Answer: Hush Puppies

James Gaylord Muir, the brand's first salesman, thought up the name and mascot after a trip to the southeast, during which they had traditional fried cornballs called "hush puppies". The origin of the name came from farmers who threw the hush puppies to the hounds to "quiet the barking dogs". The name originally was to be "Lasers".
9. What is the name of the 1950s cartoon basset hound, which was created by Tex Avery?

Answer: Droopy Dog

Droopy Dog was created by Tex Avery and first appeared, nameless, in Avery's 1943 cartoon "Dumb Hounded". In 1949, his fifth cartoon "Senior Droopy" he was given the name Happy Hound. Since 1958, Droopy Dog has appeared on shows such as "Tom & Jerry".
