"Peyton Place" is a controversial 1956 novel by Grace Metalious, who claims the characters and events are based loosely on her real life experiences. The novel focuses on the lives of people in the small town of Peyton Place, especially their personal relationships with each other and their sex lives.

Some of the more controversial themes were sexual relationships between stepfather and stepdaughter, abortion and other taboo topics. The name Peyton Place became synonymous with any town appearing to be idyllic but having tawdry secrets.

Jack Torrance is the recovering alcoholic and main character in "The Shining". He relocates his family to Colorado where he manages the Overlook Hotel. Katherine (called Kay) Adams is the girlfriend of Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) in "The Godfather" franchise. Kay and Michael meet at Dartmouth and fall in love. Kay eventually married Michael as his second wife. His first wife Appolonia, whom he married when he fled the country, dies in a car bomb explosion. Michael then returns to the U.S. to marry Kay. This marriage is very strained as Michael becomes abusive when Kay learns of and disapproves of who Michael really is.

Davey Stone is voice by Adam Sandler who grew up in New Hampshire and set some of his films there. Davey is something of a loser who gets sentenced to community service and must coach a youth basketball team to avoid prison. John is opposed to this because he is anti-war and dodges the draft. Owen, meanwhile, insists it is God's will and he willingly joins.

"Our Town" is a Thornton Wilder play with very little scenery or props. The cast act out their roles using just their bodies and skills. The play is set in a theater (specifically the theater where "Our Town" is being performed at that moment) and is narrated by the stage manager who is also the theater owner and takes up some minor roles.

The plot follows the lives of Emily Webb and George Gibbs who begin as teenagers but then develop into adults and get married.
