kingdom" mini-series and all four returned in the pages of "Infinite Crisis."
