Prince Charming killed Bluebeard in the story arc "Storybook Love", which went on sale in 2003. Because all of Bluebeard's considerable riches went directly to Fabletown's coffers, Cole goes lightly on Prince Charming. Bigby had a bone to pick in issue #19, which went on sale in 2004.

Answer: Red Riding Hood

While most of Fabletown is accepting of the first Fable to arrive on the shores of America for many years, Bigby Wolf is suspicious. His fears are confirmed when Red is found to really be the powerful sorceress Baba Yaga. Red showed up at Fabletown's gate in "Fables" #20, which went on sale in 2004.

Answer: Free glamours

A glamour is a minor spell that allows an unhuman being such as a troll or a dwarf to appear human. Prince Charming's butler Hobbes uses a glamour to appear human, but they're not free. In fact, Prince Charming finds that he can't keep his promise because of their high price. Prince Charming starts making promises in issue #20, which debuted in 2004.

Answer: Thrushbeard

In issue #21, which debuted in 2004, Jack is in a bar trying to convince Thrushbeard to buy some magic beans. Jack's reputation as a trickster and a cheat precedes him, and Thrushbeard refuses to take the bait. Shortly thereafter, Jack is the first Fable to encounter the wooden soldiers. Thrushbeard was a king whose beard was so thick that everyone called him "Thrushbeard".

These three wooden soldiers beat Jack Horner, kill a gun store owner, and assemble the rest of their brothers to form a giant wooden army to invade Fabletown. The three brothers first appear in "Fables" #20, which went on sale in 2004.

After sharing an intimate night with Red Riding Hood, Boy Blue knows that she's not the same girl he fell in love with. His suspicions turn out to be correct, as seen when she knocks him out with the merest touch, and the wooden soldiers are seen to be at her command. These events happened in the twenty-second issue of "Fables", which went on sale in 2004.

The three initial wooden soldiers beat Jack after he refuses to sell them his magic beans, but Jack fights back by hitting one of them with a plank of wood. When he gets back to Fabletown he reports his mugging, but nobody believes him. Trusty John is shot in the chest when the three soldiers first visit Fabletown, Prince Charming fights in the Battle for Fabletown, and Boy Blue is shot during the same battle. Jack is beaten in issue #21, which went on sale in 2004.

Snow White orders every able-bodied Fable to fight for Fabletown, keeping most of them to fight the wooden soldiers, while ordering the mice police to scamper about the enemy and undo their hinges, the magicians to keep the non-Fable community from noticing the struggle, and Flycatcher to relay her orders to the various sections. Preparations are made in issue #22, which went on sale in 2004.

Answer: Boy Blue

The Vorpal Sword, first mentioned by Lewis Carroll, is a blade that can cut through anything, and Blue uses it to wreak terrible havoc among the wooden soldiers. He fights alongside Weyland Smith before being shot in the shoulder. Already injured, he had the sword bandaged to his hands. These events happened in "Fables" #21, which went on sale in 2004.
