"No Escape" was the name given to the pilot episode of the proposed series "The Phantom". Three other episodes had been written but because the pilot was not picked up as a series, they were never filmed. Lon Chaney, Jr., and Richard Kiel were guests stars in the episode. Roger Creed (1915-1997) was an actor and stuntman who doubled for many stars in films including Bob Hope and Frank Sinatra.
2. The Phantom (1943 motion picture serial)

"The Phantom" was a 15 chapter serial released by Columbia pictures. Interestingly, the Phantom is given the secret identity of Geoffrey Prescott, since the comic strip had not yet named him Kit Walker. The storyline follows a search for the pieces of ivory that contain a map that will show the location of a lost city. Tom Tyler (1903-1954) was an actor best known for his work in westerns although he gave the first on-screen portrayal of the title character in the 1941 serial "The Adventures of Captain Marvel".
3. Phantom Shuffle (1984 music single and music video)

In the video, Austen Tayshus is dressed as the Phantom, although he wears sunglasses rather than a domino mask. The video features the skull ring and the skull cave and refers to the Phantom as "Mr. Walker, the man who cannot drive." Austen Tayshus is the stage name of comedian Alexander Jacob Gutman (born 1954) who may be best known for the 1983 comedy single "Australiana", which spent eight weeks at number one on the Australian charts.
4. Kisil Maske ("The Red Mask") (1971 motion picture)

This film was a 1968 Turkish production. In "Revenge of the Red Mask", the Phantom appears in a red costume that was otherwise similar to his usual appearance. This is considered an unauthorized film. Interesting a second film with the same title but a different cast was also produced in Turkey in 1968.
5. Defenders of the Earth (1986-1987 animated television series)

In "Defenders of the Earth", the Phantom was teamed with Flash Gordon and Mandrake the Magician. The three heroes fought against Ming the Merciless in the 65 episodes of this series. This version of the Phantom is able to temporarily gain increased strength and speed by saying "By jungle law, the ghost who walks calls forth the power of ten tigers!" Peter Mark Richman (born 1927) is an actor who has appeared in dozens of motion pictures and television shows, such as "Dynasty" and "Three's Company", usually in supporting roles.
6. The Phantom (1996 motion picture)

The script for "The Phantom" draws on three story lines from the comic strip: "The Singh Brotherhood", "The Sky Band" and "The Belt". The film received mixed reviews at the time of release and was unsuccessful at the box office, earning 17 million dollars on a 45 million dollar budget. Set in 1938, much of the film's footage was filmed in Australia and Thailand. Billy Zane (born 1966) is an actor who has also appeared in the motion pictures "Tombstone" (1993) and "Titanic" (1997).
7. Phantom 2040 (1994-1996 animated television series)

"Phantom 2040" aired for two seasons and 35 episodes. In this version, Kit Walker is shown having to learn how to be the Phantom since his father was killed when he was only an infant. The series received critical acclaim for several features, particularly voice acting. Scott Valentine (born 1958) is an actor who may be best known for his role on the television series "Family Ties".
8. The Phantom (2009 television mini series)

The four hour, two part mini series was ordered as a backdoor pilot by the Syfy Channel. This version of the Phantom wears a modified costume that is highly resistant to injury and grants its wearer some enhanced abilities. Ryan Carnes (born 1982) is an actor who has also appeared in television series such as "General Hospital" and "Desperate Housewives".
9. Betaal Pachisi (1997 television series)

"Betaal Paschisi" first aired its 49 episodes in India during the 1997-1998 television season. The series was unsuccessfulldy sued by King Features Syndicate for being an unauthorized production. Shahbaz Khan (born 1966) is an actor primarily working in Indian television series and movies.
10. The Man Who Hated Laughter (1972 animated television movie)

"The Man Who Hated Laughter" was a one-hour made for television animated movie that featured many of the characters from comic strips that were owned by King Features Syndicated. The characters unite to stop the plans of a mad scientist who is trying to eliminate laughter from the world. Bob McFadden (1923-2000),who voiced the Phantom and many of the other characters in the movie, was a voice actor who voiced characters in animated series such as "Cool McCool" (1965) and "ThunderCats" (1985-1989).
