Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who did Pat Patterson lose the WWF Intercontinental Title to?

Answer: Ken Patera

Ken defeated and ended the two hundred plus day reign of Patterson. He won the belt on April 21, 1980 in New York at Madison Square Garden. Patera was managed at the time by the late great "Grand Wizard" Ernie Roth. The two battled and it looked like Patera was going to succumb to Patterson's Figure Four Leglock. Patera however got the victory after he jumped off the second rope landing a blow on Patterson.

The referee counted the three count, but did not see Patterson's leg on the ropes.
2. What annual show did The Ultimate Warrior win his first Intercontinental Championship at?

Answer: SummerSlam

On August 29, 1988, The Ultimate Warrior destroyed the Honky Tonk Man for the title. Honky was not even aware of who his opponent was for the evening. Honky Tonk Man called out for someone to wrestle. The Ultimate Warrior's music came on and Honky was visibly shaken. Honky was not even able to remove his jumpsuit before Warrior tore into him.

The Warrior's first reign lasted a little over two hundred days before he lost the Intercontinental Title the first time.
3. Who did Pedro defeat for his second reign as Intercontinental Champion?

Answer: Don Muraco

Pedro Morales was a two time WWF Intercontinental Champion. He defeated Ken Patera in New York on December 8, 1980. Pedro was also the WWF World Heavyweight and co-holder of the World Tag Team Championship at the time. Pedro was the first Triple Crown Champion in WWF history.

His first Intercontinental Title reign ended at the hands of Don Muraco. Pedro would defeat Muraco on November 23, 1981 for a four hundred and twenty five day title reign.
4. What part of the body did Greg Valentine focus on during his bout with Intercontinental Champion, Tito Santana?

Answer: knee

Valentine had developed a reputation for breaking the bones of his opponents. He had previously injured Wahoo McDaniel and Jay Strongbow. On September 24, 1984, he would continue with that tradition. He worked relentlessly on the injured knee on Tito during their bout in London. Valentine would secure the win and the title. Valentine would attack Santana after the win and further injure Tito's knee with a Figure Four Leglock.
5. What profession did The Godfather use as his gimmick?

Answer: Pimp

Charles Wright used the gimmick of a Pimple to get over with the fans. He would often be accompanied to the ring by women he was supposedly managing. The Godfather was also known for using the phrase, "Pimping Ain't Easy" during interviews or the start of his bouts. Charles would defeat Goldust for the Intercontinental Championship on April 12, 1999 in Detroit, Michigan.

The Godfather held the title for forty three days.
6. Who was the first man to hold the Intercontinental Championship to be inducted into the Hall of Fame?

Answer: Pedro Morales

The WWE established the Hall of Fame in 1993. There was only one inductee that year, Andre the Giant. Pedro Morales was the first inductee that held the Intercontinental Championship. He was inducted with the class of 1995. Pedro Morales was the first Latino to hold the World Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships.

He was inducted to the Hall of Fame by fellow Latin superstar, Savio Vega.
7. Who made a public proclamation that he was going to beat the title reign of the Honky Tonk Man?

Answer: Santino

Santino Marella was into his second reign as Intercontinental Champion when he announced his intention of beating the Honky Tonk Man's four hundred and fifty four day reign. He would even go as far as creating what he called a "Honky-A-Meter" to keep track of his progress. Even with both of Santino's reigns combined, a total of one hundred and sixty two days he would not come close. Santino lost the Intercontinental Title to William Regal on November 10, 2008.
8. Who was Ric Rude's manager when he won the Intercontinental Championship?

Answer: Bobby Heenan

Bobby Heenan was the manager of "The Ravishing One". The Ultimate Warrior and Rude had been battling over the Intercontinental Title for several months. Their feud came to a head at "Wrestlemania 5" in Atlantic City. Both of the men in my opinion, held their own in the bout. Bobby Heenan held the legs of Warrior allowing Rude to secure the win and the Intercontinental Title. Bobby however would pay the price for interfering on Rude's behalf. Bobby was battered by the Warrior after the bout was over. Ric Rude held the title a few days short of five months before losing it back to the Ultimate Warrior.
9. What was Don Muraco's nickname?

Answer: The Magnificent One

Don Muraco known as "The Magnificent One" was from Sunset Beach, Hawaii. The other nickname he was known as was "Beach Bum" was given to him by the fans. Don had two reigns as Intercontinental Champion. He defeated Pedro Morales for both of his Intercontinental Title reigns. Don was managed by Ernie Roth and Lou Albano respectively.

He would lose the title to Tito Santana on February 11, 1984. Don held the title for a combined total of five hundred and forty one days over both days.
10. Who did Chyna defeat for her second reign as Intercontinental Champion?

Answer: Trish Stratus

This was an intergender bout that included Val Venis and Eddie Guerrero. Val Venis was the reigning Intercontinental Champion at the time. The rules of the bout were defined as whomever secured the pin fall would win the Intercontinental Championship. Chyna pinned Trish Stratus to begin her second recognized title reign.
