"American Pie" primarily stars Jim (Jason Biggs) and his attempts to lose his virginity to exchange student Nadia (Shannon Elizabeth) and then latter band geek Michelle (Allyson Hanigan). Of Jim's group of friends only Stiffler (Seann William Scott) has had sex previously.

He challenges the other four to do so before leaving for college. Each does so in a different way but the most infamous is Finch's (Eddie Kaye Thomas) escapade with Stiffler's attractive mother (Jennifer Coolidge) in a scene referencing "The Graduate".

"The House with a Clock in its Walls" is a children's mystery novel by John Bellairs. It is the first novel to feature Lewis Barnavelt, an orphan. In this book, Uncle Jonathan's house was once owned by a black magic couple, Isaac and Serenna, who tried to begin the Apocalypse before they died. Though they were unsuccessful, the hid a clock that could supposedly bring about the end of the world in the walls of Uncle Jonathan's house. Meanwhile, Lewis is unpopular and tries to impress his potential friends by raising the dead.

He is successful but too much so because he resurrects Serenna who continues her plan to end the world.

The girls were unaware of the other until they met by chance.
