Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Let me take you back to April 1988, 'Wrestlemania IV', Trump Plaza. The WWE title was up for grabs, and the winner of a tournament would be crowned WWE Heavyweight champion. Savage won the title, with a little help from Hulk Hogan. Whom did he beat in the final?

Answer: Ted DiBiase

Savage eliminated DiBiase, The One Man Gang, Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine and Butch Reed to be crowned the undesputed WWE Heavyweight Champion, with Hogan and Elizabeth by his side.
Vince McMahon had originally agreed to hand the belt to DiBiase, but changed his mind and handed it to Savage instead. This led to the creation of 'The Million Dollar Belt', supposedly worth $1 million.
2. After this match, Savage and Hogan formed a tag team, called 'The Megapowers', which exploded a year later at 'Wrestlemania' V. Savage then turned heel. Who managed Savage during his time as 'The Macho King'?

Answer: Sensational Sherri

After Savage lost a 'Career Ending Match' to the Ultimate Warrior at 'Wrestlemania' VII, Sherri entered the ring and kicked Savage whilst he was down. Real life wife, Elizabeth Hulette (Miss Elizabeth), ran into the ring to his rescue. Savage again turned babyface, and began featuring in the Main Event matches once more.

The pair were married on 26th August 1991 at that year's 'Summerslam' event,7 years after their real-life wedding.
3. Due to Randy's loss at 'Wrestlemania' VII, Savage was unable to wrestle for a while. However, a famous feud broke out between him and another famous superstar, which led to Savage's reinstation. Who was this WWE wrestler?

Answer: Jake The Snake Roberts

'Macho Man' was genuinely bitten by Jake Robert's snake:
From http://sports.ign.com/articles/519/519761p3.html
"I [Savage] had a lot of great feuds, though, Jake The Snake was one, especially since his python bit me. That's a really funny story because the snake was supposed to be devenomized, and when the python bit me, it wouldn't let go. About five days later I had a fever and went to the hospital with a 104-degree fever. It's unbelievable to walk into the hospital and tell the doctor I had a snake bite. Finally the fever went down, they gave me antibiotics, and luckily the snake was devenomized, but twelve days later the snake died. He was devenomized but maybe I wasn't. [laughs] Jake told me: 'You killed my snake dude'. "
4. This superstar claimed to have had a relationship with Miss Elizabeth, and had the pictures to prove it. Should Savage lose their bout at 'Wrestlemania' VIII then the pictures would be on display for all the world to see. Savage didn't lose; in fact he captured the WWE World Heavyweight Title for the second time that night. Who did Savage claim the title from?

Answer: Ric Flair

Savage lost the belt back to Flair in September 1992. In total, 'Macho Man' Randy Savage has held a world singles title on five occasions: twice in the WWE, and three times in WCW. He has only lost it to two people however. Both Hogan and Flair captured it from him in the WWE, and these two again stripped Savage of the gold in the WCW.
5. What was Savage's trademark finishing move?

Answer: Flying Elbow Drop

Very few wrestlers could manouver top-of-the-ropes moves like Savage. Many a match was ended with this famous flying elbow drop.
6. Savage and Elizabeth divorced in September 1992. Savage went to the 'Survivor Series' that year, and was supposed to team with the Ultimate Warrior in his match against Ric Flair and Razor Ramon. However, Warrior had by this time left the WWE. Who did Savage ask to be his tag team partner in Warrior's place?

Answer: Mr. Perfect

This was an interesting choice, since for the past two pay-per-view events Mr. Perfect and Ric Flair had taken delight in beating up Savage. However, Perfect (Curt Hennig) accepted Savage's offer in reply to Flair's implication that he (Perfect) was living in Flair's shadow. Randy and Curt won the match.
7. In Autumn 2003, Savage released a rap album, which one of the songs is titled 'Be a Man', a direct challenge to Hulk Hogan to fight him.

Answer: True

Savage wanted Hogan to accept his challenge of a fight to raise money for a children's hospital in Florida. The two wrestlers have real-life personal differences and Hogan refused. Savage donated $10,000 of his own money to the hospital instead.
8. What is Randy Savage's real name?

Answer: Randy Poffo

Randy Poffo was born 15th November 1952 in Sarasota, Florida. He is the son of former professional wrestler Angelo Poffo. Randy's brother, Lanny, was a wrestler/ manager in the WWE, known as 'The Genuis'. Before becoming a professional wrestler, Savage had a career as a semi-pro baseball player.
9. At 'Wrestlemania' X, Savage emerged victorious from the first Falls Count Anywhere Match. Who was Savage's opponent in the match?

Answer: Crush

The rules were simple: After pinning you opponent, you had to make your way back to the ring. Your opponent then had sixty seconds to return to the ring. If they made it, the match would continue. If they failed, you were declared the winner. Although Savage was first pinned in this match, he made his way back into the ring.

He eventually pinned Crush, before tying him up to prevent him from returning, thus winning the match.
10. Known as one of the greatest matches of all time, Savage and Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat battled it out for the WWE Intercontinental title at which 'Wrestlemania'?
