Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Green Hornet (radio show from 1936-1943)

Answer: Al Hodge

Al Hodge (1912-1979) also played Captain Video on the 1950s television show of the same name. "The Green Hornet" radio show began on station WXYZ in Detroit, MI, in 1936 before being syndicated a few years later. "The Green Hornet" was created by George Trendle and Fran Striker. Al Hodge briefly would reprise the title role of "The Green Hornet" in 1945.
2. The Green Hornet (radio show from 1947-1952)

Answer: Jack McCarthy

Jack McCarthy (1911-1977) was the final voice actor to portray the Green Hornet on the television show. Jack McCarthy primarily worked as a radio actor and announcer. Not always emphasized is the fact that Britt Reid (aka "The Green Hornet") was the grand nephew of the Lone Ranger. (George Trendle and Fran Striker also created that radio show and character.)
3. The Green Hornet (1940 film serial--but not voice of the Green Hornet)

Answer: Gordon Jones

This is a bit complicated. Gordon Jones physically portrayed Britt Reid on screen and provided his voice. He also physically portrayed Britt Reid in the Green Hornet costume, but the voice of the Green Hornet was dubbed by Al Hodge (at the time, the voice of the Green Hornet on the radio).

In "The Green Hornet", the Green Hornet and Kato investigate several criminal outfits that appear to be separate at first but end up being connected. Gordon Jones (1911-1963) was an actor who also appeared in several John Wayne films.
4. The Green Hornet Strikes Again! (1941 film serial)

Answer: Warren Hull

Warren Hull (1903-1974) was an actor who appeared in a variety of radio, film, and television roles. In this serial, the Green Hornet and Cato are up against "Boss" Crogan and his gangs. The role of Kato in both 1940s movie serials was played by Keye Luke, best known as "Number One Son" in several of the Charlie Chan films. Britt Reid was the publisher of the newspaper "The Daily Sentinel".
5. The Green Hornet (2006 short film)

Answer: Manu Lanzi

The French-language film was originally called "Le frelon vert". The ten-minute short film shows the Green Hornet trying to prove his innocence by capturing the criminal who framed him. Emmanuel Lanzi (credited in this film as Manu Lanzi) is also known for his work in films like "Taken" (2008) and "The Transporter" (2012).
6. Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story (1993 film)

Answer: Forry Smith

This one is also a little complicated. "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story" is a biographical film about the life of Bruce Lee. One of Bruce Lee's best known roles was playing Kato in the 1960s "Green Hornet" television series. "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story" includes scenes about the filming of the television series.

In those scenes, Forry Smith portrays Van Williams, the actor who played the Green Hornet in the television series. Forry Smith (born 1952) is also known as an actor for the soap opera "Santa Barbara".
7. The Green Hornet (2011 film)

Answer: Seth Rogen

Seth Rogen (born 1982) is a Canadian actor also known for work like "Freaks and Geeks" (1999-2000) and "Superbad" (2007). The film includes the Black Beauty, the Green Hornet's trademark car. 29 Imperial Crown sedans from the mid-1960s were used in the making of the film, three of which survived to the end.

The film has a mixed critical reputation although it did turn a profit of over $100 million. Along with starring in the title role, Seth Rogen co-wrote the screenplay.
8. The Green Hornet (1966-1967 television series)

Answer: Van Williams

Van Williams (1934-2016) was an actor also known for television roles like "Bourbon Street Beat" (1959-1960) and "Surfside 6" (1960-1962). "The Green Hornet" appeared on ABC-TV for 26 episodes during the 1966-1967 season. The Green Hornet and Kato (Bruce Lee) also appeared on the "Batman" television show, first in a "bat climb" cameo, the in the epsiodes "A Piece of the Action" and "Batman's Satisfaction".

Interestingly, in the "bat climb" cameo, Batman and Robin recognized the Green Hornet and Kato as crime fighters, but in the later episodes considered them criminals.
9. The Adventures of the Spirit (1963 short film)

Answer: Donald Glut

Donald Glut, who also wrote and directed this film, portrays the Green Hornet in a cameo who appears and helps the main hero, the Spirit (also portrayed by Donald Glut) out of a trap. This occurred during the "Fangs of Death" section of the film. Donald Glut (born 1944) is best known as a writer, both of screenplays and of books.
10. The Green Hornet Begins (2013 short film)

Answer: Amar Singh

"The Green Hornet Begins" was written and directed by Ranjeet Marwa. In the film the Green Hornet (Amar Singh) battles against Carnage (Glen Hannah). I viewed the short film (about two minutes) on-line and the battle between the two takes up the second half of the film.
