Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Five passengers set sail that day".

Answer: Gilligan's Island

"The Ballad of Gilligan's Isle" was written by the show's producer Sherwood Schwartz. He wrote the song first, then created the show!
2. "Harmony and understanding, ____ and trust abounding". What's the missing word from this Broadway musical and movie?

Answer: Sympathy

Great line from the bridge of "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine" by "Fifth Dimension" from Galt MacDermot's "Hair". Love it!
3. "Baby, if you've ever wondered."

Answer: WKRP in Cincinnati

Love the lead guitar riff in verse two, as well as the use of fabulous maj7 chords throughout. "Just maybe think of me once in a while" Smoooooth!
4. "Flyin' away on a wing and a prayer, who could it be?"

Answer: The Greatest American Hero

My wife loved this show, and I'll have to admit William Katt showed his versatility as a bumbling "not-wanna-be-hero" in this classic TV show.
5. "Didn't need no welfare state, everybody pulled his weight, _____________ great. Those were the days".

Answer: gee our old La Salle ran

This line from "Those Were the Days" from "All in the Family", haunted me for many years until I found a book with the lyrics. Carroll O'Connor at his best with Lee Adams' words. I finally got it!
6. The theme song from "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" is titled "Funeral Parade of the Marionettes".

Answer: False

The accurate title is "Funeral March of the Marionettes" by Charles Gounod (1818-1893). Super fun to play on the keyboard!
7. "_____ Softly Love". ("Godfather" theme).

Answer: Speak

Fairly unknown that this song contains lyrics. Love the opening line: "Speak softly love and hold me warm against your heart. I feel your words, tender, trembling moments start. We're in a world our very own, sharing a love that only few have ever known". Haunting!
8. "You can speak your mind, but not on my time."

Answer: Bosom Buddies

Billy Joel's "My Life" is a facinating narrative about working for yourself while foregoing the opinions of others. Just happened to fit "Bosom Buddies". One of my favorite lyrical compostions by Joel.
9. "A minuet, The Ballet Russe, and __________."

Answer: crepe suzette

From "The Patty Duke Show". Identical cousins? NOT! Sid Ramin's music with Bob Welles' words. What a crazy pair! Loved it!
10. "No one you see...is smarter than he".

Answer: Flipper

Probably the only theme song I can think of about a fish...OOPS a mammal! Written by BY Dunham and Henry Vars. Classic 3/4 waltz.
11. "What does it matter to ya, when you got a job to do?"

Answer: Live and Let Die

McCartney's only hit from a movie (after the Beatles).
12. "Making your way in the world today".

Answer: Cheers

"The Theme From Cheers" is an exceptional example of technical keyboard coupled with extaordinary lyrics. Written in Bb, it can only be played accurately on piano. I love the complexity of the music written by Gary Portnoy and Judy Hart Angelo.
13. "I cook like Betty Crocker and I look like Donna Reed."

Answer: Little Shop of Horrors

Ellen Greene sang "Somewhere That's Green" in "Little Shop of Horrors". A fantasy song of idyllic hope and love, "Green" is a touching moment in an otherwise hilarious musical starring Rick Moranis. Great cameos by Steve Martin and Bill Murray make this movie a must-see. My favorite musical!
14. "You'll come running back" is a line from a Stone's song which is an integral part of what movie? (Also name the song)

Answer: Fallen (Time is on My Side)

Spooky Denzel Washington movie where he chases a demon who loves to sing this Stones song and can change into any being just by touching it. What a scary premise and I loved how they incorporated this song into the plot!
15. "I'm a king-kong man, I'm a voodoo man."

Answer: Club Paradise

The Kinks' "Apeman" from "Club Paradise" starring Robin Williams. I loved this movie and the music. it has everything from rock to reggae and disco to classical. Jimmy Cliff wrote and performed all the songs you see played onstage. Funny, funny movie! Hope you enjoyed my quiz. Thanks for playing. Bwebster.
