"Mandrake the Magician" was heard on the Mutual Broadcasting System. 195 fifteen-minute episodes were broadcast during the show's run. Raymond Edward Johnson (1911-2001) was a radio and stage actor who was best known for being part of the "Inner Sanctum Mysteries" radio show. Each episode of "Mandrake the Magician" started with Johnson stating: "Invoco legem magicarum" ("I invoke the laws of magic")
2. Mandrake the Magician (1939 film serial)

Answer: Warren Hull

Released by Columbia Pictures, there were twelve chapters to the 1939 serial. In "Mandrake the Magician", Mandrake and Lothar work to protect a "radium energy machine" from falling into the wrong hands. Warren Hull was a radio, movie, and television actor who specialized in action-adventure parts, including the Green Hornet and the Spider.
3. Mandrake killin'g karsi (1967 film)

Answer: Guven Erte

This Turkish film was unauthorized by Kings Feature Syndicate, which holds the rights to Mandrake the Magician. The film was written by Vecdi Uygun and directed by Oksal Pekmezoglu. The Turkish title of the film roughly translates as "Mandrake Against Killing"
4. Mandrake (1979 television film)

The 1979 television movie aired as part of the series "NBC Wednesday Night at the Movies". The plot involved stopping a criminal who was sabotaging roller coasters at various amusement parks. Anthony Herrera (1944-2014) was a television actor best known for his role on "As the World Turns".
5. Major League Baseball (1948-1959 seasons)

Donald Mueller (1927-2011) was nicknamed "Mandrake the Magician" for his ability to put the ball into play and spreading his hits throughout the infield. He played for the New York Giants during most of his career, but played his last two season with the Chicago White Sox.

Although he only hit 65 home runs, he had a career batting average of .296. On July 11, 1954, he hit for the cycle (a single, double, triple, and home run in the same game). That same season he led the National League in hits with 212.
6. Mandrake the Magician (1954 television pilot)

The unaired pilot was filmed by NBC in 1954 but unfortunately was not picked up as a series. Coe Norton (1912-1998) was a professional stage magician. In the pilot, Mandrake is working at the Parakeet Club when he gets involved in a case that includes his on-stage assistant being kidnapped. Some scenes from the pilot were filmed in Bermuda.
7. Popeye Meets the Man Who Hated Laughter (1972 animated television film)

"Popeye Meets the Man Who Hated Laughter" appeared as an episode of the ABC Saturday Superstar Movie. Many Kings Feature Syndicate characters appeared in the animated production including Beetle Bailey, Blondie Bumstead, Flash Gordon, Popeye, and Mandrake.

In the show, many of the characters have been captured by an evil professor and need to make him laugh in order to escape. Bob McFadden (1923-2000) was a voice artist best fr his contributions to animated shows.
8. Defenders of the Earth (1986-1987 animated television series)

Set in the year 2015, "Defenders of the Earth" features Mandrake, Flash Gordon, and the Phantom, who have teamed up to protect the Earth from Ming the Merciless. The single season of the show included 65 episodes. The show spun off a short-lived comic book series. Peter Renaday (born 1935) is an actor known for voice over work in films, televison shows, and video games.

He also voiced a Mandrake-like character in an episode of the animated television series "Phantom 2040" (1994-1996)
9. Mandrake the Magician and the Enchantress (1973 stage musical)

Answer: Bob Bingham

The plot of the musical involved Mandrake facing off against an ex-girlfriend, Aleena the Enchantress. The musical was staged at the Lenox Art Center and the Amas Six O'Clock Musical Theatre Lab in 1973. Plans to bring the musical to Broadway a few years later were ultimately scrapped. Robert "Bob" Bingham (born 1946) is an actor and singer best known for playing Caiaphas in "Jesus Christ Superstar" on Broadway and on film.
10. Photography Portfolio in December 1972 French issue of "Vogue"

Robert F. Caille, the editor of the French edition of "Vogue" magazine offered Federico Fellini the chance to create the photography portfolio for the magazine. Fellini considered making a Mandrake film in the early 1970s. Marcello Mastroianni (1924-1996) was a respected Italian film actor who twice won Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival.
